Upgraded to fast speed fiber and dropped an unnecessary phone line and DVR so our monthly bill…read more(while still outlandish) would be lower than before. Sounded good on paper, but the actual process was amazingly abysmal: Apparently Optimum believes in labor specialization so we needed two three-hour appointments, one to run a fiber cable from the outside pole to our house, and the second to hook up the inside equipment. The first appointment lasted about 2 minutes; a couple of techs went into the backyard, looked up at the pole thoughtfully and left, having done absolutely nothing. The second tech came the next day, said it's not his job to run outside cables so he couldn't install anything and then disappeared. Tech returned 2 hours later, said he'd run the outside cable after all. It was a warm day and the tech had to drag a tall ladder and heavy wires to the pole with no help. I felt sorry, brought him a beverage. Second tech replaced our modem and TV boxes, stating that we should be up and running in an hour or two at most. Hoping for the best we waited....and waited.....nada. A third tech was dispatched to our house for troubleshooting, said he didn't know how to work with fiber, hung out in his car for awhile and left. I repeatedly called and chatted with Optimum (using my Verizon cell phone) over the next few days to see what the holdup was, got nothing but evasive contradictory answers. After FOUR DAYS of no Internet services, I finally reached a wonderful customer service agent named Kendra who investigated and found out that Optimum had never thrown the switch at their end to get our service back on! Kendra pursued the matter internally and our service was restored. Thank you Kendra! Unbelievably bad customer service and inept management coupled with high pricing? May be a good business model for a semi-monopoly like Optimum/Altice, but a raw deal for consumers.

Policies do not allow shifts, and I am paying a whole month of overpriced, unreliable service for 8 days to be able to work from home before I move out. Use Verizon, starlink, Tmobile; I don't know just not optimum - they may similar policies but at least their services are better you don't lose internet or tv consistently. If cancelling wasn't a process in itself I would've done so long ago. On top of this - they have their hardworking staff pitch new services after outlining how wild their policies are. I started laughing. "our policies are horrible, our services are horrible, you are clearly unhappy and I can't do anything about it - but hey, are you interested in our $25/mo. Cell phone plan???" I cackled. Maybe the comedic relief gets people to bite. Overpriced, bad policy, not customer first at all, I would rather craft an antenna and use RF frequencies I pick up from my microwave before ever considering them again. Simply do better optimum corporate. After paying $11,000 over 5+ years for subpar services you just lost a customer for life over $120 because a policy would not allow to pro-rate a service that will likely be unavailable for 4 of the 8 days anyway

I just moved to a new location in Huntington and just needed Internet so I picked the most basic…read morepackage from Verizon Fios where I provided my own router (it came to $62/ mth with taxes). I was so nervous about cabling in the house because the old owners had made all of these holes and had all these cut cables leading anywhere and everywhere. A technician named Joe called me to let me know when to expect me. He updated me on everything that needed to be done and was sooo good to my dog who is anxiety-ridden. Joe was able to empathize because he has a dog with similar issues; Joe is a tall guy and I have all wooden floors where any kind of footstep sounds loud! He was great letting me know he felt bad about creating more anxiety for the dog and whether it was intentional or not, he barely made any loud noises going in and out of the basement and house. Due to recabling to the location I wanted the router in, it took Joe probably more time than expected but he never showed it. He even stayed to make sure my router password worked and I was able to get on the Internet with no issues. He had noticed after the set-up that I lost the Internet (I had no idea but he was right!) and he again stayed to make sure I completed al the prompts needed for my router. This basic Internet package is great! The customer service was professional, courteous and knowledgable! I do hope someone from corporate sees this to recognize Joe. Having a background in customer service, I know for a fact the complaints probably out weight the compliments some of these workers deserve.

The website is impervious to customer feedback and is terribly confusing to use, to the point that sometimes give up altogether. I reserve a special word for FIOS TV. Today I received an email: "Your Verizon TV Plan Now Includes ESPN Unlimited!" Great! No one in my household watches sports. We didn't ask for this and resent having to subsidize the viewing preferences of others. I'd much prefer to be able to opt for other programming, but we aren't given that choice. Finally, the basic TV lineup includes a paltry handful of stations. Compared to Spectrum, it is pathetic. If it weren't for my wife, who highly values the wifi speed for her work, I'd cancel FIOS and return to Spectrum in a nanosecond.

They really are disgusting. they're charging me for premium channels, but they took away the channels for the premium. We're paying thousands of dollars a year and then you get a customer service rep in the Billing Dept who thinks they're doing you a favor while I might be doing her a favor going to another company.

First, they have various contact numbers that claim they are unable to assist and assert you have to call the other line. None of them allow you to cancel or give you any assurance that your account is closed. I lost service in December on a switch over to 5G and phone number changed (when they told me it wouldn't), then my account got suspended for failure to pay - no cable, no internet, no phone. And they still bllled be each month adding onto charges and i them called to cancel in Feb and I returned all equipment. And they still billed me for monthly service after all the months of no service/suspensions and now clear post cancelation. I called multiple times - billing, service, retention, etc When I punched in my account number it asserts my account is still operational and they keep billing me which is absurd. One department says I canceled and then billing has no power to credit or close out and says I am suspended and keeps adding charges even though I am receiving no services now and they can't tell me how to resolve. It is extortion. I am trying to work through the NYS Public Service Commission complaint department for these fraudulent practices which I believe also prey on the elderly. Saying you always call wrong line and then hanging up on you is complete run around.
