Stumbled upon this place while visiting the area and so glad we did!! The people were so friendly and fun. The owners were so kind and welcoming. And the food was delicious!!!! Definitely try the fried pickles! We also got the jalapeño poppers and they were homemade pieces of art! Not the frozen breaded kind. Highly recommend spending a few hours here hanging out and enjoying some music. read more

My family went to the pig sanctuary near here and we needed a place to eat for lunch with outdoor seating. This place fit the bill, and we got there early. We played outside with our kids on the stage until Wade arrived and greeted us. He was very friendly, and very accommodating for the kids. When the storm came, we went inside and had the top level to ourselves. The food was great- I did a spicy shrimp dish with lovely fresh vegetables. The vegetarians had something and the ladies did salads. For desserts, a strawberry and apple pie was delicious. The inside also had a stage setup, but I imagine that would be super loud- inside here is not very big. But the outside stage and setup is awesome. The decor is Louisiana jazz/crab shack, but lots of other things. I liked it, so funky, lots to look at. Honestly, we weren't expecting much and this place was great. Good food, friendly and accommodating hosts, neat little spot. All the best! read more

Our friend chose Cabaret Franks based on the reviews and upon arrival worried that we'd make a mistake. We sat outside among overgrown grass and mosquitoes because it was incredibly hot inside. There were two kids running around, screaming, with the girl running up to our table periodically to ask questions. The girl belonged to one of the waitresses, who asked if the kids were driving us crazy. We said "yes" and she said the girl would be leaving in 10 minutes. She said nothing to the kids who finally drove us into the overheated restaurant. We were served water in plastic cups--always a bad sign--and given the rundown on what was delicious on the menu. One friend chose the "amazing ribs" literally just recommended right before the waitress said she'd just remembered they didn't have them, but they had a half of a chicken that was...somehow like ribs?.... (That friend ordered a hamburger, which, after checking it out with her phone flashlight because she found the texture "weird," she didn't finish.) Another friend ordered the half chicken but was told it was a breast since they were out of half chickens. (She didn't eat more than a few bites, saying it didn't taste right.) I ordered the macaroni and cheese, another delicious pick, according to the waitress. But, oh yeah, we don't have that either. I ended up with the veggie burger, which was solidly okay. The fries were cold and a little soggy, and had something a bit spicy on them. And the drinks. One person ordered a sangria. When it came, the waitress apologized for the very long wait--she had to make it. The friend said it tasted like very dry wine with fruit in it. She tried to drink it before finally sending it back. That stopped the rest of us from ordering drinks. Indoors, we sat at the only table downstairs that barely fit six, in front of a fan. It was unpleasant enough that we went upstairs, where there was a wall air conditioner trying desperately to cool the too-large area. The lighting was so dim that we had to use our phones to check out the food and even the waitress with the awful kid commented on the need for lighting up there. The place could be interesting, but it really needs a good cleaning. The two waitresses were pleasant enough, but the thing with the kids was ridiculous. I get that people sometimes need to bring their kids to work, but do something about that kind of behavior. The day had been very rough for the group and we were there to have a relaxing evening that was better than the day had been (and days ahead might be) but instead left feeling annoyed, at best. Also, the waitresses should know what they have and don't have. Telling people the great things to order, and then saying, "Oh, yeah, not that," when it's ordered is not good. There was an Irish singer downstairs playing her guitar. Her voice was beautiful, but the music was so loud that we couldn't hear each other. That was frustrating, too, since the notice said the music would be outside. It's safe to say we won't be going back the Cabaret Franks. read more

Food and service are pretty good. Price is ok. However, this restaurant is the slowest from the time you order to the time you get your food i of any restaurant I've been to, by a long shot. I've been there three times. The second time they brought the main dishes out in a reasonable time. The first time it was an hour. The third time it was 1.5 hours before all entrees were served. It wasn't that busy a night and they had two cooks. I don't understand. On the third night They offered our party free desserts, which was a nice gesture. We had somewhere to go and left after eating main courses. Obviously my companions were upset by the wait. The atmosphere is not good either. There's a hodgepodge of popular culture posters and signs on the wall. I hope not to return. read more

I'd be happy to give this restaurant five stars, but the night we visited there was only one person serving everyone and it took over two hours to be served. We didn't really mind, because there was live music outside and when the food did come it was excellent, but to have just one person on for a Saturday night was poor planning. My wife's fish and chips was amazing and I had the fried chicken sandwich which was fresh and delicious. Their coleslaw is astounding. We'll go back for sure and I look forward to bumping up this review to 5 stars. read more

This is a pleasant find after walking the Rail Trail. We stopped for a Bavarian Pretzel which was authentic. As vegetarians were pleased to see cauliflower wings on the menu. They were very tasty and just the right amount of "hot". We sat outside and listened to the live music warmer up for I assume later that day. The waitress was also extremely attentive and sweet. The dogs were able to rest under the table before we walked the Trail back again. The combination made for a nice afternoon out. read more

We went here out of desperation given that it was the last day Rolling River Cafe was serving (Sun). While they have a great band playing and the waiter was extremely nice, there were too many negative points. One, the food quality itself is meh. My wife ordered the fish and chips and the fish was severely filled with old batter and you cannot even taste the fish anymore. It came out all charred. I got the dammburger which basically is a burger. It was tasty enough and cooked to my request, it was quite a small sized burger and the fries included were more on the lukewarm soggy side. Ugh. We did like the server's attitude but his service in itself was slow and it took forever for the food to come out considering our party was the only ones there. Not impressed at all. read more

We had a great time here! It's not going to be for everyone, but our wants were simple: a place where we could bring the kids along for some brews and live music. We certainly got that here! This quirky Naaaawlins creole inspired joint serves up local brews on tap for $6. We tasted some we enjoyed from Catskills and Roscoe Breweries, both were on my list of things to do/taste while in the area. Two birds. One stone. Yay. They have live music nightly from 7-9:30pm with no cover! The band that played the night we were here treated us to covers of The Dead ('I know you Rider', 'Good Lovin') and Dylan ('Knocking On Heaven's Door'), to name a few. Right up my alley. What a great treat! There's a sombrero a beloved employee who passed away used to wear that gets passed around for tips. This brought me right back to honey tonk hopping in Nashville, juke joint jumping in Memphis, and jammin' at jazz clubs in NOLA (which I think is what they are going for). Don't forget those bills to offer if you enjoy the tunes! The crowd was lively and really a hoot. The owner was on hand, and is quite the character, in a good way. While the spot definitely has its regulars, the patrons were super welcoming to us visitors and the kiddos. Almost everyone made sure to talk to us, which was super nice and reassuring. One kind lady even gave my daughters some fresh lilacs from the vases on the bar. So sweet. They host: -karaoke on Wed nights from 5-11pm -Sunday drag brunch -open mic night They also have a full menu, and an outdoor stage and picnic tables. The place has a rustic barn type feel. A little hippie, a little country, a little bit rock and roll, like the song. It had two floors with a balcony overlooking the small dance floor. It is decorated with Christmas lights, and has a bunch of funny signs I got a kick out of reading. I would stop by when in the area again. We love it here and always visit when we are in the Catskills. They almost always have live music outside on their stage. The food is really good, especially the blackened salmon! We've also tried the fish tacos, burger, wings and fried Oreos and enjoyed them all. They have local brews and a full bar. Only downside is it takes a while to get your food! read more

I was in the area for an appointment, and was hungry so we decided to check this place out. Since it was a Sunday and early afternoon, we had the place all to ourselves when we first came in. At first, I wasn't sure if it was open or not since it looked dim inside. There isn't a clear parking lot, more of a small parking area along the street. The outside seating and small stage looked like it would be amazing in the summertime, so I have put this on my list to check out once the warm weather is here again. It's cute inside, and there's a stage. They let us know when bands were playing, and it looks like it would be a nice place to check out some evening. The menu is small, but they also offered to make us some omelets. Both the person I was with and I went for a bowl of chili and split some mac and cheese - both of which were pretty damn good. The chili was thick and hearty, and came topped with sour cream. I could have gone for some crackers, but it was far from a loss to not have them. The macaroni and cheese was amazing! Nice and thick, with gouda cheese to give it a richness. There were bread crumbs baked on top, and it was oh so good. There is a small selection of drinks, and for a smaller place, a great beer selection. The owner/manager was friendly and just wonderful to talk with. As we were enjoying our meal, other people came in and it was clear that this is the type of place that has a large amount of regulars. They were all friendly and in good spirits. Great place!! Great area, often in the area fishing, hiking or passing through on Rt 17. We were ice fishing at Mongaup Pond (excellent State Park and campground) President's Weekend and we dropped in for dinner as a snow storm developed outside. Very warm welcome very friendly service. Fun ambiance and great food. Great local brews on tap. Appetizers were refreshing and above the norm. For example, the nachos were not the usual heavy loaded up and broiled chips. They were made fresh with thought, the veggies were fresh and cold and the chips and cheese were hot. The BBQ was smoked fresh and the sides were great. The burgers were fresh and cooked to order. Great meat. They have live entertainment and a great space. We will definitely make Cabernet Franks a regular stop. read more

What's not to like?! For starters, great food! We had the Fried Pickles, Cauliflower Wings, the Veggie Burger & Fish Tacos. We were very impressed with the freshness of all the dishes. All was scrumptious! We enjoyed every last bite! The band, Side F/X, was great and played an eclectic selection of music ranging back decades from 'Dion to Bowie'. The music made the night so much fun! The staff is incredibly friendly. We are 'out-of-towners' and were personally greeted with a very warm welcome, and big smiles! We soon felt very comfortable and made ourselves 'at home'. I was very impressed by that! The interior and the outdoor grounds have such a fun atmosphere and decor with a 'let's party and rock' vibe. There are also areas where you can enjoy your brew from a short distance away from 'the party'. You can hang inside, first or second floor, or outside, where there are tables to sit at! In one evening, we witnessed families, couples, singles...there is something here for everybody. We were sorry not to be able to stay later into the evening! The fun seemed be be JUST BEGINNING! We actually had to go down stairs to find the waitress for more drinks. Don't know how this place stays in business. I cannot fathom how anyone can give this place more than one star!!!! Decided to give this place a second try in hopes that it had improved from when they first opened. Well the second time was far worse than the first......when my husband, son, and I arrived (at 7pm) the downstairs was packed with drunken patrons, so we went upstairs to eat and was told to sit anywhere we would like. The first table we chose was filthy so the waitress said not that one she hadn't cleaned it and never did. Ordered 2 sodas and a prosecco, took 20 mins to get to the table and were in cordial size tasting glasses! The waitress took our appetizer order, a pretzel and jalapeno poppers. After about another 20 mins the apps finally arrived, the pretzel was a frozen one that you would find in the supermarket and was microwaved. It was like rubber and inedible, there were 4 very small poppers that were edible but by no means good. ANOTHER 20 min wait and our dinner order was taken. As we wait for our dinner to arrive I went downstairs to use the restroom, on my way back up the stairs I looked into the kitchen to see the chef/cook chugging a bottle of liquor!!!!! It is now more than 45 mins since our order was put in and the waitress never came to check on us, we decided to leave. We went down to pay for what we received and as our waitress gave us our $27 bill for 3 miniature drinks, a rubber pretzel, and mini poppers a drunk woman fell into me and the cook (who happened to be the owner) stumbled out of the kitchen belligerent. My husband tried to express his discontent to him but it was pointless. I personally wouldn't have paid for anything because the service was absolutely horrendous and the food we did actually receive was disgusting. This place is a joke, don't bother wasting your time or money!!!!!! read more

Ensure the oil they use is fresh to fry any food. The Fried chicken was so dry and the fries were oily, very soft. Like when the oil is not changed in a long time. The kids had mac and cheese and both potions were different. The kids did not eat them as one as chunky and the other was runny. The black bean burger was ok, but the bread was old and chewy. They took off one of the mac and cheese but the waitress said the cook doesn't make them both the same. And that the mac and cheese didn't have time to settle. 1 star for the decor and vibe. Another star for the strong drinks and apps. I've been trying to come to this establishment for quite some time and always ran into an issue. It was either closed or I keep hearing unpleasant experiences from others that tried to give it a chance. I should have listened. Came here on a Friday night to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday with her family and friends. We have a campsite on a nearby property and it's the only bar/restaurant within 10-15 miles. We had a waitress that was new but very sweet and what seemed to be good at her job at first. Ordered drinks and few apps before having the rest of our crew arrive and watch the live band setup and start playing. Fried pickle chips were yummy but could have had a few more for the price. Cauliflower wings are delicious and spicy but it's hard to eat an entire head of it if they don't cut it up in pieces so we could eat it like normal people. The waitress pretty much forgot about us after that. We waited 30 minutes to order our food. I thought she got everyone's order correct. 45 minutes later we still didn't have our food. The waitress finally walked by our large table and asked us if we were waiting for something... (sigh). After that, one by one our dishes came out what seemed like 5 minutes apart from each other. 3 out of the 7 dishes came out that were hot and actually good. 2 of the dishes were ice cold and were supposed to be "sweet potato and black bean tacos" but instead was regular potato with cold, hard tortillas served with a side of cold rice and platano maduros... (strange combo since we were told it came with more beans.) My family member spoke to the chef and he argued with her while rummaging through the garbage with his bare hands to show her the peels which was irrelevant to what he used to make the tacos. Then a few minutes later, he came out of the kitchen to our table with a REGULAR POTATO in his hand, shaking like a leaf that he insists it's a sweet potato. Cool story bro. I was the last to get my order that ended up being wrong which was an hour later. I asked for the food that was wrong or ice cold to be taken off the bill and to pay for our drinks and apps. No questions asked, it was done. However a friend of mine went to speak to the owner who she knew from going there so much and he gave her an attitude and ran to the kitchen to start cleaning dishes to avoid conversation like a child. Very unprofessional for an owner. The most bizarre and most frustrating moments in this whole situation was the fact that every single person that came after us was served drinks and food, ate and paid their bill and left before we even ordered and received our food. Updating an old review here. In the time since it open, Cabernet Franks has matured into a true five star joint. Screw that, six stars. Not only is it a great place to grab some well-prepared, elevated roadhouse-style food and a truly decent cocktail, it's also THE spot in Sullivan County to see relevant live music. Bands from NYC and beyond fill the joint on weekends, turning Parksville into a pop-up Lower East Side from the days of yore. However they do it, the owners manage to book acts that entertain and surprise. Stop in so you can say you were there. Because this spot is on the road to fame or infamy. Or both. read more
