I have had the up most educational service in the GUNS department. The gentleman there by the name of Louis is hands down one the best individuals that is readily available to provide customer service. I found him to be very attentive and thorough. He doesn't rush a person out of the store if he thinks you may not make a purchase, in fact he is complete opposite. He takes his time and has you rest assured that you are provided with all the necessary information regarding the firearm and or firearms you are interested in purchasing. He is the perfect example of how someone in this department should interact with individuals. He doesn't just try to help the pretty girls either, I was in a hoodie with my hair up and still was treated amazingly. After some visits, I'm revising this upward a bit having explored other areas of the store. Guns and Ammo Dept. prices are very competitive (often cheaper than nearby stuff) and people there are friendly and know their stuff! Cabela's has a good selection of hunting and fishing gear, though not as extensive as Bass Pro Shop's. There are usually some hidden gems on sale, and when you're able to find those items, grab them up quickly, they won't be there long. The associates have all been very helpful and knowledgeable. One of the fishing associates stayed off the clock to put the line on my new rod/reel combo I had just purchased. In the archery dept the associates set my draw length and weight for my new compound bow, recommended and cut my new arrows and offered to let me shoot in the range there. They are definitely friendly toward amateurs and willing to offer advice and help! The fudge is amazing and you can try as many free samples as you want :) The only drawback is that dogs are not allowed in store as they are in Bass Pro Shops. However, they do have kennels available to temporarily house your fur baby instead of leaving them in the car. Overall, a great place to spend a rainy afternoon or pick up whatever you need for your next hunting/fishing trip! read more

I love the outdoors and I love the store but I do not love nor do I appreciate being hounded by 7 associates (I counted them this time) every time I go in! If I need assistance I'm pretty sure I can find a green shirt (not even camouflaged) standing beside me! When I turn around they're they are, about 10 feet from me, it doesn't matter if I'm at the other end of the store! It is so aggravating! They have too many associates with nothing to do, I guess! I know they are NOT ASSUMING THAT I AM GOING TO TAKE ANYTHING WITHOUT PAYING! I have spent a lot of time and money with this establishment and to be honest with you I probably won't be back because of the customer service, online would be better and that's a shame! I've bought the vacation and also signed up for the club membership! I got my son a compound bow and wanted to get it fitted for him. Larry in the archery department helped us out big time!!! He put a sight on my sons bow and even fixed everything that was NOT set up correctly! I happened to have my bow in my car and asked if he could take a look at it to see if anything needed to be adjusted (which it did) and he made it perfect! Even waxed my strings! Larry was super professional, helpful and patient as he spent a good 2 hours making our bows perfect! Go see Larry if you want things done right! read more

So my single girlfriend and I visited this place in hopes to buy pepper spray and eyesmack some eye-candy. Boy was it a rude awakening. At the front door, a Cabela's greeter asked us if we had ever been there, being honest we said "No." Seconds later, the eccentric employee takes us on her own version of Cabela's tour (not a regular event) and points out her favorite pet, a snake she named Ralphie. Finally after being to shake her away from us, we see a small variety of pepper spray. There is a smaller inventory of guns. Overall, if you love Duck Dynasty this is the place to be. I don't hunt but I do hike,fish and kayak as my outdoor activities. This place is my adult version of a kid in a candy store. First let me start with the people who work there. Everyone I have dealt with at Cabela's seems very nice and anxious to be of assistance. The prices are a little higher here than what you could find elsewhere if you put in some effort but I like going to Cabela's. They have such a variety and most of their offerings are quality merchandise. Then there is the fudge, my kryptonite is the peanut butter fudge. The fudge tasting station can get busy but if you get there when they open ( just kidding),it's worth a wait. read more

I went in for some black powder and was told it was behind the counter. I was then told I'd have to put my name down on a list in order to get an assistant. Because I needed it and they were the only one to have this particular brand, I decided to wait the 1.5 hour just so they can hand it to me. After messing around on my phone for the hour and a half I was finally seen and allowed to approach the counter only to find that there is a tiny tag in front saying "out of stock" and asked if I could read. Well since they won't let you within 20' of the counter I couldn't read the tiny tag ahead of time and wasted my time since no one there would give me two seconds to check. read more

I walked in to buy a shotgun for my birthday. After inspecting a few, I end up liking a Browning Citori 725 Sporting Shotgun. They're asking almost four thousand dollars for it, which is MSRP on that gun. I inspect the gun and realize it's clearly a used gun. I ask why they are asking the new price for what is clearly a used gun. The first guy tells me that it's obviously a mistake and he'll get the manager. So here comes the manager, he comes out and tries to tell me that even though it's used, "it hasn't been used much." (Now I'm starting to feel like I'm on a shady used car lot, but here we go!) I tell him that I'm not gonna argue about how much it's been used, it's either a used gun or a new gun. A used gun cannot be sold as a new gun. (Duh, right?) His response is to tell me he can probably knock a hundred dollars off the price. A hundred dollars on a four thousand dollar gun? Clearly I will buy a new one somewhere else. Don't buy from the Tracker ATV in the Thornton, CO Cabela's. They are terrible. They don't follow up and follow through. They tell you one thing and do another. We purchased an ATV there and they kept delaying and blaming one problem after the other and my husband finally told them they had one week and if it wasn't there, we were done and low and behold it appeared and then they said they'd give us a deal on a trailer for all our troubles and today he went in to find out what kind of deal and they said there wouldn't be any. So last night I went in to just get a couple bucks of fishing supplies and this older dude approached me and asked if I wanted to join the membership, I said sure and half way filling it out I asked if it was a credit card and the man said "NO" so I kept going and got to the bottom and it's showing me interest and the credit card limit and then I asked this guy again if it was a card and he told me "NO" He said it was for if I ever wanted to upgrade later. Then I said OK and then applied me. Then he says OK let's go walk behind the counter and grab your credit card. I think this is the most ConMan thing I've ever seen in Thornton from a store. So my credit ended up getting hit because of this guy when I'm trying to buy a property. Will never be returning because of this. I suggest more do the same. The staff doesn't care to wear their masks properly, many wearing masks below the nose, despite current laws requiring them to wear masks, and properly. They also don't require customers to wear masks, I saw no less than half a dozen customers not wearing any at all. There is a man who stands by the entrance and allows this to happen. Absolutely sick how this place is full of people who care about their own comfort instead of following the law. read more

I'm new to the outdoor sports scene. I just bought my first pistol online from Cabela's and shipped to this location. I get the email confirmation and head to Cabela's. It's my first time in the store so I ask the lady at the information desk where I pickup a gun i ordered online. She says something along the lines of "It's a gun so you'll be picking it up at the gun counter." I think she realized not every white evangelical male would automatically know the layout of every outdoor sports store, and gets a little more detailed in her directions. My family is with me and they are excited to see all the redneck gear and we get approached about a credit card. We decline right away. As we're looking at the taxidermy like we're at a zoo, we feel eyes on us like we're unknowingly guest animals at that zoo. It's like they'd never seen a family of 6 that haven't been to a Cabela's or Bass Pro Shop before. I head to the gun counter and present my ID. "Is your address current on your license?" I had to come back with some proof of my address from car registration or water bill. Not sure why so specific. Anyway, the guys at the counter seem helpful and let me touch guns. I come back the next day with just my son and we're at the counter. I couldn't find the paperwork requested but I've got everything else. I head to the gun counter and see that all the guys are busy. So I see their sign to scan the QR code to get in queue. After entering my name and number it says "queue is full..." Why would Cabela go through the effort of the signage, website to register in a queue and not use it? We wait near the counter and I see one of the guys who helped me the night before. He's helping another customer so I just wait nearby and he smiles and nods at me. So I'm thinking, okay, he knows I'm here. We look at all the guns in the case and wait some more. I notice all three of these guys go on to help customers who just walked up to the case and start talking to them. Okay, so mommy didn't teach them manners and daddy didn't teach them respect. So I approach the counter and tell them I was here before the guy they're helping. He's a younger guy and patronizes me, "yeah, the queue isn't working and we 'try' to take whose next". No you don't and no you didn't. Anyway, Josh notices and all of a sudden he's available. He looks at my paperwork and I'm asking him if my mortgage statement will work, or if this or that will work. Nope, you need X, Y or Z. Z being a hunter or fishing license. Again, just because I'm in your store doesn't mean I kill and dress my own meat. I pull out a document from Weld county accessors office. He pauses on that one for awhile. It looks really official and has a little logo on it. "I don't know. I'll have to ask about this one." He disappears and I start asking another guy who becomes available for some questions. Josh comes back out and says the paperwork will work as a "supplemental." Now I'm wondering if just about anything addressed to me would work. Anyway, Josh seems irritated that I didn't have x,y or z. He hands me off to this other guy who seems to be struggling with remembering how to check me out. I ask if I can wander around with the gun in the store because I have more shopping to do. Or do I leave it at the counter to pick up. "Yes. But you have to do a background check." Well, duh. He informs me I'm the only one in the state buying a gun but still the process seems to be prolonged. Finally, after finding my son a coon hat, and me ear protection and safety glasses I'm informed that the pistol is ready. Four guys were helping me at this point and they still seemed confused who was supposed to sign what and if my supplemental paperwork was sufficient. I'm just surprised this was new for them. Also he didn't find a holster that would fit. He seemed scared to open a holster or take the gun out of the box to try in a holster. Also, he had no 9mm ammo for the gun, which they're supposed to reserve ammo for new gun buyers. Ultimately they lost out because I could have spent a lot more money at their store. Now I'm going to try other stores and if I have a better experience, won't be shopping at Cabela's. Overall, the day I picked up my handgun, I felt treated like a secondary customer. Was it because I bought the gun online and not in their store? Or is this just how they roll? They seemed willing to take a lot more time with walkup customers who wanted to look at their guns in the case. Do they get commission on a gun sale? read more

So THAT was a scene. This store caters to a certain demographic. Outdoors men and women, ATV riders, camouflage hat (and shirt and shorts) wearers, and of course gun and knife fans. I am none of any of these things. This store is like the plumbing aisle at Home Depot for me. But my husband? He had a great time. He just should have brought a buddy, not me. He looked at their large selection of guns and bought some ammo. I looked at the women's clothes and yawned a lot. I also tried to check out the fudge but it was packed with people in khaki and camo with mullets and I aborted the endeavor. My husband looked for boots but didn't find any he liked. He did like a cross-bow though, but sometimes a wife has to put her foot down. In short, it's an outdoor store with high prices and way too many people on the weekend. I can only speak to the experience that I had here - and for that, I had a splendid time, and enjoyed the help this store afforded me. As I've taken an interest into traditional recurve archery as of late, I wanted to go to a pro shop to get my draw length measured, and get an extra opinion on what draw weight I should probably work with. My roommate saw this as an opportunity to go look at all things hunting and guns, so we made a journey of it. The store, like all Cabela's stores, is sweet. We had enough fun walking around before we got to business. Heading back to the archery section, we met with a terribly helpful man who was able to tell me everything I needed to know and more about the process. It was clear that he was happy to be there, and that he was indeed an archer. Wandering off towards the gun section, we found quite an awesome selection, and had some great chats with the men that were there to help. Furthermore, my roommate had some items he needed to grab, and he did - they had everything he needed. We left accomplished. Couldn't have asked for more! read more

No one else filled in even though there were many other workers there and 45 minutes later our number still had not been called. I'm a fan of all things guns, knives, hunting, fishing, and camping. And luckily Cabela's is a great store to find all of those things. I'm glad to finally see a Cabela's in the Denver area and this location is very nice. It's very large and can be a little intimidating to the newcomer, but fear not, the staff here are more than helpful and are ready to point you in the right direction. A store like this isn't everyone's cup of tea. It's kind of a redneck paradise, but I'm okay with that because I have some redneck blood in my veins. I can wander the store and always find something I may or may not need. I'm usually on the hunt for something sharp, but I can appreciate a good piece of camo, duck decoys, or a $200.00 elk call. If you're into any of the things I mentioned, are in the area flying solo or with a buddy, it will be worth a stop. But if you have the wife with you, it might take some convincing unless she's into wearing pink camo. read more

Beautiful store. That said - management, please consider a solution to the frustrating experience at the gun counter. Specifically, consider a system so your clients are helped in the order they arrive at the gun counter. Last Saturday my husband went to the gun counter to purchase a lightweight rifle for hunting season. There was a wait to speak with a professional and several customers quietly waited at a respectful distance awaiting their turn to speak with staff. Problem: there was no line. Staff had no way of managing the order customers were helped. This is a prime receipe for customer agitation. Your clients are busy Americans and our limited free time is valuable. The easiest way you can respect our time, is to help us in the order we arrive. Anyone could walk up to the gun case, and if you happen to walk up just as staff finished up the with previous person, then you could easily cut off the 12 other people who were waiting before you. Because staff were focused on the client in front of them, they were oblivious to who was waiting 20 minutes, and who literally, walked straight up to the attendant (not realizing all the people around him had been waiting twenty minutes), and that person was helped on the spot. The following is a list of potential solutions starting with the most ideal. 1. Ticket system. Take a ticket, and call the customers in the order they arrived. 2. Create a line. Make the line obvious to everyone who approaches the gun counter. 3. Visually tract clients. Have sales team make mental notes of the order each party arrives. This is the least desirable option, as it will inevitably detract your staff focusing on the client in in front of them. Team Cabella, if you are able to enact a solution to this issue, I would be happy to edit this review. Thank you for considering these recommendations. read more

Customer service is non-existent in the firearms area. Very unprofessional people working there. They act like customers are a nuisance, a problem that needs to be ignored. Although I've experienced it in the past, on this day a bald old man with "John" on his name tag, took extra care in ignoring the customers. Apparently the laptop he was staring at was more important than the actual customers in front of him. I've had more pleasant experiences at the Department of Motor Vehicles. Visited this store again yesterday afternoon to return some online order pants that did not fit. Tried to call the department to see if they had the correct size that I needed and got put into voicemail where no one ever called me back which was disappointing. They have totally rearranged everything in the store in every department except shoes and guns. Witnessed many groups of 3 or more employees standing around shooting the bull all over the store and seemed like they had no interest in helping customers out period. I actually had to break up one group chat in the clothing department to get what I needed taken care of. Overall I don't like the small store Cabela's concept at all. Seems too crowded for shopping down narrow aisles dodging people like a mad bull rush. The gun area was simply horrible it was so crowded. Prefer to do my Cabela's shopping online and avoid coming in here unless I absolutely have to. read more

I don't believe they have as much merchandise as their competitor and their prices are much higher, especially for clothing items. They bargain cave is a disaster and reminded me of the second hand store. They must take back every and anything. There were a few pairs of hiking boots, worn to hell I might add and then put in the cave for half of their original price. No joke. These shoes should have been tossed in the trash or written off. Kind of disappointed in the customer service. We recently shopped at this store and purchased a Northface jacket for $120.00. Shortly after leaving I found the exact same jacket for $79. I immediately went back and asked if they would price match the item. She said they would if it were from a competitor within 50 miles and the exact same item. I showed her the Scheels ad. Her response was to tell me they wouldn't able to match that competitor. I'm not sure I understand, but... After that she turned and just walked away. The other lady refunded my item. Never thought I would find anything but they do have stuff for the "girls"! Pink camo boxer/ pajama shorts! Sooooo cute! My fiance and I needed to get some outerwear for our Thanksgiving trip up north and we found everything we needed and GUMMY FISH!! YUMMY! Oh yes the Cabelas pretzels are incredible. Went over to the gun section and held a pink Sig small caliber pistol! Wow!! Cool! A girl could get use to this store. Also have a great selection of dog bones toys and all your training needs. Originally i had called customer service and some guy who had no idea what he was doing,or so it seemed at least, said i couldnt cancel even though i oredered it a couple hours earlier and it hadnt even shipped yet. He said i would have to wait 2 weeks until it arrived and then send it back. If you're like me and grew up with the annual trek to the Cabela's flagship as part of your childhood, I can understand why you may be disappointed. My parents used to drive us three hours every year to Cabela's to buy snow boots of all things. Okay, it was also an excuse for Dad to stock up for hunting season, but still! The store was a hunter's version of Disneyland with the giant taxidermy display. So, when I heard Thornton was getting Cabela's, I was really excited. This was followed by disappointment when I saw how small the store was in comparison. They were really going to have to work hard to impress me - and, they succeeded. This really is a sportsman's paradise, but I found excellent prices on hiking boots, winter gear and even Under Armour and North Face clothing. The store is constantly crowded, but the staff is helpful and friendly. It doesn't hurt that the clientele for the most part exhibits small town manners - even when crowded, most folks seemed friendly and didn't sweat the lines. There's a small luncheonette, not as big as the dining room at the flagship, but you can get sweets and their legendary fudge. There's a scaled-down taxidermy and aquarium as well. It's much smaller than Bass Pro Shops, but I'm happy to have it in Thornton! It's a great addition to the area, and their customer service and good prices will keep me coming back. read more

I watched Cabela's being built as I pass it often on I25. Since I am not a gun/hunting person, I waited to go until the parking lot was less full. It has and always is pretty maxed out. So, my husband went separate and had a great time looking at all the hunting, fishing, guns, etc. I went separately from him and found it to be great for all those folks liking this stuff, and they had sales, which I liked. Bass Pro shop is more female friendly though. However, high marks, for good sales, which may bring me back the next time I need anything they sell.. I am still amazed at how full the parking lot is at all times of day. read more

Not very PC, but this is sort of a "red necks" Macy's, including work clothes, hiking and camping equipment, fire arms and ammunition, many fishing poles and accessories, etc. All the merchandise seems to be high quality, and the staff is friendly. I had to hunt around for bargains, though some items are on sale. This particular location was relatively new. I would visit again. read more
