    My Cabela's purchase
    Jason S.

Recently while living in N Colorado was wanting to get an E-bike and landed on an Ascend mountain bike. Went in to buy on a Sunday and while I always love Cabela's the service on this day was less than stellar. I had to wait for over an hour just to get help and unfortunately on my visit no one knew anything about bikes. Luckily for me I had done all my research and didn't need any help besides getting the bike for me. Wheeled the bike up myself and even loaded it myself. The value was great but outside of that this was a 100% self serve experience. Not what I am used to from my home store in Boise, Idaho.

Love Cabala's. Hate buying stuff there. I just like walking through. However I had bought a shirt at their San Antonio store that was way to small, and very simply returned it in Thornton CO.

Quite an impressive establishment to explore with so many fake animals and even Santa! However, I didn't find their prices to be that great especially for hiking boots and women's winter outerwear. For example, I saw some Columbia and North Face items that I purchased at Sierra for more than twice the price I paid at Sierra. They did have some decent tunic style sweaters at a reasonable price as well as some good deals on casual boots but know your prices because not everything here is a great deal. Nice selection of flannels and fleece lined jeans for men. Limited selection of ski apparel, most of the stuff was for kids.

I love to find the really odd or funny items. These tickled my funny bone.

Nice store but this one doesn't carry as much selection as Bass Pro Shop. The ladies section seems smaller and my guy didn't find what he's seen at the other store for Buck knives. I know their owned by the same corporation but I can't help but compare the two.

Such a downhill run for this company. Went to get a fly pole travel tube. The section was basically empty unless you wanted 200 dollar zip case. They were also completely out of 4x leaders. Don't spend your money here.

New hunting rifle with bipod stand from Cabela's.

Because of that completely wrong assumption, I never bothered to go in. Fast forward a few years and after reading the reviews here in Colorado I finally decided I had to see it for myself. Yesterday, March 6th, the weather was miserable. Cold, windy, light snow and rain. Not the kind of day you want to be outside, let alone skiing. So I figured it was the perfect day to finally give Scheels a try. I ended up spending five hours in the store and taking more than 250 photos, and this place absolutely blew my mind. There were sports and equipment sections I didn't even know existed. The store truly has everything you could possibly need and then some. What impressed me most was the staff. They were knowledgeable and helpful but didn't hover every five seconds like some stores do, which allowed me to really explore and absorb everything. The shoe selection was outstanding with every kind of running shoe, ski boot, work boot and outdoor footwear you could imagine, and the shoe staff were clearly well trained helping customers. I also spent about 45 minutes in the luggage section, which was surprisingly impressive. It's clearly a curated department run by someone who truly understands travel. I spoke with a luggage specialist who I believe is from Asia and a serious world traveler herself. She was incredibly knowledgeable and immediately understood what I meant when I told her I was tired of hard-sided luggage and wanted something built for an active lifestyle. She introduced me to a beautiful 100-liter Patagonia rolling duffel with durable wheels, strong zippers, and soft-sided construction that can actually handle real travel. These types of bags come with lifetime guarantees on the wheels and zippers, and now I'm officially saving my pennies to buy one. The store itself was alive and buzzing with families, couples, hunters, skiers and outdoor enthusiasts everywhere. The only section that felt a little thin was the women's golf apparel where most of the XS sizes were gone, while the men's golf section was very well stocked. Parking was plentiful and easy. Scheels isn't just a sporting goods store. It's an experience.

Front range angler fly shop was on my radar again after stopping in last year and being impressed by the helpfulness of the staff. Jackson, at the front desk was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable when I asked questions about guided trips and the area, that I had to book a day wading with Amber.(He also is a natural salesman and I had to buy new glasses!! ) I book women guides whenever a fly shop has one available and after speaking with Amber, couldn't wait to go fish with her. Amber was so Friendly, personable, extremely knowledgeable about the rivers and History of the area, having grown up in Boulder and fished for years. She is a natural teacher, fun, and very encouraging and supportive. And best of all- she put me on fish! I even caught a rare Cutthroat .. and lots of Brookies and browns. We were able to avoid the "people hatch"on a busy July day, in the Rocky National park, which was an accomplishment! I plan on using FRA and book Amber on my return trip back home for another experience. She was great. Thanks Priscilla
