I have been browsing the Cabela's used firearms selection online and finally made the trip from Longmont to visit in person. Wow am I glad I did! Everyone I interacted with was SO nice and helpful and happy to talk about their niche firearms expertise. Today I learned about vintage muzzle loaders, shotguns, hunting rifle calibers, and recoil factors... and nobody was rude or condescending. The first guy I chatted with even helped me with my shooting stance and posture (admittedly terrible due to a disability), and asked each time if he could touch me to help with positioning. It was courteous, very helpful, and felt very respectful. 10000 stars for Lou! I was also very grateful to the rifle/hunting enthusiast who handles the buying (didn't catch his name) and brought so many rifles from storage for me to handle and decide on. I ended up trading a rifle that didn't fit me well for ... two. What can I say, hunting season is coming and I've been slacking! I interacted with at least 6 employees in the Gun Library throughout the interaction. I ended up having them set aside the rifle I wanted to buy, and I trekked home to retrieve the trade in rifle to save a bunch of $$ on taxes - great looking out by the staff! Despite being busy when I returned, they remembered me and had my rifle set aside. I had decided to buy a second one I'd been looking at and they pulled that one and its accessories for me as well. I dropped off my trade for them to look over, went browsing for a while and returned to do paperwork about a half hour later. It took probably another 30-45min to complete the trade in, purchase, and background check forms... yet another reason to buy multiple firearms in a single purchase - huge PITA! Important, of course, but it's time consuming. Cabela's of course has many other departments and I can't speak to those today, but I can very highly recommend the firearms section and the Gun Library in particular - they're one of the largest used firearm dealers in the BassPro family in the country and you can tell that with every interaction. Regarding value, there's so many factors in buying used that it's hard to give a helpful feedback. I am happy with the price of each purchase for their condition; one is new in box and was a good amount off retail. They offer discounts for law enforcement and active military (possibly also veterans?) and have occasional sales. read more

My husband is a veteran, former law enforcement officer, and an employee of Cabela's. He has a diagnosed case of PTSD and utilizes a trained service dog as part of his treatment and daily functioning. Despite presenting themselves as a veteran-supportive company, Cabela's corporate HR denied his request to bring his service dog to work. The reasoning given was related to "heavy equipment," however his role is in a retail environment and does not involve working around such machinery. This service dog directly supports his ability to engage with customers and perform his job safely and effectively. Rather than exploring reasonable accommodations, he was told he could either transfer to a lower-paying, stationary role or continue without the service dog. Additionally, there have been concerning comments made by management regarding individuals who rely on PTSD service dogs, which raises further questions about workplace culture and understanding of invisible disabilities. This experience does not reflect the level of support for veterans that the company promotes publicly. I hope this is addressed appropriately so that other veterans do not face similar barriers. read more

What I didn't like was the pushy Marriott timeshare salesperson inside which made my shopping experience lame like I had to avoid the area they were canvassing and cut my shopping short. Recently while living in N Colorado was wanting to get an E-bike and landed on an Ascend mountain bike. Went in to buy on a Sunday and while I always love Cabela's the service on this day was less than stellar. I had to wait for over an hour just to get help and unfortunately on my visit no one knew anything about bikes. Luckily for me I had done all my research and didn't need any help besides getting the bike for me. Wheeled the bike up myself and even loaded it myself. The value was great but outside of that this was a 100% self serve experience. Not what I am used to from my home store in Boise, Idaho. read more

Despite this, my group decided to visit the store to see their selection in person. However, we received no assistance while there. We left and went to Scheels instead, where we found everything we needed, purchased several firearms, and experienced excellent customer service. Quite an impressive establishment to explore with so many fake animals and even Santa! However, I didn't find their prices to be that great especially for hiking boots and women's winter outerwear. For example, I saw some Columbia and North Face items that I purchased at Sierra for more than twice the price I paid at Sierra. They did have some decent tunic style sweaters at a reasonable price as well as some good deals on casual boots but know your prices because not everything here is a great deal. Nice selection of flannels and fleece lined jeans for men. Limited selection of ski apparel, most of the stuff was for kids. read more

Cabela's does not know how to take care of a customer. They are great when I'm buying. They are awful on returns. Not easy, not friendly. They could learn a lot from Costco, Amazon, etc. I have spent thousands of dollars with Cabela's, and they gave me a hard time about a $10 dollar item that they said that is what I needed and in fact I didn't. The store itself is awesome. I went in today for the first time and they have a good selection of pretty much everything. There was a bunch of staff floating around except where we needed them which is my biggest concern and issue with our visit today. We went in to look at some guns and ammo. We walked around the counters and the gun library for about 20 minutes and none of the several employees greeted or offered any assistance. We kept browsing and noticed a QR code to scan in order to join a queue to be assisted. We added ourselves to that and proceeded to wait another 30 minutes without anyone calling our name or asking if we needed help despite the online queue saying we were coming up and to stick around the gun counter. We ended up leaving after waiting for about an hour all together which was a huge bummer because there were several handguns we were interested in. read more

Went to Cabela's to look at a Rifle that I had found online. Got there about 4:50 today. I stood in the back by the guns and waited Patiently till 5:25 pm.. Many other people came and got served before me. I watch as 5 more people come in all around. I then see Michael asking if he could help a couple guys.. I nicely interupted and mentioned that I had already been here waiting for 35 minutes before anyone else. Micheal very sturnly said Sir you need to check in on the tablet. I asked where it was and that I'm sorry I didn't walk in from that Isle so I didn't see it. He could of nicely said oh no problem we will get you next. No he took pride in blowing me off. Well I went over to put my name on the tablet and the tablet was in some messed up brower screen.. looked like someone before me exited whatever operating system they use. So I walked back over and said to Michael Oh the pad is not working. He was 3 feet away but kept looking away from me at the guns.. I said Sir.. he still ignored me. I went louder, Sir, SIR excuse me.. sir then once he couldn't pretend any more I said the check in pad it not working, it is in some browser screen, so I can't check even check in now. What does he say, OH when we get a chance we will check on the pad. So effectively where am I, in no man's land, over 35 minutes with nothing accomplished in my journey to simply get helped... He hasn't said he will help me or anyone else.. just left me with he's not going to help and he will fix the pad someday. ANYWAY.. I have never seen such a rude guy! I came in happy at the end of the day. Also after Michael said for me to check in on the pad.. only then did I start hearing names called out by another register. IF in the beginning I would have heard a name I would of known to go looking for a pull tab or number system etc... Anyone could of said OH sir sorry, I'll make sure someone gets to you next, thanks for being patient. Cabellas dishonest bait and switch merchandise signs Let me preface this review with, I think the quality of the merchandise and the sales staff at Cabella's in Thorton, Colorado is very good. My issue is with the management about the dishonesty of the signs above the merchandise racks. Bottom line is, what they charge at the register is not what the signs they have over the merchandise say. I was charged $29.99 each for 2 shirts and the Large sign over the display said $24.99. When I pointed this out to the sales clerk she said she would happily get a manager to correct this. Karen the manager said that they charged more for larger sizes as it said on the sign. But the sign clearly said they only charged more for sizes 3xl and larger. Yet my purchase was for a 2xlt and Karen still refused to correct it. She said that corporate sends them the signs, like that excuses the bait and switch pricing. Karen refused to correct the discrepancy back to the stated signage. I would have happily paid the $29.99 price had it said so on the sign but I HATE bait and switch scams. I'm sad to say I will not shop or buy gift cards at Cabella's again. I am filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General. If you have this problem please do the same. They were supposed to send me my merchandise to a local local store for a pickup. In a week I grew a little bit impatient so I called back. My husband just got into fly fishing & Jack got him completely set up & even showed us the right way to tie the line. This place is trash. I wanted to buy a new Glock and my parents , both just got their ccw last week; wanted a new handgun. Got there, old guy at the gun counter told us it would be a few minutes and had us check in via their app. After 45 min of waiting and 2 clerks doing Jack but walking around we left. In that 45 min time I saw two other people walk in and got help immediately. It's cool, I usually buy all my firearms from local gun shops but my dad had a 100$ gift card to cabela so I figured we can save 100$. So not worth it, mofo's wasted my time. I have had the up most educational service in the GUNS department. The gentleman there by the name of Louis is hands down one the best individuals that is readily available to provide customer service. I found him to be very attentive and thorough. He doesn't rush a person out of the store if he thinks you may not make a purchase, in fact he is complete opposite. He takes his time and has you rest assured that you are provided with all the necessary information regarding the firearm and or firearms you are interested in purchasing. He is the perfect example of how someone in this department should interact with individuals. He doesn't just try to help the pretty girls either, I was in a hoodie with my hair up and still was treated amazingly. I will forever be a returning customer for as long as he remains at the thornton Cabelas's. SOMEONE please give this man a raise! read more

Nice store but dumb policies. I found an airsoft gun for my son and decided to look up reviews for it on Amazon. While reading reviews I noticed it was 40% cheaper on Amazon. Same product same manufacturer's sku. Amazon Prime with 2 day delivery. I took it to the front desk asked if they would price match and they wold not price match Amazon didn't even look at the price. So we left the product at the front desk and left and I ordered it in the way to my car. Places like this will not survive unless they even attempt to compete with Amazon. read more
