I brought my 1997 BMW here and it failed the first time. The technician was very helpful in providing information about how it might pass and even printed out info about where to buy a catalytic converter. I think it failed because my catalytic converter wasn't hot enough. Also, I added CRC which cleans the intake system and inflated my rear tires. When I returned to the CA Express Smog the same tech was there and retested my car for $35. It passed. He shook my hand and congratulated me. read more

Easiest smog check of my life! Pulled up at around 1pm on a Saturday. There was no wait and the guy there immediately started to work on my car as the lady helped me fill out paperwork. The lady kept me company as my car was getting checked. In about 10 minutes, my car was done and I was ready to go. They automatically send the smog check to the dmv and give you a copy as well. OMG!! I love these people. I forgot about the smog cert part of my registration, so here it is Sunday, and I'm thinking, "Hmmm... I should be able to knock this one out." NOT!! Hardly any smog checks open on Sundays. Then I came across this little gem of a business on YELP. Not only were they nice and polite, the price was right, and they took me right away (ok, I was second in line). Maybe I was lucky on the short wait part, but there's an El Pollo Loco across the street, so who can complain. Anyway, the woman who helped me (I think she's one of the owners) was so chit-chatty and fun, they did a fine job, and they got me out lickety-split...ON A SUNDAY!!! Fast and economical. Easy access on the corner of Redondo and Anaheim in the Mobil station lot. Plenty of parking. My 2008 Honda was pulled in for testing within minutes of my arrival. Everything looked neat and organized. Waited in the little waiting area where I could see my car but sit with a magazine. Before I read more than a couple of pages, my car was completed with no issues! I used a coupon and was on my way within 15 minutes or less. The employee is a really cool guy but he's hard headed. He kept insisting that my 2000 Honda Civic had two catalytic converters one in the front and one in the bottom.. He Failed me with TAMPERED, CATALYTIC CONVERTER MISSING because I had recently removed one from the bottom and it was replaced by a chrome piece of pipe. I tried to explain to him that he was wrong And that I went to Techs Muffler shop down the street( 5 ***** reviews) and got it removed because it didn't belong there and got the original catalytic converter replaced. I tried to show proof to the smog tech but he refused to listen to me. He also told me to go get any catalytic converter it doesn't matter which one it is I just want to see one down there. I was not about to waist more money. I left, went to Techs shop and he called the smog station and straightened out the manager. He argued with him stating that "I did everything by the book and my customer should of not failed the smog your guy is wrong and placing another converter in the bottom is against the law and I could get fined for putting on a illegal converter, your employee needs to check my customers receipt and paper work". Long story short I went back to the smog shop and it passed with flying colors. Moral of the story is if you work at smog station please know how many converters are in car and always listen to your customer. read more
