It was that time of year again.... time for the bi-annual smog test, oh joy! The problem is my damn check engine light came on a couple weeks ago, CRAP! I go to the local Ford dealer, they plug it their little computer, check the trouble code (O2 sensor) and clear the light. Now being the rocket scientist that I am, I think "Great, I'll go smog it before the light comes on again" and drove directly to the smog check place. WRONG answer dumb ass!! The problem with this strategy is... once the check engine light is reset, it also resets the computer, erasing all driving / running history. If there is no history of how the engine is operating over a period of miles, it will fail the test... and mine did. ARRGG!! I replaced the O2 sensor Saturday and drove to San Diego and back on Sunday. 212 miles? More than enough, Schweet! I head back to the smog check place where it failed a couple weeks before, not knowing if they'd be open. But oh joy, they were open! The owner, who is normally at his other location, LB Express Smog on Redondo, just North of PCH, was here today. So he put the truck on the rollers, puts it through the battery of tests and it NOW passes with flying colors! And being that it failed before, they'll do a free re-test! WAAHOO!! read more

When the DMV sent me the dreaded notice of a smog check required, I immediately thought this process will be unforgiving. So I took to Yelp to research some stations. Low and behold, I stumbled across this gem. Word must be out about it, as when I pull up... not a single person in line. People must be able to fit this into their already busy day... thinking they can come in, get it done, and go. That's exactly what I experienced. Before I was able to get out of my car... I was greeted and was told "let's get you on your way". "Oh, you have a coupon... great. Step in my office." The process took less than 10 minutes. Such an amazing place. This is going to be a very short review because I had a very short experience (which is exactly what I want out of a smog check). I needed to get my car checked for my registration so I drove in on a random afternoon without any calling or appointments. There was no wait and they took my car right away and, probably 15 minutes later, I was all done. They send the information to the DMV and give you a printout so you're covered in two ways. Bam! Incredibly painless and incredibly easy. I bumped the rating up to 5 stars because the guy was really nice and personable, we chatted for a bit about the car and other small talk. Really friendly place and it made the experience enjoyable, if a smog check can ever be called that. Oh, and the price is cheaper than anywhere else I've found because of the coupon! read more

I was referred here by my sister who got her smog done here last year. I did mine a few years back and it cost $50 excluding fees which ended up being $60. Here work coupon it all ended up being $47, I believe $35 with $5 off coupon. Now they do charge extra if your car is an SUV so I suggest calling in for pricing. The people here were quick and nice. There was a few magazines to read to pass the time though smartphones the way to go. Car passed and hopefully they'll keep their prices low. read more

This place is great. Sadly, since my car is no longer a toddler, I had to bring it in for its first smog check. Fortunately, it was incredibly quick and painless. The entire process from check-in to paying took about 7 minutes. I came in on an early Saturday afternoon and the car ahead of me was wrapping up when I pulled in.
