Professional, punctual and done right - isn't that what we all want from our contractors and tradesmen and women? That's what I got with C Read & Son Electric. Jacki does a great job organizing and scheduling the work and our two jobs serviced by Clarence were done to perfection. Job 1: new line into our garage door for a freezer. Clarence did a great job making a clean and professional looking conduit run from our panel into the garage and placed an outlet exactly where needed in our garage. Clarence came out to review the job, provided an estimate. On the day of, he showed up at the scheduled time and knocked out the work efficiently and within his time estimate. The work areas did not have any debris or loose nuts and bolts laying around and the panel and outlet were clean and professional looking. I was impressed. Better yet Clarence's emphasis on making sure things are not just to code but also maximum safety is reassuring. Great experience and we immediately booked him for another job. Job 2: new j-box, outlet and outdoor ceiling fans. We are doing a massive renovation in our yard due to severe drainage issues but also to put finishing touches on our new porch area. Same exact experience as before. Clarence gave an estimate, was punctual, replaced one tired ceiling fan and added a second. He was super helpful in explaining how the job would go, placing the new fan and knocking out the work. He did a full setup that included making sure the fans were working right, including ensuring both fans worked with one remote and worked through a switch issue to ensure everything worked just right. The work ended up being less than the estimate and I was charged less - that rarely happens. Every time Clarence is on site, he's friendly at the start and finish but while he's working he's focused and works hard. Jacki has been pleasant, friendly and even fun to talk with while scheduling jobs, working payments or sharing information. I had to call an electrician, after we'd purchased a new dryer, b/c our old one just quit working. It wouldn't even turn on. So we go out and spend $600 on a dryer, had it delivered. Plugged it in and IT wouldn't turn on. Obviously the dryer wasn't the problem. But my wife was smiling, she has a new dryer! I called other electricians, but many couldn't even come out for 2 weeks. Others gave me bids, to run a 220 Outlet thru conduit, over the top of my house (Flat Roof w/no Attic) and into the breaker box. That's where Clarence comes in. I'd received C. Read and Sons number from a local neighborhood app we use. They came highly recommended. So I gave them a call and scheduled an appointment. Clarence showed up 2 days after contacting him. Jackie set up our appointments and he was right on time. He goes right to the Breaker box and flips the Breaker, instant trip! He comes and checks the 220 outlet. It's dead too. He switches the dryer onto another breaker and it didn't trip. He confirmed the Breaker was bad! Now, I've lived many years and honestly, have never seen a Breaker actually go bad. So Clarence replaces the Breaker, turns on power and the outlet itself, was still dead. In that same amount of years I've lived, I've never actually seen, a 220 outlet go bad either. Especially after working, without a problem for 25 years. With that said, what are the chances that BOTH of them go bad, at the exact same time? Especially after working uninterrupted for 25 years? I HIGHLY recommend Clarence and will definitely use him again! He actually did troubleshooting to isolate the problem, instead of just giving me a price for the most expensive option! This post is a few months late, but I want to give great kudos to C Read and Son for fixing a mess in backyard. I did a complete make-over of my pool and landscaping, as part of this I had an outdoor ceiling fan and tv installed in my covered patio. The company that did this work for me left exposed wiring that looked amateurish, and a poorly installed ceiling fan that wobbled horribly when set on high speed. I won't mention the company but let's just say they were "uniquely" bad. Though we had to wait several weeks (because of their high demand) it was very well worth it. Clarence hid all the wiring and set up the everything perfectly with a remote controlled switch. The price also was very reasonable and I appreciate that they made sure we were 100% happy with the work. I have and will continue to recommend C Read and Son. read more
