Many months ago, I was notified by my water company that I had a possible leak. I hired another company - American Leak Detection (ALD) - but after two visits they could not find the source of the leak, and pretty much sent me on a wild goose chase trying to find the source of the leak. If you want to know all of the details about my experience with ADL, you can read my review of my experience with that company on Yelp. So, to make a long story short, I hired C. Cruz and they found the leak, and it was a big one. I have attached a photo of where the leak was detected (X marks the spot), and two videos of the leak itself. Sal was the tech who found the leak. Thanks Sal! read more

Chris was a God-send - our family was so distressed to learn of a leak that cost us an extra couple of hundred dollars/mo. Chris was wonderful - he reminded me of my brother, a combat veteran - level-headed, cool, calm, and assuring. Chris was able to dispatch Ulysses the very same afternoon and we are grateful for being squeezed in on such short notice. Ulysses was excellent - prompt, professional, communicative, and thoughtful. He was able to trace a leak to an irrigation valve and recommended mitigation actions. I would HIGHLY recommend this company and their services! Thank you so much! read more

So we had a leak near our front door. It looked like it was coming from under the house where a toilet was exactly inside. I called quite a few people before Chris identified the issue. First our normal plumber. He couldn't access the crawl space under the toilet. So I called American Leak Detection: No Joy so I'm now down $650. It wasn't a waste, they found 3 other leaks, but not anything near the problem spot. I ended up tearing out the floor near the toilet to create a crawl space opening. Again, no joy. The HVAC system was in the way. I called another plumber I respected and used (Sunnyvale Plumbing) they also couldn't determine the issue. They referred me to Chris. As soon as I contacted him, even though he is usually booked out for a week, he was able to stop by my house that afternoon. He asked a couple of questions and after telling him everything that happened, he deduced it wasn't a leak but a natural spring seeping out. He pointed out the algae that was growing where the water was pooling and said that if that was treated city water algae wouldn't grow that easy. He also identified a spring across the court that was spilling out in all its glory with tons of algae. And here I thought someone was overzealous in watering their lawn as there are a lot of houses uphill of us. Apparently, springs popping up happens all over the area, especially in the foothills where we live. Well, that started to make sense and he suggested I call SJ Water to come test for chlorine in it. They confirmed it wasn't treated. They also confirmed there were springs reported at two other properties on the court. I feel like if I had gone with them first instead of American Leak Detection, I could have saved a lot of time and money. This family has been doing this for many, many years. Unlike American Leak Detection they are not a huge operation with technicians that they train to come out and do troubleshooting by the numbers. I'm not sure if the Chris that came out was Father or Son, but I'm sure it doesn't matter. Don't get me wrong. American Leak Detection is ok, I've used them more than once and don't have any complaints. But if you want better than OK, call up these guys! Bravo Maestro Chris! Great service, extremely knowledgable and he didn't charge me for his expertise. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you call C. Cruz before any others. read more

Worked with them to detect hot water leak. Exceptional service. The team was very professional in identifying the leak and recommending the fix to the plumber. Made a very complex job look super easy :D Definitely recommend them! read more

Chris and Ulysses were great. On the first call, Chris took the time to understand my problem, discuss their process, and point out risks. Ulysses came to do the leak detection. We talked through every step of the work and I learned a lot in the process. Ulysses detected a leak in one location and I promptly called my plumber to dig up the line. I panicked a little at first because the main line was DEEP and we could initially reach it. Ulysses continued to communicate over the phone with suggestions, even planning to come back out alongside my plumber to help. Fortunately we exposed the leak without a further visit. They saved me a lot of money, the other bids were quite a bit more expensive. read more

My plumber hired C Cruz before and I myself used American leak detection at a different site so I kind of know how they operate. I decided to call C Cruz as this house has radiant and everything is in or under the slab. Chris Sr. and his tech identified the underground leak fairly quick. They also marked where the water lines are and let me know how the pipes run. Chris Sr. has gone extra miles spending time to figure out my over-complicated pipe madness in the utility closet as the radiant/tankless/tank all involved. Several plumbers in the past refused to work in this closet as they couldn't figure things out-that's how messy it is. Sr. explained things in details and made several logical suggestions how the problem can be solved at the minimum costs as possible. Sr.'s suggestion helps me to avoid digging and this is probably the best money I've ever spent and one of the best contractors I've ever used. Highly recommended. read more

Prompt, professional, polite, courteous, and very thorough. The technicians name was SAL and he was so professional and really took pride in his work. It was very impressive watching him pay close attention to detail. I explain to him what the project was all about. He completely understood and didn't excellent job, identifying the underground sewer, Gas, and electric. I will use them for future projects where USA will not come out. Thank you. Sal for a really great job. Ron read more

C Cruz was great to work with. Good communication. On-time. And found the issue fast. Definitely using them again if needed.

I've used Chris's company many times over the years. They are very reliable and thorough.

Thank you for exceptional service! They came out the day I called them, found the leak quickly, marked it clearly, and charged me a very fair price. Couldn't ask for anything more! read more

Came in my apartment to check a water leakage. They were professional, knowledgeable, and kind. Appreciate it!

What an excellent service provider! Highly recommended. A week ago today we got the bad news from our water utility meter reader that we had a water leak. Of course we had no clue where it was since all the faucets, the water heater, the toilets and the crawl space had no signs of leakage. Based on a solid referral we called C. Cruz. Sal showed up on time the next day and went right to work. After some sleuthing he marked out a suspected leak location 4 ft below grade in the area of our main feed line and then cleaned up nicely. Very professional, friendly, punctual and, as it turned out, ACCURATE service. The plumbers who came to diagnose/repair the leak in the suspected location the next day dug straight down to find a large crack within 6 inches of the very spot Sal had marked from 4 ft up. Which meant the plumbers didn't need to waste a minute of time digging to either side of the predicted failure location. They liked that and so did we. Thank you Sal and C. Cruz! read more

We had a leak in the main water line leading to our house. Our property is over an acre, and the plumbers we hired were unable to locate the leak, so we called Chris Cruz at C. Cruz Sub-Surface Locators. Cris and Ulysses came out and using their specialized equipment, they were able to locate the leak, which was underneath our driveway in just a couple of hours. After Cris and Ulysses located the leaking pipe, the plumbers were able to make the repair, and our water was restored the same day. I highly recommend this company to anyone in need of their services. Thanks Chris and Ulysses for a fine job! read more

My most recent water bill was huge so I went looking for leak detection companies. I called a couple but only Chris Cruz called me back, the same day. Before coming out he gave me tips to narrow down where the leak might be and with his help we were able to identify one of our toilets as the issue. It had a faulty flap and once that was replaced the leak disappeared. Chris was so helpful and responsive, if I could give him more than 5 stars I would! Highly recommend. read more

C Cruz came out to our property a year ago to help us find a leak. After spending time mapping out our pipes they found that the leak somehow went away, and it managed to stay plugged for nearly 6 months. When the leak returned we didn't hesitate to give them another call and so they were back within a few days to do their work. They not only did their job, but they also made sure we had all the information we needed to make the right decision on how to fix our issue. Their commitment to getting the job done right is why I would recommend them to anyone else who finds themselves dealing with leaky pipes. read more

Best people to call if you need a water leak located. You may have to wait until they get to you, but worth the wait.

I had slab leakage in my house. I called multiple plumbing companies to see if they can detect it and fix it. Most of them I asked me to call C-Cruz to detect the leakage. So I called him and left a voice mail and Chris called me back and gave me an appointment. Chris came and tried to locate the leakage. He had already informed me on the phone that it's very difficult to pinpoint leakage if you have wooden or laminated flooring. And I had laminated flooring. He marked the plumbing layout and he was able to accurately pin point the leakage location under the laminated flooring. The cost was around 300$. Really great guy and very professional. I would definitely recommend him for slab detection job. Remember they are very busy so they might not pick up your phone so make sure to leave a message. Ketan read more

When we did copper repiping with Nelson Plumbing (also Five Star for Nelson Plumbing), we found the need to locate our sewer. PJ from Nelson Plumbing recommended C. Cruz and gave him a call. Cruz was recommended by our amazing plumbers in the wake of a sinkhole and assumed leak on our property line. Cruz Sr. was extremely prompt in returning my frantic call. I've been dealing with a sub surface leak in the fresh water line to my house. I called C. Cruz because they were recommended by the plumber I've hired (who does not do leak location), and because their Yelp reviews were excellent. I was not disappointed. I can't express how impressed I am with the professionalism and technical abilities shown by C. Cruz. The price was eminently fair (wish my plumbing repairs by another plumber were the same.) When you need the best, C. Cruz is it, hands down. read more

Wow! I just spoke to Chris from CCruz and he gave me so must insight into a water leak problem that I am having. He talked to me for about 30 minutes. Explained what made sense and what didn't including why his company would not be the right fit for me and saved me hundreds of dollars if not thousands as well as headaches all for free over the phone. I am so happy to see that there are still people out there that have integrity and really care about people as well as their own craft. Thank you Chris! read more

C. Cruz is the most experienced locator you will ever find. If you have a leak in your water or gas piping under a cement slab, call these guys. They will pinpoint it exactly! I am a small plumbing contractor and we have used other locators in the past, only to find out after breaking concrete that the locate was not accurate. This ends up costing the contractor time and money, and you can't go to your customer later and say that you need more money because you didn't locate the problem accurately, so it hurts to use the wrong company. They are very reasonable, too. They are dependable and have great service. I will use them again in the future. read more

This company is the best....responsive....professional...friendly...quick. Highly recommend

Many thanks to Chris Jr. for helping me to troubleshoot a problem that multiple plumbers either could not or were unwilling to make the effort to solve. We lost water flow to an outdoor kitchen and automatic pool filler. We did not know the complete layout of the plumbing, only the plumbing we could see for the outdoor kitchen area and the pool equipment pad. Chris spent 35+ minutes on the phone listening to my explanation of the issue and what we had tried so far, including leak detection (no leaks found). Chris suggested another simple test to determine how the plumbing was run. His suggestion helped us (and our pool guy) to determine that the likely issue was a pressure reducing backflow valve on the other side of the house that others had disregarded as a possible part of the plumbing line in question. After my initial call, Chris invited me to call back and bounce questions off him as needed. I've rarely experienced this level of customer service. read more

Chris responded to our request to survey a property for existing utilities within 3 hours. These guys have come out a couple times to our house to do video inspection of our sewer line. 7 years ago, we had a leak in our front yard. A landscape company and a plumbing company that we hired took turns to dig around the yard without being able to diagnose the source of the leak. I reached out to Chris and scheduled an appointment. Before his team came, I noticed that the leak continued after we turned off the water main. I contacted Chris again who suggested that the leak may not be from our property and we should contact the water company first. He was totally right. The water company came out and fixed the problem the next day. Chris' free advice over the phone saved us from destroying the front yard and wasting a lot of money. Fast forward to last week, we heard water running but no one was using water. I reached out to Chris for help. He managed to squeeze me in for an appointment the next day. He and his partner showed up early and were able to detect the leak under the house within 15 minutes (They didn't even have to go down the crawl space!) Instead of charging me the 2 hour minimum fee that I had agreed to over the phone, he only charged me for 1 hour. Strongly recommend Chris and his company for their expertise and kindness. read more

Came out within a day of calling for a video inspection. Was a little expensive, but they had the right gear, took only 30 minutes to cam my whole sewer line and write up a quick report on their findings. For $300-ish, they gave me a DVD keepsake of my sewer line from end to end. Fortunately for me, that's where this story ends as my sewer line was completely intact and No Trouble Found. He came out the next day. I had a 2-hour window and he came right in the middle of it and called ahead when he was on his way. Very professional and courteous. Little things like telling me how I could use my neighbors to get water rather than the good old bucket and pan method, making sure that everything filled since they had to turn the water on. I was curious and he was great about explaining what they were doing and how it worked. Cost was reasonable. Leak was exactly located for when the plumber came out. read more

Chris and his assistant did an excellent job, and completed a big job in a very reasonable amount of time. Highly recommend!

I have a water leak at home, so I called them to find out the options I have. Chris diagnosed over the phone and eventually recommended me an option that would NOT involve C Cruz!!! I mean he could have easily "just" spoken about their service but he asked me several questions about my piping, length of use etc and eventually suggested to get the piping replaced (instead of fixing a leak) as that is more long term solution in my case. I appreciate their honesty. Thanks Chris! read more

We had water in an area under the carpet in our old Eichler home. Bullseye leak detection charged us $325 for a rough estimate of where the leak might be, and recommended a repipe. We spent $15,000 to repipe our entire house, but it turned out the leak was in our radiant heating system, and most likely not our indoor plumbing. This time we called C. Cruz who was recommended by our radiant heat guy. Chris Sr. and his assistant came out right away, and located the leak under our kitchen cabinets. They only charged me $250 after hearing that we had already thrown away our money with the first leak detector. In order to pinpoint the leak, Chris Sr. recommended that we remove the cabinets, which turned out to be water damaged underneath. C. Cruz came back a second time, free of charge, and pinpointed the leak so it can finally get repaired properly. I like that this is a family business. The communication was excellent, the service was prompt and professional, and the results were reliable. read more

We had a major plumbing job planned and the plumber recommended C Cruz to locate the gas, sewer and water lines in the front. They showed up on time and did a through survey, marked everything clearly and even helped diagnose an oddity in our sewer line that helped us select the right kind of sewer line replacement method. They also gave us some suggestions on relocating the water lines when the time comes. We walked away with a DVD of the sewer line inspection and more confidence. And when PG&E failed to show up to mark the gas lines, we were able to direct the diggers to work on another area until they finally moseyed their way to our house. read more
