So we had a leak near our front door. It looked like it was coming from under the house where a toilet was exactly inside. I called quite a few people before Chris identified the issue. First our normal plumber. He couldn't access the crawl space under the toilet. So I called American Leak Detection: No Joy so I'm now down $650. It wasn't a waste, they found 3 other leaks, but not anything near the problem spot. I ended up tearing out the floor near the toilet to create a crawl space opening. Again, no joy. The HVAC system was in the way. I called another plumber I respected and used (Sunnyvale Plumbing) they also couldn't determine the issue. They referred me to Chris. As soon as I contacted him, even though he is usually booked out for a week, he was able to stop by my house that afternoon. He asked a couple of questions and after telling him everything that happened, he deduced it wasn't a leak but a natural spring seeping out. He pointed out the algae that was growing where the water was pooling and said that if that was treated city water algae wouldn't grow that easy. He also identified a spring across the court that was spilling out in all its glory with tons of algae. And here I thought someone was overzealous in watering their lawn as there are a lot of houses uphill of us. Apparently, springs popping up happens all over the area, especially in the foothills where we live. Well, that started to make sense and he suggested I call SJ Water to come test for chlorine in it. They confirmed it wasn't treated. They also confirmed there were springs reported at two other properties on the court. I feel like if I had gone with them first instead of American Leak Detection, I could have saved a lot of time and money. This family has been doing this for many, many years. Unlike American Leak Detection they are not a huge operation with technicians that they train to come out and do troubleshooting by the numbers. I'm not sure if the Chris that came out was Father or Son, but I'm sure it doesn't matter. Don't get me wrong. I decided to call C Cruz as this house has radiant and everything is in or under the slab. Chris Sr. and his tech identified the underground leak fairly quick. They also marked where the water lines are and let me know how the pipes run. Chris Sr. has gone extra miles spending time to figure out my over-complicated pipe madness in the utility closet as the radiant/tankless/tank all involved. What an excellent service provider! Highly recommended. A week ago today we got the bad news from our water utility meter reader that we had a water leak. Of course we had no clue where it was since all the faucets, the water heater, the toilets and the crawl space had no signs of leakage. Based on a solid referral we called C. Cruz. I had slab leakage in my house. I called multiple plumbing companies to see if they can detect it and fix it. Most of them I asked me to call C-Cruz to detect the leakage. So I called him and left a voice mail and Chris called me back and gave me an appointment. Chris came and tried to locate the leakage. He had already informed me on the phone that it's very difficult to pinpoint leakage if you have wooden or laminated flooring. And I had laminated flooring. He marked the plumbing layout and he was able to accurately pin point the leakage location under the laminated flooring. The cost was around 300$. Really great guy and very professional. C. Cruz is the most experienced locator you will ever find. If you have a leak in your water or gas piping under a cement slab, call these guys. They will pinpoint it exactly! I am a small plumbing contractor and we have used other locators in the past, only to find out after breaking concrete that the locate was not accurate. This ends up costing the contractor time and money, and you can't go to your customer later and say that you need more money because you didn't locate the problem accurately, so it hurts to use the wrong company. Many thanks to Chris Jr. for helping me to troubleshoot a problem that multiple plumbers either could not or were unwilling to make the effort to solve. We lost water flow to an outdoor kitchen and automatic pool filler. We did not know the complete layout of the plumbing, only the plumbing we could see for the outdoor kitchen area and the pool equipment pad. Chris spent 35+ minutes on the phone listening to my explanation of the issue and what we had tried so far, including leak detection (no leaks found). Chris suggested another simple test to determine how the plumbing was run. His suggestion helped us (and our pool guy) to determine that the likely issue was a pressure reducing backflow valve on the other side of the house that others had disregarded as a possible part of the plumbing line in question. 7 years ago, we had a leak in our front yard. A landscape company and a plumbing company that we hired took turns to dig around the yard without being able to diagnose the source of the leak. We had water in an area under the carpet in our old Eichler home. Bullseye leak detection charged us $325 for a rough estimate of where the leak might be, and recommended a repipe. We spent $15,000 to repipe our entire house, but it turned out the leak was in our radiant heating system, and most likely not our indoor plumbing. This time we called C. Cruz who was recommended by our radiant heat guy. Chris Sr. and his assistant came out right away, and located the leak under our kitchen cabinets. They only charged me $250 after hearing that we had already thrown away our money with the first leak detector.
