Purchased a used 2019 Subaru Forester from C&S in May 2025. During the test drive we noticed the A/C was weak and mentioned it to the salesman. He said "it works, comes on eventually". Back at the store we asked to see the Carfax report to see what it said about the A/C. The report clearly shows their service department worked on the A/C two months prior. After a few days, it was clear the A/C did not work and did not "come on eventually". It cost over $1,000 to have it repaired. I do not recommend. read more

The car wasn't vacuumed, let alone had ceramic coating applied. Confirmed through local detailer that my vehicle had no coating applied. It's easy to tell if a car has been clay bared and ceramic coating applied... just basic wax alone will have your hand slipping off upon contact. Your hand drug on my car... there was nothing but friction. What does this mean? No ceramic applied. It came with a dash mat that connected to Velcro strips on the dash. No way ceramic coating was applied ..who sells a car with 2,800 miles and leaves a dash mat on the car WHEN THE CUSTOMER PAID FOR CERAMIC COATING. The Sales Manager Fred walked that back with "oh they did everything else except that." These people are crooks. Complaint filed with the AG Consumer Protection Division. Paid cash and they didn't even vacuum the vehicle... Once I complained, the day it was delivered, Kevin Seng (My Sales Rep) and Jeff, (finance guy) ghosted me. Moved from Oregon to Iowa. Towed a small trailer from an Outback. Just wanted a check up and for them to look a few things on my mind. After a literal 7.5-hour diagnostic, in which they knew I was waiting patiently, they brushed off all of my legitimate concerns, made up some new stuff that would cost me another couple thousand, and then charged me $300 for the diagnostic. I then went to Midas in Cedar Falls where they did the exact same diagnostic for half the price, in 45 minutes, then proceeded to flag the exact things I was trying to get fixed in the first place, and proceeded to fix them, giving me a discount due to my financial difficulties, and being finished in a third the time it took C&S to invent fake problems. C&S is the only certified Subaru that I know of in Waterloo. But their service was the worst I've ever received. I had to break my spell of only going to certified Subaru joints. And I'm not sad about that. read more

5/5/23 I stopped in as I had to "have a code cleared". I was told by Sam at the desk that it would be 1 hour and $75. Ok. I waited in the customer area. After 90 minutes, I went back to the service desk to see how much longer it was going to be. I was then told that Sam was at lunch but Chas would deal with me. Huh? So Chas found my paperwork, and rudely stated that since he hadn't dealt with me he wasn't up to speed on this. I tried to explain what was discussed prior but he walked off to the shop to talk to someone else. He came back and told me the bill was over $300 AND they couldn't clear the code. WHAT!??!? The programing was only going to be $75 but they did extensive diagnostic to determine the issue. If you are going to quadruple the bill, don't you think you should talk with the customer?!??! When I questioned this, all I was told was that this is what they did. THEN they offered to charge me another $500 to fix it. Enroute to the cashier, he took off with the paperwork to help someone else and I was left standing there waiting to pay my bill so I could leave. I had to go and find him to get the paperwork. This is crazy!!! I paid $312 for the honor of sitting in the waiting room for 90 minutes while they did NOTHING to fix my problem. Zero Credibility! Negligent and Egotistical I took my Hyundai Sonata to them to check out a check engine light and BlueLink. At first they're very nice. They even gave me a nice, new, loaner car while they worked on mine. But everything changed when I got my car back. The second I drove it off the lot I heard an awful noise and I quickly turned around and went back asking them how the inspection listed on the detail sheet could miss something so loud and obvious. Mr. Sam said he was unaware of anything. He said to keep an eye on it. Later in the day I took it to another service center to be looked at because it seemed really concerning and once they finished with it, they brought out a cleanly broken strut from the front-left-side of my vehicle! The new service center staff were absolutely horrified and amazed how something so severe and dangerous could have been missed during an inspection and more so even be allowed to be driven. One wrong bump in the road and who knows what could have happened to me and my passengers? This type of mistake is not acceptable whatsoever. It may even be classified as negligent in a court of law, as to be determined by legal counsel. I called them back immediately once I knew this and gave Sam the earful he needed to hear from putting me in a dangerous situation. I am not saying they broke my strut repairing my car. However, something happened to my vehicle while it was under their supervision that should have been taken of through the inspection listed on the report of the work performed and Sam refused to put his pride aside and take any responsibility for their mistakes. He said, "I'm not going to do anything about it." At this point I never want to step foot in their dealership again. I would highly recommend for everyone to go elsewhere for their car needs. I think after today, I cannot avoid it. I have purchased 2 new Hyundais from them and my son one. We have had a repeated issue with their service department over the years. In the past two weeks (with the temperature at 90+) my son's A/C went out. He had the extended warrenty so took a day off from work, I think two weeks ago yesterday. They said they fixed it. A few days later it was blowing hot. This time I took it in. They said they needed to order a part and it would not be here until last Friday. So I took it in yesterday. Tonight he came home from work and it was blowing hot again. When I called to complain about the repeated issue with their service department their sales manager got profane with me and said I was the only one that had any issue. I went here looking to get a better car with AWD to commute having a truck and commuting in it just wasn't practical. I went in with a few vehicles in mind and they didn't work with the little negative I had to roll over. They made things make sense and got me in to a newer car then I was originally looking at and a much safer car. I walked out with a 2017 Subaru Crosstrek that's fully loaded with all the safety features. I was in and out do the dealership in two and half hours and driving down the road in my new car. Needless to say, I was very unhappy, as they led me to believe this would be taken care of...I called Hyundai Customer Care, and THEY told me it was the dealers responsibility to make this right. Everyone passing the buck. When I took it in for the first oil change at C & S, never did they say that the tires were wearing badly or recommend I rotate the tires, or have it aligned. We don't recommend this dealer, as in our opinion, they needed to make this right, and replace the 2 rear tires... Instead, after I complained, they NOW will pay for an alignment and tire rotation! Not going to put 2 worn tires on the front of my vehicle! Not happy with the service here. They could've DONE THE RIGHT THING and simply replaced the tires. read more

I wanna start off with if I could leave this company 0 stars, I would. Buying a used car from here was one of my biggest mistakes. This car dealership is a scam. They don't care about their customers. I bought a car from here back in February, a Hyundai Elantra. Now I partially blame myself for not looking around more, but I was really wanting an Elantra and this particular car had very low mileage about 57,000. But now I'm starting to wonder if it was just reset. So, not even a month within having the car, my car started making a ticking noise. Not to mention, when you buy a car here they really push you into getting a "warranty" which really isn't one because it covers nothing. That is also a whole different story. When I brought my car here back in April to get diagnosed I had to pay about $200 which I thought they would cover considering I had a warranty, but no. I had to pay that money out of pocket just to find out my horn was going out, I was in need of a new blower motor, and parts of my engine was going out. None of that was going to be covered through the "warranty" I had. So they told me that Hyundai had an extended warranty on their engines apparently, but having my car not even two months I was not expecting to hear that I would need a whole new engine. This pretty much told me all I needed to know. During that visit they told me that multiple cars were in need of new engines and there was already a back order on them. For one I was thinking, why do so many cars need a new engine that is from your dealership? Let me add that he told me 12 cars needed new engines back in April. I was supposed to get my engined changed this month, June, just to find out that that they were on back order again until July. A guy in service named Chad was supposed to call me sometime this month to let me know when I'd be getting it changed, and he never did. I had to call and ended up hearing from someone else that the engines were on back order again. I found that rude and unprofessional that he couldn't call to let me know like he was supposed to. So now, just Friday my car started shaking while I was in park. I called C&S immediately and I said I needed to talk to service and I was directed to chad. I told him how my car started randomly shaking. I looked up myself what that means if your car just starts shaking like that and it said it means your engine is practically going out, so all around just not a good sign. When I explained that to Chad he agreed and said no that's not a good sign. Back in April though, he said my car would be fine to drive and nothing would happen. That was a lie because as soon as I told him this he said they could give my mom a loaner so I could drive her car. All of this is just more stress in my life because they don't care about their customers. Anything could've happened to my car, and they wouldn't have helped me with anything. Another thing on top of that, the loaner car they gave my mom is a 2021 Subaru Outback. That's for one and SUV car and not an economy car like my car is. The car takes way more gas than my car takes. That's also inconsiderate on their part because of course they didn't think about that. Of course though they have no other loaner cars because so many of their customers apparently from their dealership need loaners also because their engines are going out or other problems with their car. The car wasn't even very clean and has a bad smell on the inside. Oh and there's a speaker blown out. I would just really suggest not buying a car here because I feel like I've been scammed and taken advantage of! Recently purchased a vehicle from there used car lot. We did some online research on the vehicle and went for a test drive. The salesman was friendly enough when it came time to negotiate pricing. Unfortunately upper management dragged out the process causing us to be at the dealership for 2.5-3 hours. Coupled with the back and forth process of negotiating and with the wait time it took to talk with there financing department we were frustrated to the point of walking out. So C&S is good at financing especially if you are a first time car buying and have no capital. They will get you the car of your choice but they will also make promises they will not keep. So when they sell you the extended warrenty and tell you they will give you a brochure and/or the facts make sure they follow through on their promise. Also be very careful when signing off on the loan. They are several charges and fees that add up really quick. In my case the loan was almost twice as much as the cars worth. Things to be cautious as you sign the paperwork: Credit Life, Accident and Health Insurance. These fees appear on the disclosure statement when the paperwork is drawn id you don't ask them to be removed. Don't let the dealer coax you into think they are required for the loan because they are not. The only requirement lender can give you is that on full coverage insurance. GAP and Extended Warranties for used cars. These can be helpful and the option to cancel made clear through documentation. FYI the EXtended warranty costs about $9 per mile. GAP is good if you have little to no equity because it covers the difference in market value of the car and the outstanding loan. So if you get into an accident you can pay off the loan or be insured for the value of the loan not the car. When walking into C&S make sure you know what you are doing and come prepared. Don't be oblivious to their cunning. They will make it look like you are getting a good deal when you are not. They will determine your monthly payment and sell you everything before you realize just how much in debt all these charged will lead. Be carefull. Don't be a fool read more

Oh man. Stay clear of these guys. Here's how they operate : the salesman will act like he's on your side by running to the manager to make him your offer, he'll come back with the manager's counter, so on and so on. Ridiculousness since obviously the salesman wants as much from you as possible. This is commonplace in car sales (watch the movie Fargo) but this place seemed even more ridiculous. Anyway aside from that they will sell you complete junk and not bat an eye. Especially used. Wow never buy used from any place with c&s in the name. Stay clear completely, new or used. I bought a used car from them and and the motor blew within 3 weeks. I knew something was wrong when I told them I was going on a long trip with my daughter and they asked if I was going in the car. I told them yes and they never said anything else about it. I had already paid for the car at this point so I couldn't do anything but take it. The paperwork they gave me on the car said it had never been in a flood but the rust on the car proves otherwise. The mechanic that I went to said the rust was so bad that they couldn't even put it up on the hoist to check it out. I will never buy a car from them again. read more

My experience was terrible. Their service department attempted a repair four times and never got it right. After the fourth time i took it two two different mechanics who both agreed that c&s had used parts that didn't belong in my vehicle. (Me extended warranty required i take the vehicle to them for repairs) I told the g.m. my findings and he told me that essentially their mechanics don't make mistakes and that i would have to pay a fifth time if i wanted the repair done again. also, it would cast me $300 for the tow. (This was their super special rate they were cutting me) I went to the big dealership in cf and they towed me for FREE,and did the repair CORRECTLY for half the price. It would have been covered by my extended warranty but it was worth the money to have the repair done correctly and not have to go another three weeks without my car...oh right...did i mention that no matter what the repair, you are looking at about a three week period while they have your car in their "service" department. I now strongly encourage all of my friends and family to go anywhere else. read more
