Oh all the pretty, pretty sweet delicious things. Whenever I'm at the Milwaukee Public Market, I can't help but cruise by C Adams Bakery to do a little confection gazing (and maybe pick up a delectable treat or two). Every treat I've had here has been delightful. Most recently, I came to the Public Market for coffee and picked up a blueberry muffin at C Adams to go with the coffee. The blueberry muffin was exactly perfect (plump fresh blueberries, just the right texture, and a sugared top). Note: In the pie vs. cake debate, my family comes out firmly on the side of pie. We didn't see any pies (plenty of cake though, for you cake lovers!) so we asked if they had any. Turns out? Yes! They routinely carry french silk and key lime (they had me at french silk) and during the holidays carry a more expansive variety (all the holiday favorites, pecan, pumpkin, apple, etc). Their prices are on the upper end of the spectrum ($3 for my blueberry muffin). But, I'm going to go out on a limb and say...worth it. Get to it! read more

Great bakery inside the public market. The cookies n cream cake was delicious with three cookies n cream frosting layers between the cake topped off by an Oreo cookie. The cake was fairly moist, not the most moist cake but if you like cookies n cream anything, you'd like this as well! I've tried the vegan chocolate chip cookie before and that has a good crunch on the outside with a softer inside but really anything looks as good as it probably taste. The banana walnut muffin I had before was also flavorful and made me continue to try new sweets. Lastly, it's average for the price with cookies around $2 and cake slices around $4 but surprisingly no line even though it was Friday afternoon. It was a great surprise to see the cookies n cream cake and I'll make sure to go back there next time I stop into the public market. read more

Cool bakery with a decent selection of cookies, cakes, macaroons, and special seasonal items! I have really enjoyed the cake from C Adams over the years! It's rich, moist, and just right! The cookies are also really good! My favorite is the chocolate chip! All of their cookies are perfectly moist! There's nothing worse than a crumbly cookie. I also really enjoy the seasonal cookies during the holidays. Recently I have been very impressed by the inclusion of vegan cookies! The vegan chocolate chip was DELICIOUS! Overall, I feel like this place is definitely worth a try! At times the public market can feel a little bit touristy but stroll through on a Tuesday afternoon at 1:00 and it starts to feel a little bit more like home. So tempting, so tempting! They have a prime location in The Milwaukee Public Market. So many choices, too many choices? Visited C Adams Bakery on a recent Thursday evening. Was very impressed with the wide array of sweet delicacies. You would think my mate and I could have passed up dessert, since we'd just eaten large seafood dinners. ..but no. So we bought several desserts to share (at least that was the plan ....) Here they are In order of how awesome (#1) to not so great (#5) we found them: #1 Raspberry Chocolate Mousse Cupcake. My mate was ooooing and aaahhhing a lot about it. He consumed it without sharing one morsel. Grrrrr. #2 Magic Bar (7-layer magic bar). It was HUGE and loaded with coconut, chocolate & other good stuff. I think the second 1/2 was actually tastier than the day-of- purchase first 1/2. #5 Snickerdoodle cookie. Yes, I know, I skipped some rankings. But this cookie was just not in the same league as #1 and #2 desserts, unfortunately. It was not even completely eaten. :( Would I return to C Adams Bakery? I walked by here in the market about 3 times trying to tell myself I didn't need it (I've been on a diet). And I couldn't say no!! They have cakes, cookies, doughnuts, muffins, scones, macaroons, cupcakes and more! The cakes are 4 layer cakes and about 5 inches thick! I got a slice of chocolate chip cookie dough and it is out of this world. The cake is chocolatey and moist. And the cookie dough in between the cake layers is perfect! Not too overwhelming, but just enough. I also got a homemade sugar cookie with icing. It's super thick and plump with delicious white icing and sprinkles. It was very fresh and soft. Every time my wife and I go to the Market, we get an awesome C Adams cookie. Sometimes we share one (they're large) and sometimes we get our own. Perfect treat after going to St. Paul Fish, Aladdin, or Margarita Paradise. Our visit to the Milwaukee public market. Included a quick stop at c Adam's bakery and man am I glad we went. We gazed at all the great selections in the case and came up with the chocolate raspberry mousse cake and confetti cake popsicle for the wife. I have only had the cupcakes here but they are sooooo good! I have not had a bad cupcake here. The cupcakes are moist with good flavor topped off with a mountain of frosting. I'm not a cookie person, but I saw that they were having a presidential cookie poll. Since President Obama is leading, I decided to purchase the democrat cookie to show my support. On quite a rainy day, I drove up from O'Hare and directly to Public Market. Adorable place by the way. C Adams had such an incredible variety of pastries and sweets so I really wanted to try a couple. Being a huge donut fan, I picked out the spiced apple cider donut and the salted caramel peanut glazed donut. Unfortunately both were pretty disappointing, mainly because it was very, very oily and I didn't like their cake at all. It wasn't fluffy and light and it seemed like it was caught in between trying to have a chewy/bouncy texture and being a more traditional tough cake. Anyway, definitely wasn't a fan. I also did not taste any of the spiced apple cider flavor in the donut - in fact, I wasn't sure exactly what taste I was getting period. I also grabbed two cake balls. The red velvet was delicious but again, the cake was way too oily. I would say that the pumpkin cake ball was the best thing I had from the bakery. She also gave me two complimentary pumpkin butter cookies which i truly appreciated. However, I just wasn't much of a fan of the butter cookie or the hard glaze on top!! Overall, a bit sad over my purchases. I may never have a chance to come back to Wisconsin again or else I'd like to try a few other items. read more

This review is long overdue as I have been coming to Milwaukee for years and I ALWAYS make a beeline for C. Adams. Their desserts never fail me....well, I take that back. Macarons are my favorite dessert in the world and after dining on plenty while in Paris, I know an incredible macaron when I taste one and while C. Adams does well with their cookies, cheesecakes, cakes, and cupcakes, I was not pleased with their macarons. However, they will still receive a 5 star review from me because everything else I have had there has been fab. I have tried all of their cookies and by far my favorite is the vegan as it is very soft and does not taste vegan at all. The brookie is another that gets a high five. In this day of mass produced factory bakery items, we find here in the market a real "scratch" bakery. And scratch built it is from the unique muffins and original cakes to the cookies that were appealing to the little kid in all of us. We bought a bag full of items to take with us on our family visit, and, this bakery was a big hit with all of our family both young and old. If I drove the two hours to Milwaukee and only made it here, I would be so happy with just that. This bakery has GOT IT GOING ON. My husband and I arrive around 9am to get coffee and scones. Not just scones...the best scones we have ever put in our mouths. A giant, mouth-watering, buttery, and flavorful scone for just $2.75. Although I would happily pay more, I'm super thankful we get that beautiful gem of a baked good at such a decent price. I have tried the blueberry and the cheddar jalapeno flavors, and I'm not sure if there are any other flavors. While the blueberry was excellent, there is just something about the cheddar jalapeno that makes me want to devour up every last crumb. The outside is crunchy and buttery and the inside is baked just to perfection and not a second longer. The flavors are noticeable, yet fairly simple, and they complement each other so well. I will truly plan a trip from Chicago to Milwaukee at any given moment, just to go here for this item. After an entire year of eyeballing their cakes over and over again (sorry, cakes), I finally got a slice. Treat yourself, am I right? We went with the caramel coffee cake. Oh my gosh. Every bite was pure bliss. The cake was so moist. The frosting was just sweet enough and whipped into a smooth and buttery dream. The coffee flavor paired so beautifully with the caramel flavor. I certainly have my eye on a chocolate mousse slice and some carrot cake for future visits! What could be better than a scone for breakfast and a slice of cake for lunch? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. I already inquired about them expanding into Chicago. Unfortunately the answer was no, but that's okay.
