I have to write this review for other brides-to-be. This tailor does not know how to alter a wedding dress. I found him through Yelp and was convinced by the good reviews. He was responsive, punctual, and said everything upfront. He mentioned that he didn't recommend to do bustle to my wedding dress due to the material. When he came to my apartment and i asked him to cut the hem, he mentioned that I would lose the border, which was a nice pattern. Raised questions in my head, but I agreed (big mistake). Fast forward to when I received the dress, the arm sleeves were still too big, cause he did not alter the armpit area. He didn't know how to do it! Geez, it was 10 days before my wedding day! I luckyly found another tailor who is an expert in wedding dress. Ricky however, took responsible of his lousy job and refunded 75% of my money. Which i appreciate. This was my 2nd time using Ricky and I can't say enough good things about him. He is truly a master at his craft! Let me start off by saying I am very picky when it comes to my clothes and the way they look and fit. I had a motorcycle style leather jacket that I needed the sleeves to be shortened by about 2 or so inches. This is the kind of jacket that has zippers that go down the sleeve from the wrist area and I didn't want it shortened from there because the zippers would need to be cut short and doing that would ruin the overall look of the jacket since those zippers would now be much shorter then the others on the rest of the jacket. Not a problem for Ricky! He shortened the sleeves from the seams at shoulder so you can't even tell any work was done at all. I can not stress how hard this is to do let alone being done on leather! In the end not only does the jacket look and fit perfectly, Ricky had the jacket done in exactly 7 days from when he came and took measurements at my house. I keep getting compliments everywhere I go! If i could give more stars, I would. I never realized how important it was to get your clothes tailored. About a month ago I read a fashion article about how important fit was in clothing and about how fit makes all the difference. You can have really cheap clothing, but if it's tailored and fits well, you can still look nice, and if it's really expensive clothing and doesn't fit well, then it could ruin your entire look. So I decided to get my clothes tailored. I've been going to a big retailer that tailors your dress shirts and pants but I wasn't so happy with the fit or the quality that they did it with afterwards. I came on to yelp and that's how I found Ricky. Ricky has great reviews and has been doing this all his life. Compared to what I've been through, this man is a MASTER at his craft! I had about half my wardrobe tailored by him from jeans to dress shirts. Upon examination of my clothes, after I got them back, it looks as if the clothes were taken apart and completely redone, some with even better and stronger stitching than how it was originally produced. The pickup and drop-off are seamless. He comes to your house and has you wear each item to mark what needs to be done to each. He's completely transparent and tells you what can or can't be changed, what you should and shouldn't change, and what you can pass on to save on the cost. His prices are similar compared to the big name store I used to go to as well as the dry cleaning place near me that also did some tailoring for me. Especially when I got my clothes back and saw the quality and workmanship behind what was done, it's very hard to say that he was overpriced when he charges the same amount but does more work and quality work at that. Because of COVID, I've only recently started going out to socialize again and I have not stopped getting compliments on my clothes. The kicker is the fact that it's the same exact clothes I've been wearing pre-covid and people don't even seem to recognize it's the same dress shirt, jeans, or pants! Bottom line: To those that don't normally get their clothes tailored, or if you're on the fence with where to go, Ricky is the man to see. It might seem expensive to some, but it's really the same prices you'll get anywhere else, with MUCH better workmanship. Ricky was great. I went to him (not physically - because he came to me!) to have 3 suits and 5 dress shirts tailored. He is not hard to schedule with, and he had several slots for me to chose from the week I reached out. He always texts you the day before the appointment but as a reminder - and always arrived on time or slightly early. He comes to your home/apartment with all the tools, and you simply put the garments on in your home and he does his thing (he is very very quick too; my first appointment for the 3 suits and 5 shirts took 30 minutes). He also tells you at this point how much it is going to cost, so no surprises when the garments come back tailored. A week or two later the garments were ready, scheduled the appointment, tried them on to confirm the fit, and everything was great besides two shirts that were slightly tight on my very broad shoulders. He took those shirts with him and was back within the week. I had the best fitting clothes for work I've ever had, didn't have to change anything about my routine outside of time to put on the clothes, and it was comparable/cheaper to the tailors with physical locations around me. Scheduled an appointment for the very next morning - he showed up to the apartment on time, took all the measurements within ~15 minutes and dropped off the finished suit later that week. I had one further alteration I wanted to make - he again showed up the very next morning (on a Saturday), made the alteration for no additional charge and delivered it the following week. Back in April, I bought a suit online. A few mistakes were made when I had a very "professional" and expensive tailor measured me so I could place the order. Before the suit arrived, I lost a little weight, around 20 pounds, so all three pieces of the suit needed to be taken in and I knew it was going to be pricey but the price quoted by someone I had worked with in the past was so high($565) I was speechless and just left with my invoice without saying anything. I'm no expert but I felt the price was high and I might be getting taken advantage of because it was for a wedding and everyone understands it's the one time you will spend whatever it takes to make it special. I.E. 10k wedding pictures that would cost 2k if it's labeled as a "birthday party." Anyways, a trusted friend told me I was being taken for a ride and offered me the number to the guy he uses. After doing a little research I discovered the reason why I was told such a high price. The shoulders need to be taken in, and it was a tremendous undertaking, but $565 was still outrageous. I called Ricky and set up an appointment in the city at my friend's place. Ricky showed up on time and got to work immediately!! Within 5 minutes he had the suit pinned up with half the amount of pins as the other guy and it felt more comfortable. Ricky quickly gave me a lesson on why the shoulders were a big deal and why it would extra. HOWEVER, HE TALKED ME OUT OF IT! He talked me out of giving him more money! He felt he could make the suit "98% perfect" without touching the shoulders at all. I trust my friend and he trusts Ricky so I went for it 7 days before my wedding!! Ricky had it back to me within 3 days without touching the shoulders and honestly, I think it's 100% perfect!!! Thank you so much for making it all so easy. Planning a wedding is tough enough without speed bumps. I can't say how much he charged me, but let's say I told him to round it to.the nearest hundred and consider it a tip! Initially, I was put off by the $150 minimum charge, as I was only looking to get my daughter's jeans altered. But Ricky suggested I might have other items that could use some proper tailoring, and sure enough I did. Soon I had 3 items, which did add up to approximately $150, and I am happy to report it's the best $150 I've spent in some time. Also, I thought it might be a little weird having a tailor that we don't know come to our apartment. But it was actually rather luxurious to have such a professional tailor in our humble abode, and it turned out to be a great experience for my daughter as well. Ricky was prompt, professional, and supremely efficient. He knows exactly what he's doing, so we had no problem deferring to his judgement.
