Since I didn't grow up here I didn't have a dentist. I tried 5 different dentist before settling here. Dr Kim. Never makes you do unnecessary procedures. Not only for the cost, but I like my natural teeth I don't want to shave them or pull them for no reason. I had a chip which 5 different dentist said a filling won't last in that area we need to do a veneer. Dr Kim told me this is a very easy filling. 2+ years later my filling is still there. And I come here regularly for check up and cleaning. Also the dental hygienist is one of the best I've had. Usually my gums are bleeding and in pain after a cleaning. Dr. Kim has an extremely steady hand! I have been recommending all my family and friends to go to Dr. Kim. He is a very honest dentist and will not push procedures on you just to make a buck. Let me tell you about this Dentist. He is the best hands down. His name should be seriously Dr. Gentle. I had never had to have teeth work done until just recently. I was so scared, he was so gentle and his technique is amazing. My youngest son saw this and finally had the confidence to have dental work done that we had tried 3x previously but he'd start hyperventilating when they would strap him and give him the gas. Dr. Byoung J. Daniel Kim gave me a huge smile! He replaced three of my old silver fillings with one-hour-ready pure ceramic CEREC crowns and the entire process, including the (no insurance but I did have savings) price was painless! How can I say THAT? I received value for the dollar in so many ways, and it's not often one can say that living in Southern California. His passion for, dedication to and skill in his dentistry showed in his patient concern, personable demeanor and end result: a very happy customer! Dr. Kim was very patient, gentle, kind, empathetic and accommodating. His staff was professional, positive and clearly liked working with him. You even fill out a form letting him know what is most important to you when getting dental work. My first concern was gentleness during the procedure. And he delivered. For example, getting to my needy teeth was tricky for both of us: All were in the back and one was a molar. Dr. Kim inserted anesthesia right near each tooth with a small jack-hammer-like device that delivered fast and numbed quickly--no more long needle jammed painfully into the back of your mouth to numb your face for a half day. He also placed a clear protective plastic/cotton mask over my eyes and nose--dental smells be gone! After old-filling-extraction and tooth prep, he photographed the tooth with a tiny elongated camera. And on the computer screen in front of me, up popped an image of the area to be filled. I watched the full process as the computer went to work analyzing at all angles in 3-D for a precise match, using a single block of ceramic. This onsite milling saved me the extra steps, time and costs of dealing with an offsite manufacturing laboratory, temporary crown and return visits. The CEREC crown, ready in less than an hour, covers my entire tooth, all the way around, down to the gumline. Dr. Kim's skill also showed in his crown-color match to my natural teeth. The crowns look so real, even my housemate can't tell the difference. Like most patients, I was anxious about dental work. Not any more. I now have great faith in Dr. Kim's skills and passion for his work. Each time, I was ready and alert after one visit, no lingering numbness, no thick tongue or puffy cheek, no sensitivity to food or drink temperatures, no after aches. I actually felt great! Prior dental estimates for the same 3 teeth#s and conditions, but with inlays and one lab manufactured noble-metal fused crown, ranged from $1,450 to nearly $8,000. I found Dr. Kim through his display ad in our local Pennysaver. He accepts CareCredit, which is a non-credit-card monthly payment plan, sometimes without interest if you qualify. I also researched non-employer, individual dental plans, but the combined annual monthly premiums and specific discounted treatment price for my specific teeth #s were higher than direct-dental-pay--and did not cover the CEREC technology. I never thought I'd be "singing the praises" of a dentist, but Dr. Kim is really exceptional and I recommend him to everyone who complains about their teeth needing work. So here you have it. Now give it to Dr. Kim! Including in English, Korean and Spanish. Heck, try sign language, too! He and his staff are prepared! He'll give you your best smile. read more

But everyone was very sweet and walked me through everything that was going to happen. They made the process super simple and easy. Came in for an appointment at 2:00 which was confirmed the previous day. Was told to wait when I arrived just past 2:00... 2:02 to be exact. Around 20 minutes later I was told that they were getting ready for me and it shouldn't be much longer. About 10 minutes later I'm finally seated. Assistant puts on my bib and leaves and I waites again anticipating the doctor to come in at any moment. Only he doesn't... At close to 2:50 I am feeling very disrespected and upset at the wait so I went to the front desk to ask what is going on. Receptionist tells me she didn't know I was waiting that long and there were emergency appointments causing the doctors delay. At no point was I told this and given a heads up that there would be a delay. Just kept waiting. They try to speed things up by telling me the assistant can do it at that moment. I have my reservations but at this point it's closing in on an hour since I've arrived so I just go with it. She tries by herself to do the cleaning... Meaning she isn't able to clean and also pump all the fluids out of my mouth. At this point I'm about to just leave when doctor finally walks in and finishes the cleaning. Told them as I finish I don't plan to return and receptionist says they are billing my insurance for services rendered. I'm not scummy enough to get a cleaning and not pay. Ive never felt so disrespected and treated like my time is not important. Ive had waits at dentists offices but they've almost always not very long and if it's running even 10 minutes I'm always told about it. I give 2 stars because the dentist is skilled and does his job well. I also assume he doesn't have too much involvement in how the patients are booked. Clearly out of greed or ignorance they overbooked but they also did a terrible job of keeping me informed of the delay. A few months ago my prior dentist had botched my crown and I ended up needing an emergency root canal. My friends referred me to Dr. Kim which I called and was able to see him that day. He was able to do a root canal right away and I was able to get immediate relief from the pain. He was really gentle and I didn't even feel the needle at all. The root canal procedure was not scary or painful and I was out the door in an hour. Dr. Kim is very professional, kind and gentle with your teeth. Dr. Kim is so kind and you can tell he knows what he's doing. Even though it's a decent ways from LA (where I go to school), it's always worth the drive. Fillings are super fast and he will take the time to polish down and add as needed so that you feel as comfortable as possible. My mom has dental problems and has been several times for root canals (making the trip down from the SF Bay Area to LA just for this).
