I was not at all happy with Dr. Clem. I was told he was the best in the business. I now know that, that is not true. I was not happy with his implant work and when I tried to discuss with him the reasons why, he could have cared less. His "chair side manor" is awful. He is arrogant and cold. He makes you feel like he is too busy for your concerns. I should have listened to my gut after the first consultation when his assistants (who were all very nice) gave me much more information than he. I was on vacation recently and one of my teeth broke off at the gumline. I knew it had to be extracted and I wanted a replacement in the form of an implant. I had lost the tooth behind it last year due to another fracture. I had serious issues and needed help. I consulted with Dr. Clem and he performed a 3D scan of my jaw. After analyzing, he felt that not only could he extract the broken tooth, but he would be able to get another implant into the space left last year. We scheduled the surgery and it was performed this last Friday. It could not have gone better! He did quite a bit of work that day involving everything from extraction to bone graft to implant placement (different areas, mind you.) When I awoke from the sedation I couldn't have been more comfortable. What I thought was a hopeless situation has turned into future teeth. On another note, I doubt if you'll ever see a more high-tech office in your life. It is a beautiful facility with all the latest equipment. It's pretty obvious from the minute you walk in the door, this is as good as it gets! Add to that the fact that he's pretty famous in the dental world. I've been having trouble with my two front teeth for years. A childhood full of sugar cane and occasional sweets without brushing every time, led to a lifetime of cavities, fillings, and crowns. I've been back and forth to the dentist because the crowns I had would fall out whenever I ate something hard, or the cement had worn down. In the past, I had an infection in the gums above my two front teeth and another periodontist who fixed it and did a great job. However, when I asked the other periodontist if he could do frontal teeth implants, he said it took a specialist to do them, because of the location and difficulty of getting them just right. Well, happy to say my general dentist referred me to Dr.Clem who she said is the best. I was not disappointed. For he is even more than what she deems him to be. I love Dr. Clem. His manner in dealing with his patients is impeccable and he is very easy to talk to. He is genuine and you feel as if you are the most important person in the room. Dr. Clem was able to do my extractions, implants, and bone grafts all at the same time. I was put to sleep and did not have to remember anything about the procedure which was my preference. For me that's priceless. No fear. Just reassurance that all would be well. Brandi was my nurse at the bedside and she made me feel comfortable and took all my worries away. Dr. Clem not only has my highest praise and respect, but also his staff speak very highly of him and his work ethic. He really is the best in his field and knows exactly what he is doing. Complaints have been filed with the California Attorney Generals Office and the California Board of Dentistry. I am sad to say tonight I am writing to you (The Attorney Generals Office) with no front tooth. If you think it is easy going through life with no front tooth you don't understand...but...I paid $6,725.00 to have an implant from Dr. Clem. Now I am going to spend another $4,500.00 just to look like a normal person. I have written him...spoken with him on the phone and he is not interested in working with me. My new periodontist Anne Nicholson offered him an opportunity to view the CT Scan I had done at Eisenhower Medical Center and he declined too look at it. This CT Scan showed the implant was not placed properly. There is currently no lawsuit but I would hope the doctor wants to make this right. Now I am asking for the $6,725.00 I have paid out of pocket along with the $4,500.00 to have a qualified prosthodontist build a bridge that will make me appear normal. The total would be $11,225.00. If all fails I will go before a judge he will have an expensive attorney and I will have no front tooth. read more

Dr. Clem is as good as anyone I have worked with in any profession. He is not only very talented, he also has excellent skills working directly with the patient, discussing options and concerns. I required a particularly difficult bone graft. He discussed the procedure with me and referenced other doctors before recommending procedures. He talked to me after hours, took scans and detailed the various options and possible problems with any given procedure. He made it possible for me to have the surgery within days on a (generally) non-scheduled work day. I am another person that does not post reviews on line. I felt compelled to recommend Dr. Clem. He works in a profession where failures can and will happen (through no fault of the professional) and it is very early in the recovery stage for me, where it may be weeks to months before I know how well the surgical procedure has gone. I will say that from start to finish, his office, his staff, and his work have been overall 10s for everything that has been handled so far. I could not imagine being so lucky as to find Dr. Clem. I happened to be referred to his practice. If you need an implant or a bone graft, I would highly recommend that you have a consultation with Dr. Clem. i have had a lot of cosmetic dental work done over the years, and have been chasing the "perfect smile" for a long long time. I was sent to Dr. Clem by my dentist, ( Kenneth Hinds DDS in Laguna Niguel) My experience was beyond anything I could ever have hoped for! Back in November, I had an infection that destroyed a portion of my jaw bone. I had gone to a periodontist prior to seeing Dr. Clem who had only removed a portion of the infection and had wanted to do a gingival graft because she said there was not enough bone to do a bone graft and it would not be successful. The infection had been where my lower front teeth were and since people see those teeth when I talk, I wanted a second opinion. I was referred to Dr. Clem by multiple people and am so very grateful I sought out his services! Dr. Clem was so kind and professional and though the conditions for a bone graft surgery were not ideal, he was hopeful, which made me hopeful. He performed a bone graft surgery and was able to remove the rest of the infection. He had told me that it went well and six months later, I was able to move forward with treatment and had implants placed. Both surgeries have been successful and there was no need to panic or fear because I knew I was in good hands. Dr. Clem and his staff at Regenerative Solutions are amazing! The friendliness and professionalism that Dr. Clem exudes can also be found through the warm smiles and friendly conversations with his staff. I rarely post reviews because I'm admittedly very difficult to please and am rarely satisfied with the professional services I receive. And I don't want to criticize a professional simply because he or she doesn't satisfy my artificially high standards. However, that said, when it comes to Dr. Clem, the usual rules fly out the window. In short, I have no doubt whatsoever that Dr, Clem is THE best dentist on the face of this earth in every aspect of his profession. Dr. Clem has been my periodontist for more than 10 years, and I couldn't think of a single negative about him, personally or professionally, if I was promised a winning Power Ball ticket for doing so. His professionalism, skills, and obvious concern for the comfort and well being of his patients are beyond impeccable. If it were possible to create a human being with every single quality you would like your dentist to have, you would be looking at Don Clem. He patiently answers all of my questions, no matter how mundane or repetitive they might be, and he is always available after hours if a dental emergency should arise. The Bottom line: If I lived in Europe, Asia, Africa, or Australia, I would fly back to Southern California whenever a dental issue arose. If Yelp gave the option of awarding as many as100 stars to a professional, a hundred still wouldn't be sufficient to describe my opinion of Dr. Clem. read more

After reading one of the negative reviews, I felt compelled to write a review. I have been a patient of Dr. Clem's for over 15 years, and have referred many friends and family members to him. He has always been quite simply..."the best!" He has the best chair side manner ever, and has always been very caring and extremely patient with me. (Especially considering the fact that I have insisted on being awake, with a local only, for all of my implant procedures, which I know takes him more time.) I am a "very nervous" patient, and he has always taken the time to make sure I feel both cared for and comfortable, during my procedures and my appointments. Now that's not to say, he always has the time to chat casually during appointments, there are times that he is very busy, as most professionals are, and he is in and out quickly. However, this helps contribute to the fact that he is very respectful of his patient's time, he does not over book, and is almost always right on time for your appointments with him! His office is also "the best!" His office is high end, state of the art, very clean, and he has friendly and personable staff as well. He has also always squeezed me in for emergency appointments whenever I have had a tooth break. In addition, they have a payment plan for their patients convenience. I have had a total of nine implants, and bone grafts, done with Dr. Clem. (He jokes that I have frequent flyer miles with him.) All of my implants are in perfect condition, and I have never had a problem with any of them. My friends and family have all been very happy with Dr. Clem's work as well. When I noticed my gums receding, I came to Dr. Clem. He explained everything he was going to do right away, making me feel comfortable with the gum graft procedure. The surgery was quick and painless. Dr. Clem and his assistant Evelyn took great care of me. Post-surgery I did not take any of the prescribed pain medication because I did not have an ounce of pain or discomfort. I have used Dr. Clem's services for three of us in my family. The first was my young daughter who needed surgery (frenectomy) to get ready for braces. Apparently, her procedure was to be rough since she needed a lot of work done to her. However, she ended up doing great. The staff allowed me to stay and comfort her until she was medicated and sleeping and they ran me back in so she would see me when she awoke. The next time was for me. My orthodontist wanted his opinion to make sure that my gums would withstand braces as an adult. My gums are receded compared to other people's "normal". However, Dr. Clem didn't feel like that was necessary to use his services pre-braces. He did discuss options for later IF I wanted to change my gum line for teeth safety. It wasn't a hard sale. Recently, my 11 year-old needed his services. Admittedly, during the consultation, he explained in a calming voice EVERYTHING that was going to be done. I wish he had just done the procedure right then so she wouldn't have to stew about it for several days before her surgery date. The day of the procedure, she was crying and scared. Some of the patients came and spoke with her as well as the staff. The procedure was quick. Dr. Clem called the following morning to check on her. Several days later, I needed to remind this daughter that she had surgery and to calm down. She had NO clue what I was even talking about. If we ever need mouth corrections done, I would definitely call Dr. Clem. read more

I was referred to Dr. Clem by my dentist for some oral surgery (i.e., a bone graph)...not something I was looking forward to. In fact, I was very anxious about having it done. However, Dr Clem turned what I anticipated to be a very unpleasant situation into one that was very comfortable and easy to deal with. It all started with his office staff who are very friendly, attentive, and caring. Dr. Clem's 'bedside manner' was also very thoughful and caring. He answered all my questions in terms that I could understand. The anxiety I felt was simpy the anticipation of the procedure thinking it was going to be very uncomfortable with a painful recovery. Neither of which was accurate. The procedure was over before I knew it and the recovery was much easier and less painful that I thought. I received a couple follow-up calls from his office checking up with me on how my recovery was going and if I had any more questions. That gave a feeling that they really cared, Over all, a very good experience. I will go back ( hopefully not soon!) should a simlar situation arise. On two different years, Dr. Clem installed two tooth implants. Both went very well, I hardly had any pain, they healed quickly and the bone has grown around the implant perfectly. It has been two years now and they are both working perfectly. He was easy to work with and his office staff are very friendly. Another thing I really appreciate is that they are always running very close to the appointment times. Due to gum disease, I have been getting my teeth cleaned there twice a year and the gum problem has completely been eliminated. I recommend him very highly. I have seen Dr. Clem for two surgeries, an implant last year and a gum graft for root coverage which was done more recently. He came very highly recommended, so I did not hesitate to travel to California for my surgeries. The office is tranquil and relaxing, and the staff professional from beginning to end. They made sure I had all the information and medications needed before I arrived for surgery, and were always available to answer any questions. When I arrived for both surgeries, the process was very smooth and I felt like I was in very capable hands from beginning to end.
