I thank God for Dr. Choi's help. I went to Dr. Choi seeking emergency treatment for 2 failed bone grafts, maybe 3, as I was in an unbearable state of pain & discomfort. After going to 2 maxillofacial dr.s who, basically, ignored my pain but one took $8,000 for torai removal, I was desperate. My prior periodontist also did not want to act, too busy, no empathy. First I would like to compliment the staff and assistants to Dr Choi. Next, the Office administrator (Diane) was wonderful. Finally, as much as I sometimes found Dr Choi accessible, I didn't find him emotionally available when I would need more answers to my questions answered. He wanted to talk about how much he knew instead of trying to appreciate my anxiety. I drove an hour for his practice and I don't think he ever comprehended that it was a minimum of two hours just to come and go. He once told me that I'd have to come back for a simple measurement for my "guides" due to the office lunch hour. Another time, I patiently waited an hour in the patient's chair to be told a mysterious story? I never like to write this type of review, however, when you're having this extensive surgery/restorative work projected to be done over a year, pick someone that you have a really excellent repoire. read more

I suppose Dr. Choi is as good a dentist as you get for gum disease, but he took me to the bank and over charged me a lot. It's not good when a dentist gives you an estimate for gum surgery and then after the surgery charges you thousands of dollars more than the quote you agreed on. read more

Dr. Choi seems like a good dentist until you need a procedure. Their cleaning felt like a jackhammer in my mouth. My gums still hurt and it has been many months since I have had it done. Then he told me I had gum disease. I went to see an amazing periodontal specialist. He told me I have a problem on one tooth and not to worry I take good care of my teeth. He questioned Dr. Choi and asked me why he would put me through so much pain if I didn't need it? Anyways. I am so thankful I found my new periodontist. Dr. Choi is an incredibly talented oral surgeon. He's almost done reconstructing my entire mouth with gum surgeries and I couldn't be more impressed. Mine was a very severe case (very bad recession despite being only 29 and never even having a cavity in my life, thanks for the genes mom and dad) and he tackled it when no other periodontists I visited would even attempt traditional gum grafting. He takes his job incredibly seriously and wants the absolute best outcomes for his patients. Plus, the entire staff is very kind and helpful! In my lifetime, I've had six oral surgeries. Despite this, I am the biggest chicken when it comes to any type of procedure. I had my graft done by Dr. Choi last November and wow, that man is a genius. His staff is great too, by the way (made me feel less nervous about everything). In any event, the technique Dr. Choi used left me without pain, at all - even after the numbing went away. I was amazed. I've left my gum disease untreated for years and feared walking into an office only to hear devastating news. The experience I've had with this office definitely leaves me in tears, but happy tears. Dr. Choi is such a fantastic periodontist. He is so kind, caring, and gentle with his evaluations. He takes on a new approach for me that no other periodontist has ever tried. When I first met him, he stated that he wanted to learn the biology of my mouth and how it responded in time with treatment and better care, before jumping into surgery. What a wonderful way for him to care for his patients. His approach makes so much sense and resulted in a dramatic improvement of my condition.
