I've refrained from opening a Yelp account for awhile, but this Summerlicious experience made me sign up, because this needs to be shared.
The food was good, but no wow factor(except maybe from the baked Alaska).
Out of the Summerlicious lunch menu, I would recommend the Chilled Vichyssoiuse, Korean Style Pork and the Baked Alaska.
There were 4 of us, so we ordered everything on the Summerlicious menu except for the stew appetizer and shared(so we could try a bit of everything).
When ordering the Beet with lemon-ricotta salad app, the waitress told us the kitchen changed it to Strawberries instead of Beets, we were fine with that so ordered it anyways.
When the appetizer came, it was beets XD maybe a miscommunication between the kitchen with the waiters...
Before the apps came, the bus boy came and said 'have you guys been breaded yet?' we were startled and confused by what he meant and he said again 'have you guys got bread yet?', way too much attitude, it was if he had better things to do.
When giving us bread he basically chucked it onto our plate, and he scratched his head (right on top of the open bread tray!!!) before using tongs to get us the bread.
Butter was not automatically given, we had to flag down a waitress to ask for some. The busboy was nowhere to be seen throughout this whole process...
I don't think the busboy really enjoys his job. Definitely not the kind of service I expected at this restaurant.
The chilled Vichyssoiuse was pretty good, nice presentation where they put the soup bowl with the bacon and fried onion in front of you, the pour in the soup. The lardons(bacon) was the highlight of the dish. Roasted Beet salad was okay, I just wanted to finish it all so I could go to the next thing.
For the mains, the Korean Pork was the best(while it was thick, the meat wasn't dry or raw, and was very tender), second was seabream and the most disappointing was the lamb. The goat cheese mousse on top of the Tagiatele was a bit too strong for our taste.
For dessert, the tiramisu had no coffee flavour, the best part was the chocolate crunch bits on top.
The crust of the Salted Chocolate Caramel Tart was too thick, making it hard to cut through with the fork. The Peanut butter mousse on top of the tart was good though, reminded me of a Reese Cup.
Baked Alaska was the best dessert of the three. The Lemon berry ice was good, and the mango sauce around it was delicious.
Overall I would go back for a summerlicious deal because the food was not bad and the waitress was very pleasant and friendly.
The only issues were the busboy's attitude and that we had to constantly ask for more hot water...
We voiced our concerns with the waitress when paying the bill, hope they will improve on the minor details the next time we visit as it is not a bad restaurant. read more
