I am obsessed with BYKlyn and go 1-2/week. I was never one for spinning (hurt my nether regions, couldnt keep up, felt like I was going to die) and then lo and behold it was because I wasn't going to the right studio! The instructors are wonderful and the music usually does not disappoint. You don't do any weird crunches or sit ups on the bike which I appreciate since I always thought that was silly at other studios. I find myself EXCITED to work out on Saturday and Sunday mornings. I LOVE BYKLYN! Not only is it right in my neighborhood, but the classes and staff are amazing! Everyone greets you with a smile and they keep smiling even as you drip buckets of sweat throughout the workout! I started with the newbie special (2 rides for $20) and then I got HOOKED! I have not ridden with all of the instructors but I have done rides with and loved Jo, Sara and Svetlana! They are motivating and make riding 15+ miles in 45 minutes seem like something you were born to do! I would recommend BYKLYN to all my friends and have even brought a few of them there! I have no idea why I have waited so long to write a review for BYKLYN..its been a long time coming. Probably because I have been too busy spinning my butt off for the last how ever many months they have been open. The BYK BOX, as they call it, is like my personal sanctuary. When I go in I'm away from everything else in life, stress, work ect... it's where I can just crank out an amazing workout, know I am burning a ton of calories and have a blast doing it. Everyone at BYKLYN is genuinely so nice and wants to make sure you are enjoying your experience with them. BYKLYN's owner Amy gets down and dirty with her staff helping newbies make sure their bikes are fit correctly or to see if anyone needs help with clipping shoes or hydrating with water. The staff knows my name there, instructors are like my friends there, they want to know your life and help you feel the best living it. You don't see this kind of customer service anywhere people! HUGE shout outs to DANIELLE and KAT!! These ladies know how to run a class and get it done! Its always a challenge and its always fun. The music is great, especially the booty songs, because ladies.. the booty has never looked so good thanks to the butt busting hills, speed workouts, 1-2's and spin drills. You're always so motivating to go hard and give more to maximize my ride. I think it's pretty clear I heart BYKLYN and they deserve 5 stars. read more

The instructors provided me with clear instruction and make sure that you can hold your own in class. I never felt intimidated taking a class and each instructor has their own unique flavor that makes it fun. I started visiting this studio as a ClassPass member before finally buying classes directly. The staff at BYKlyn is super friendly and helpful, whether checking me in or adjusting bikes, etc. I was almost exclusively going to Chi's classes because I love her playlists and energy, but I've been pleasantly surprised by the quality of other instructors too once I decided to branch out. I moved to NYC recently and I struggled to find a replacement for my workout studios until I found BYKlyn! I usually go to the mid morning classes because I work from home and they are typically less crowded, and you see the same people making it feel like a community. Newbie here, First time taking any cycling class. Love the the welcoming atmosphere. The non-judge mental personal of everyone that works there and even the regular people that come in to work out. The owner was great in helping myself and my friend get set up and how everything runs. Her and I didn't know we took the advance class, but we was able to work out the whole hour and not give up. Quick note: They just upgraded their sound system, and it's light-years beyond their prior system! My ride with Kat on the snow-day during the closure of NYC on 1/27/2014 immediately prompted an earning of 5 stars. What other spin studios can you go to where you feel like family? I'm not talking "Hi, Matt! Great to see you again." Rather, I'm talking, "Matt, Sabrina! How's the wedding planning going?" They go above-and-beyond, and you can better believe I'll be referring people here. (Although selfishly I want to keep this place a secret, because it is so amazing, however, they've definitely earned the referrals). What an awesome no-frills spin studio. I absolutely love the request ride with Kat on Sundays, and the new 8pm class with Taruk. In my experience, Kat is all about sprints, and Taruk takes you on some seriously challenging hills. Both instructors have an amazing energy, they're both beasts on the bike, and they provide awesome coaching. Amy is such a great spirit, and I love when she greats everyone before class. She's got a great thing going on with Byklyn. I can't wait to see what this place becomes as they grow and expand their schedule. Their $1,000 for 50 classes is an incredible value and is stacked with perks and VIP-level treatment. Definitely getting that for the fiancé. I just absolutely love BYKlyn. I've taken several of the different classes they offer and each instructor is absolutely amazing, providing their own unique flavor to each class. I look forward to looking at the schedule the day before to plan which class I am going to go to. I always walk out of BYKlyn feeling like a million bucks and more confident to take on life off of the bike. At the beginning after not having worked out for a good 3 years due to some of life's major curveballs thrown at me, I finally was able to sign up for ClassPass. I loved BYKlyn so much that I immediately wanted to go more than 3 times a month (as restricted by ClassPass) and signed up for BYKlyn's 10 class/month deal @ only $18 a class including the shoes. THIS IS A STEAL. BYKlyn is a really friendly and comfortable environment. Its great for beginners, as I was when I started, with BYKlyn knowing me on the first name basis and the instructors being really helpful in setting up my bike. Now that I'm a little more intermediate, I continue to be challenged in each class. They really care about their rides, with a weekly 'special' ride that may focus on a certain type of music or some other cool theme, as well as other various promotions and cycling-related activities going on. Finally, it makes my heart melt when I walk into BYKlyn and am greeted by the sweetest dog ever, Penny. However, if you are not a dog person have no fear! You will barely know she is there. I started taking classes here because I am recovering from a back injury and I was looking for something low-impact that gave me the same high and cardio workout that running does- the machines at the gym just weren't cutting it. I'm not really a fitness class person and prefer solo workouts where I'm not really aware of other people, so I was shocked to find myself signing up for the unlimited monthly classes after a week! The workout kicks my butt every time, and riding to the rhythm of great music makes the class fly by. I'm partial to Eric's and Kim's classes but you have to try a few different instructors to find the vibe you're into. If you're a complete newbie like I was (am?), the staff and instructors will take the time to make sure you're comfortable with the bike, and the overall vibe of the studio is really unpretentious and nonjudgmental. Also, they keep the studio quite dark, so it really feels like it's just you and the bike even when the class is full. Highly recommend. read more

Great teachers and classes. Thank you for the good times. I even recommended this place to my friends. I was a loyal rider until I had to move in March. I gave 30 days advanced notice (as their cancellation policy requests) to cancel my membership after February and was very clear that I had to move away from New York. I was still charged in March and contacted Byklyn to please fix their error. After 3-4 calls over a span of a month, and being assured that they had "made a note" to refund me, I finally contacted my bank to dispute their charge. Not cool. read more

Kickass class! I took Kat's BYK + Tone class and loved it! Kat's upbeat energy and support was just what I needed to get me through that class (especially in this weather). Everyone in the studio was super friendly. They asked if I had done spin before. I said it had been a while, and so they walked me through getting on the bike and feeling comfortable. I've taken classes with many of their instructors and they are always super positive and motivating. The atmosphere of the studio is non-judgmental and welcoming. Just started spinning here after not taking a spin class in 5+ years. I'm a little older than most spinners and felt at home immediately. The staff at the front desk are lovely and accommodating, the facility is bare bones but clean and well organized. I took my first class on a whim and signed up for 5 more classes immediately. I'm not what you would consider athletic. I struggle staying engaged at the gym and have found the most success taking classes. However, I've done gym memberships that promise great classes (even spin) and still found myself thinking "meh." I googled spin classes in BK and found this great spot and have been hooked ever since. The instructors are great, supportive and help you push yourself while still listening to your body. The classes are creatively themed and timely and the equipment is always clean and functioning. Especially compared to the other places, you won't find a better bang for your buck than this place. Would absolutely recommend for anyone who struggles to go to the gym. read more

I have been going to BYKlyn for about a year now and I love it. If I'm in town I always go to Eric's Sunday morning 60-minute class for his great music, humor and energy. I have done plenty of cycling classes and never found someone who uses the musical beat so well to push you to your max. He mimics a motor sound to follow as well as waving his arms - both of which work much better for me than following an RPM on a machine - and his musical playlist is the best! read more

I've been taking classes at BYKlyn on and off since 2016, and I always really enjoy it. It's a relaxed atmosphere and the instructors are great. I like the fact that there's no choreography or anything like that - it's about being on the bike, and getting a great workout. The classes are as challenging as you make them, and I always feel pushed to go further. Something that's important to me - BYKlyn hosts free charity rides every week or so, where they collect donations for a variety of organizations. Not only are these classes accessible, they demonstrate that BYKlyn makes The Bigger Picture a priority. I appreciate that this studio cares about being part of the community and contributing to greater causes. It's expensive, but no more so than other studios in the area. They also periodically have great deals on packages, and it's worth signing up for their newsletter and keeping an eye out. read more

This place rules! I've been trying to find somewhere to incorporate some cardio into my life and found that at BYKlyn and so much more! The workouts are amazing - every teacher brings their own vibe so I love the variety. (Kat is my personal fave!) They're high energy, fun, great music and an awesome sweat session. I've been seeing results fast! What I love most is the community feeling. Every instructor, student or staff member I encounter has been friendly, encouraging and helpful. Everyone is there to support each other and have fun. It's true that it's no frills, but there are fresh towels, the bikes are always clean and there are two bathrooms that are always spotless, which is all you need and the affordable price makes it worth the little extra sweat on the train ride home. This is a small, locally owned spin studio on Flatbush. The classes are consistently a great workout, and it is much more affordable than the big spin studios like Soul Cycle down the road. I appreciate that it is always an athletic workout and a no push up zone (no silly push ups or clapping while riding). They also have a great newbie special if you've never been! read more

This place is great! The staff are so understanding and very kind. I would recommend this place to anyone. The music is good, the instructors are very motivating, but also allow you to go your own pace if you need it which is nice some places tend to be too aggressive and intimidating. This place is not. They also have a dog whose there often and I love that. The only thing I would say is I've experienced a couple times that the machines weren't working and I've had to switch. They fix them pretty quickly though so that's good. Also wish that there was a 5:30a class and/or a 8:30p class. read more

Still only 3 stars....or more like 2.5. The good: they have reinstated some of their non-monthly pricing packages, and now offer some competitive 3 and 6 month packages. Plus some good options on a couple of weeknight classes. So that is fair (but please bring back the 12 month plan!) The not so good: I wish their bikes had some kind of monitors so I knew what gear I was in! Some of their instructors talk A LOT and it is hard to know what I'm supposed to be doing. (E.g., Sarah talks so much I can't follow her). Half the time I just make up my own routine, which I guess is fine but kind of defeats the point of taking a class and having an instructor!! It would be so helpful to have better equipment so the instructor could simply say...now we are at level 2 (or whatever). They are nice there but the constant jabbering by some instructors really interferes with getting in the groove of biking to the music. But I know, I know. ....upgraded bikes would cost money! ******* UPDATE: If all instructors were like Jo, I'd be thrilled with this place! She knows how to balance instruction with silence and also knows how to guide riders so they know what level they should be at during the ride. Awesome instructor! read more

I've been spinning for years. Tried it all: SoulCycle, Flywheel, Crunch Gym. But I've never felt at "home" until I took a class at BYKlyn. It's the least judgmental place to workout and the teachers are real humans. In other words, they're not yelling at you over too-loud music. That's not to say you won't get a hard workout in--you will sweat! But you control your resistance and speed. It's not forced on you. As long as I live in Brooklyn I'll ride at BYKlyn. read more

So happy I tried BYKLYN- I came in for their deals and am coming back because of the friendly atmosphere and great instructors! I really like the focus on form and the feedback from the bike monitors- makes for a more productive work out where you can have targeted goals instead of just hoping you're doing it right. Personally I don't miss the locker rooms and think changing your shoes in the lobby and then heading straight to the bike makes for a simpler and less time consuming experience. I have tried classes from Monday to Saturday. No matter which class I have taken I have not been disappointed. My favorite classes are the 6:30 classes. They allow me to get an early workout and still make it to work on time. Tiffany's 6:30 class with house music really wakes me up and gets me going. read more

BYKlyn is the best spinning studio I have ever been to! It's the perfect combination of low-key environment with high intensity workout. The prices are much more reasonable than the Soul Cycle and Flywheel alternatives, and I think it's a better workout. I love how the classes that use weights only use them off of the bike, and there is no crazy choreography. The instructors are really friendly and helpful.
