This is as good as it gets folks. There is none better. I try to take my time selecting restaurants because, sometimes when I do it right, I make wonderful discoveries. This place has everything the best restaurants have at a fraction of the price. A great waiter, fabulous made to order food, beautiful lighting and decorations and soft romantic background music. The waiter was perfectly unobtrusive. I can't have a romantic meal with my sweetheart when a waiter hovers and frequently interrupts our moment by trying to impress attention on us with flair and fake friendly conversation. And rushing away each plate to "get this out of your way" is another interruption I detest in fancy places rushing us along. It is possible to attend quietly. Subdued and attentive is just right and and this place gets it. I had to try the lamb because lamb is so hard to cook. Bam! 5 stars. They use cardamom instead of sugar in their Turkish coffee. Bam!!!! Man was that fabulous. The way they use their spices in the dishes is just delightful. Nothing overwhelming and everything succulent. Everything made in house by artists. The soft Lebanese background music was a very romantic way to complete this experience. It was really nice to sit for a spell and become human again after a long week. I can't wait to taste more of your great cooking. read more

This is one of my favorite spots in Baltimore, and is my favorite in Fed Hill. It's a small, affordable place with delicious homemade food. I'd say its biggest strength (besides the food) is the service. The owners are truly delightful people and make an effort to get to know you. If you are new to the area and want to see two friendly faces, this is the spot to go! I would highly recommend stopping by and checking it out if you get the chance. If you are a larger group, the space is small so make sure you enjoy your company as it may get a little tight. Recommendation: Chicken shawarma with a side of hummus is my go-to lunch, yum :) read more

I was in Baltimore for a few days and was in the mood for food. I mean, who isn't right? So I checked out Yelp and looked for something in the area to try out that wasn't fast food or a chain. Byblos popped up and it had great reviews. And it had vegan items! But alas, once again, Yelp has let me down. Well, not Yelp but Yelpers who reviewed this place. Maybe it's because of the lack of choices but I found the food to be just ok. Don't get me wrong, the owners of the place were awesome. I enjoyed chatting with them and they were quite lovely but I kind of wished the food was at the same standard of excellence. (Hence 3 stars instead of 2) When you first walk in, it's a cozy little spot. The tables, chairs and decor reflected the Middle Eastern heritage of the owners and it was a very nice touch. I went in for an early dinner and it was empty other than two other couples dining there. I had two items, I don't even remember because they were quite forgettable. (I believe it was a falafal and hommus - that's how they spelled it.) They were just ok. The main dish was bland but full of textures. The hommus also lacked flavor even though I asked for the spicier version of the two they offered. I really wished the food was better because everything else was great but considering it's a restaurant, I don't think I can justify ever going back for the atmosphere and service. Kinda hurts me a little to write this review. Parking: Limited paid street parking Price: $12 per person Wait: 10 mins after ordering read more

Great food, and very cute restaurant. The tables were made of wood and really contributed to the atmosphere of the restaurant. It seems like a family owned place, as I saw a boy helping make the coffee (which btw was really good), and some other kids in the back. Owners were really nice and friendly. I asked if there was rice that came with the lamb plate, and he ended up just giving me complimentary rice. My girlfriend got a pita bread sandwich, which was closed on one end, good for not having ingredients fall out. The sandwich was crunchy and pretty good. My lamb plate was delicious as well. The place is $10-15 dollar range for an entree. Oh yea, the place is also BYOB. I guess all the locals knew this, as I noticed every group came in with their own bottle of wine or beer. One group even came in with a handle of whiskey! If I lived in the area I'd definitely be here eating all the time. Great food at a decent price, and you can bring your own alcohol too. Everything was full of flavor, authentic and delicious! Ordered hummus, baba ganough, tabouleh, grape leaves. My roommates said the chicken and beef kebabs were amazing and Absolutely recommend. Them. The service is fantastic! Best Mediterranean place in Fed Hill for sure. Stay away from the veggie kebbeh though, I'm vegetarian and I didn't like them, I ate 1 and was like "Gew" read more

Came here with a large group celebrating a pair of friend's going away. (Well not celebrating, we'd love them to stay, but happy for them.) The place is tiny and its a BYOB. Modest in decor but fun. I think our waiter was the owner. The entire staff consisted of three people, all very friendly. In a nutshell, certain things were very good and others not. I had never had Lebanese food before and played it safe with the chicken swarma. My wife got the beef swarma. We found neither to be all that enjoyable, my chicken being dry and not altogether hot. The hummus on the other hand was some of the best I have ever had, as was the tambouli. And there was plenty of warm pita bread. I see this place as more of a lunch than dinner restaurant, given the limited menu and especially given that one pays at the counter. I would return for lunch but perhaps not for dinner. read more

Delicious Food - Friendly service - Excellent prices! And BYOB. Perfect spot. Been here for lunch and dinner. I've never been disappointed. read more

Byblos has amazing Mediterranean food and is reasonably priced. I love the chicken shawarma. The owners are so friendly and welcoming. This place makes for a great date night at a reasonable price. read more

I came here several weeks ago after seeking a quick bite to eat. I ordered the Chicken Schwarma platter and it was delicious. The chicken (especially white meat, which can be dry) was tender and the hummus tasted fresh. I was very impressed with the food here, and I am very glad the reviews I read truly represent this place in terms of their food, service and ambiance (unlike a few other restaurants i've gone to because of their high ratings on yelp). I'd like to come here some more, but finding a place to park in Federal Hills makes it difficult. I came here at 9pm on a week night and I found a spot on the side street - I'm not even sure if I was allowed to park there. read more

The best Lebanese food in town! I'm a foodie and always love to try every corner of new restaurants. I'm hooked on this place and always bring all my out of town friends to try the Byblos. The owner Sam & Hala are the best, they always greet us like there's no tomorrow :) Babbaghannouj, Mouhamara, Snoubra are out of this world. Salmon with walnut is good too, and everything I tried. Bird nest dessert is yummy and so other desserts. Not too sweet. BYOB with no corking fee is a big plus! Great food & service! read more

Great food, great price, music and decor! The Lebanese coffee was divine, flavored w/cardamom. We tried baked kebbeh, zakar, and lamb tawook. Lamb was tender and flavorful. Pita was warm and fresh. Try this for exceptional food and atmosphere. Nice folks, good service 5 stars on everything! read more

Small cozy BYOB restaurant tucked away in fed hill. I came here with a group of friends on a Friday night and overall it did not disappoint! Overall, it's well decorated and perfect for a low-key, casual dinner with a group of friends. We tried the beef schwarma platter, lamb tawook, and mousaka combo. It's served with pita bread, hummus, and salad, which all tasted fresh. The meat portion is quite generous, and well-grilled. Overall their food is quite tasty and it's a great place fr Lebanese food. read more

I was so excited to find this place in Baltimore! I grew up eating this food -- kibbeh, meat pies, stuffed eggplants, shawerma, ma'amoul cookies... they have it all! The decor inside the restaurant is also really beautiful and cozy. I just had one of their shawerma sandwiches, which was absolutely delicious! If you get shawerma make sure to eat it quickly so that the bread stays crispy. I can't wait to go back and taste the rest of their menu! read more

Byblos - Tabouli salad, Kibbeh (Middle Eastern style meatloaf made from cracked wheat and meat), stuffed eggplant, and ma'amoul cookies - Mediterranean Near Me - Baltimore, Maryland

Delicious food and gorgeous environment. Had the Kebbeh Combo--dry and savory, just like it was described. Came with a lot of pita, and the hummus was a great recipe. Had the lebanese coffee after and I'm glad I did. It was rich and flavorful. The place itself is gorgeous: there are nick-nacks on various levels to create a nice storefront display, as well as some about the dining area. There are lovely vases on the tables, and the tables themselves---wow! I forgot the technique, but it looks like a tree sliced open with the bark captured on the outsides. There's also gorgeous artwork on the walls: oils, with the artist's handwriting making up the landscapes. On top of that, the woman who served us was very informative and friendly. A real treat! read more

Really good Mediterranean food. Wish they had a lamb shawarma option but the beef was great. The combo platter came with hummus and a really great sauce over the meat. Definitely recommend coming here if you live in federal hill read more

Small place, Good food! One of those places you want to eat at just to support the friendly employees and chef! Went with a group and tried the Lebanese Coffee, Shawarma(s), Falaffel Wrap and a few appetizers. The decor and environment was nice, really clean place. The food was all very good (everything), but nothing really blew us away. The service was probably the best part, it seems like a small family place and everyone was incredible nice, the cook even came out at one point to thanks everyone for coming. I will definitely go back and try some other things on the menu, and I'd definitely recommend trying it out, but I think the prices are a little inflated due to it's location (in the heart of Fed Hill). The combo platters which were in the 11-15$ dollar range tasted more like 8-10$ meals. I found their hummus to be a little less than thrilling. read more

Super disappointed last time we went here. Personally, I don't care for the pita. What was most disappointing though was the falafel which was extremely dry. I really want to like this place, and they do have some good things , but falafel was edible. read more

This is a great place to grab some Mediterranean food. Lots of vegetarian friendly options and the owners are so kind.

Giving this place the benefit of the doubt of 3 stars because I know nothing about this kinda food. The meat in the shawarma was sweet- like a cinnamon/ minty sweet. Zero savor or spice involved, so the opposite of what I expected. Hummus pretty bland too. The pita isn't soft like other Mediterranean places but maybe because it was more authentic? I wanted more like halal cart spicy gyro meat in a pita. This was kinda like sweet cinnamony corned beef inside a very thin almost carboardy pita pocket that was kinda like a 'low carb sandwich thin'. Seemed high quality, but a very acquired taste. read more

Terrible flavor, essentially inedible. Some of the worst Mediterranean I've had. Very very very very bad. We threw the food away

One of the best options for vegetarian and vegan food. The stuffed grape leaves are perfectly seasoned and firm. The vegetable kibbeh is rich and fragrant. I also had the Lebanese coffee which I highly recommend. It has an earthiness to it. This is a great place to sit outside and watch people. The interior is a little tight (I would leave the stroller at home) but very warm and comforting. read more

This place is great. My husband and I went for dinner. We brought our own wine because the place is BYOB. I really appreciate the option to bring our own drinks. It is comfortable inside and the lighting is great. The food was amazing!! I am surprised to see so many reviews saying the food is bland. It most certainly is not bland. I would describe it as truly home-cooked Lebanese food. It seems very authentic and you can tell that the owners/chefs know what they are doing. The food is well-prepared without needing the typical restaurant greasy decadence. You can taste all the flavors, eat everything on the plate, and leave feeling great! We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back. read more

can't say enough about this place. Best service in the area with a very home-cooked taste to boot. There are so many great things on the menu. Just ask the owners and they will suggest something for you. Oh and you can't beat their prices. read more

We had high expectations for this place given the amazing reviews but really we have experienced better. We got seated right away and it was quite crowded. Nothing on the menu looked too exciting but we got my son a chicken shwarma platter, I got a falafel sandwich and my husband ordered a Mixed Lamb & Chicken Tawook, Lahmehbahjeen & Kebbeh, They didn't have the kebbeh. A minute later the server came back to say they didn't have they didn't have any lamb and it was 6:30PM on a Saturday night, so not late at all. He ordered the Beef Shwarma platter but when the food came, he actually got the Mixed Lamb & Chicken Tawook. The chicken shwarma platter was ok, the falafel sandwich was awful (no flavor at all) and the lamb was the best part of the night. We were almost done with dinner and we still didn't have our appetizer, Lahmehbahjeen. So we asked about it and they said they were out of Lahmehbahjeen. The server/owner insisted we get Zaatar and that it was a pie. Instead, it was pita topped with Zaatar - definitely not a pie. At time of dessert, seemed like they only had Mamooul date, no pistachio or walnut. The whole experience was bizarre. Why were they out of so many things? The service left much to be desired as well. Its a nice family run place but they need to get these kinks out. read more

There is no better authentic Mediterranean food in Baltimore than this sweet little cafe nestled in the heart of Federal Hill. I came here randomly on a Wednesday and have returned three times since. The interior is delightfully reminiscent of a cozy Tuscan getaway. The owner and staff are incredibly friendly and genuinely happy to be serving you their homemade recipes including delicious lamb kebobs, tabbouleh, and Shawarma. The Maza Platter is plenty of food to split between two people. While the grape leaves are divine, it is the eggplant Babbaghannouj that really gets your palate tingling with happiness. The serving sizes of all the dishes are perfect to share making this spot a unique dining experience. Ordering a Turkish coffee at the end of your meal is a must. If you skip out on this part of the meal you are missing the grand finale. The owner makes the coffee himself and adds just the right amount of cardamon to this great caffeine kick. This is definitely a great place to show that special someone a different side of your personality. Bon Voyage! read more

This cozy restaurant welcomed all 12 of our group of out-of-towners for dinner without showing any hesitation. We were able to pick up beer from a nearby store to drink with our meal, which was a pleasant surprise: I don't know if this is usually allowed, but most restaurants I have been to frown upon that sort of thing. The food was well prepared and fit our needs perfectly: we hadn't eaten many vegetables at our conference and we yearned for healthy local food. I would eat here anytime that I come back to Baltimore. Thank you so much! read more

Amazing, delicious food! The best baba ganoush I've ever eaten. I had the eggplant and ground beef combination. It was delicious as well. Parking is difficult in this area, but you might get lucky with a street spot. The owner was the sweetest lady and made me feel at home. I would be back and recommend to a friend! read more

I've had limited experience with selections, but IMO, the baba ganoush (generous portion) and chicken shawarma wrap are very tasty. Management / staff has been very kind and hospitable. As I waited for take-out, I asked for a half teaspoon taste of baba ganoush. Most places would have brought out a plastic spoon; instead, I got a small saucer of BBG, and a whole pita! I was so impressed, I'll continue to recommend, and patronize! Thank you Byblos! read more

I've only had the turkish coffee, but i can tell this place is the bomb.

Very good food. Best lamb shawarma I've had since the places in London. The owners very nice. Messed up my order but gave us free Turkish coffee to apologize even against our reluctance (they just gave us someone else's before, not a big deal). They close Sundays so left overs are thrown out; as a result, they don't make as much Saturday (ran out of baklava). All-in-all, excellent food though. read more

I came here with coworkers and the food is decent. Small in portion size, but good. The hummus and chicken shwarma wrap are great for lunch.

A family run Lebanese restaurant. The owners are warm and kind. The restaurant is cozy and, in a neighborhood that is filled with loud restaurants, it is a perfect spot for a conversation with a friend over apricot tea (they serve a variety of fruit and herbal teas) or Lebanese coffee. A good place for vegans and vegetarians. read more

Best Lebanese food I have ever had - Kebbeh was incredible. I brought takeout to my work and everyone was happy. The owner could not be more friendly and the coffee ($1.25) is life changing. I will eat here as much as possible, it is undermarketed and deserves to be packed. The should offer late-night shwarma and they would see a windfall. Went here and to be frank it really wasn't good. It's nice they have Lebanese in Federal Hill, which could use a little more variety, but everything we had was well below average, and we were ordering very typical Lebanese/Meditteranean dishes. Left most of it sitting on the plate. We found that for pretty much everything you could do much better even at Lebanese Taverna in Harbor East and far and away better at Baba's in Locust Point. Baba's would be my recommendation. read more

the moujaddara (lentils & rice w/ sauteed onions) is ridiculously good. My friends and I came here on a Friday night so it was difficult to find parking but it was definitely worth. The space is cozy, with an array of paintings. I haven't had Lebanese food too often, but this is by far the best. I ordered the Maza combo, which gives you a diverse offering of hummus, stuffed grape leaves, tabbouleh, babaghannouj, and mouhaynara. Normally I'm not fond of stuffed grape leaves but the ones here were great! The Maza platter offers a great introduction to a variety of Lebanese food for a good price. We also ordered the shiekh el-mehsheh (stuffed eggplant) combo. I've never had it before but I liked it here. It was a subtle taste but paired nicely with the hummus in the platter. I would definitely come here again! read more
