Lorenzo and the other 2 guys that helped him were on time, and started right away. There was no wasting time. They busted their tail the whole time with no wasted time. I think it's the first time in about 15 moves I have had to make that nothing was scratched, damaged or broken. Not to mention the quote I got was dead on to what I had to pay. First time ever with a moving company. They were extremely professional and when done I felt I had experienced the most stress free move of my life all due to Lorenzo and his crew. I really can't express how impressed I was with the experience and would highly recommend using them for their next move. If I could give them a 100 out of 10 I would. Thank You Lorenzo and crew for making the move a tremendous success!!! Tom Chicoine

AND they moved a fireproof safe by hand, with sheet strength and a good knowledge of physics. The cherry on top is the value - super-fair, plus a discount for booking through Yelp. The movers who came to do the move were excellent. Polite, professional and positive. They are true ambassadors of excellence. They moved quickly, efficiently and carefully all at once. Unfortunately, they do NOT get a bonus each time we give a good review. That was a LIE and what I was told which is what sold me on the entire EXPENSIVE move. The ONLY reason why I didn't choose a less EXPENSIVE moving company or just snag some TaskRabbit movers was BECAUSE I was told I did NOT have to tip BECAUSE the drivers earn a bonus ON MY GREAT REVIEW. So when the movers came I had bought them some bottles of water each and had a $20 bill for each for an extra lunch tip. I had NO IDEA they worked for tips until later. I was SO ASHAMED that NONE of the $990 cost for 4 mile move was NOT being shared directly with them. I thought the bonus was the sign of a great company caring for their people. It was a blatant lie. At this point they have cheated my pocketbook or the movers with this deception. How many times have these excellent workers not been given better tips because we were told we didn't have to?! I am still outraged over this weeks later. Update: I have JUST gone through the reviews! I really wish I'd seen them BEFORE I scheduled the move! I was checking out Google reviews .. which turned out to be on THEIR website.

BEWARE - BAIT-AND-SWITCH PRICING!…read more I rarely leave negative reviews, but my recent experience with this company deserves one. I chose Firehouse Movers because of their glowing Google reviews, and their initial estimate was very competitive. Unfortunately, the final bill was a complete shock. To begin with, they insisted on a virtual estimate and refused to come out in person and assess the job. This was a 5000 sq ft home full of furniture, and I wanted the most accurate estimate possible. I asked multiple times for an in-person estimate, but my requests were declined. By moving day, I had sold two-bedroom sets and several other large pieces of furniture that were included in the original estimate. Even with significantly fewer items to move, the final price was more than double the original estimate. On the day of the move, I somehow went from needing two trucks, as stated in the estimate, to four. And from 9 to 17 total man hours. At the end of a long day, my husband just wanted them gone, so he reluctantly paid the bill before they could log anymore hours. When I called to discuss the bill, Firehouse claimed I had verbally approved the additional associated costs over the phone, citing a recording, which was completely false. I have asked multiple times for this recording, but I have not received it. That was not a small miscalculation. Our move was grossly underestimated. This whole experience felt misleading and dishonest. Stay away.

The guy that was supposed to come called towards the end of our 2 hour window and told me to record and submit a video which he promised to get me an accurate quote from. I initially requested a quote to pack, move and unpack. The quote was too high ($6k-$8k). I then requested what it would be to just pack and move ($4k-$5.5k). I accepted that lower quote, which the guy on the phone said was "conservative" and that he would rather over quote and finish lower than the reverse, which turned out to be a complete SCAM. The pack and move job ended up being at the upper end of the quote to pack, move and unpack (we ended around $7.9k BEFORE tip) and the crew only partially packed and partially moved what the were supposed to with my friends and family working harder than anyone on there team and WITHOUT the unpacking service. (2) The crew was super slow and inefficient. I had multiple friends having to help throughout the entire move-- moving at a much faster pace than your crew. The hired crew from College Hunks wasted time and supplies, equaling a waste of my money, by bubble wrapping nearly everything including multiple plastic items. They also unwrapped an item I deliberately wrapped myself to use a blanket to wrap items that were not even breakable. The item I wrapped had about 30 designed bags in it which have not had the time to take inventory of since the move. (3) The I told 2 members of the crew, including the team lead, Willie, that I needed the air fryer moved. $600 Air fryer was left behind. (4) Washer and dryer were included in the quote. On move day Willie said usually they are not allowed to reconnect items attached to water lines but like in the army "don't ask don't tell" and that he would "take care of us if we took care of them." My boyfriend tipped Willie $1000 the first day and $2000 the second day to distribute to the crew (hope the rest of the guys got their money but doubt it). I think Willie was well taken care of but he did not even bring the washer and dryer to the new place. (5) When they arrived at the new place they were irritated that there was another move going on. I immediately contacted management and asked them to hold the elevator for my move and reroute the other movers to another elevator, which they did immediately. My boyfriend was still running boxes and items up and down 3 flights of stairs to compensate for their inefficiency. (6) I complained about my experience when I got a call from the company on moving day. The guy I spoke to on the phone said was apologetic, said he would speak to his manager to get me a return of some of my funds but I had to pay the full amount to get the crew out of my house. I called back twice to follow up and nothing. Very disappointing experience at a very stressful time. DO NOT RECOMMEND!

On the day of my move, I had everything packed and boxed up securely, had tape and plastic covers available for my mattress and 6 month old sofa, and my move was less than 2 miles away. It was a ground floor single family home to a ground floor apartment. I asked several times for the movers to remove the backrests off the sofa (it's one that has electronic controls to raise or lower the headrest, backrest and footrest). They refused, stating "We got this.". At the new place, they unloaded my items and I saw how they struggled to get the sofa in through the door. After it was placed, I saw several rips and tears in the fabric on the corners and pointed it out. The moving guy acknowledge the damage and took photos. When it came time to pay, to my shock I was charged over $1,100, plus money for them using their tape and materials. The rep on the phone removed $15 but insisted I pay the rest. I asked the moving guy if this happened a lot and he admitted it happened ALL THE TIME. Bait and switch. Over the next 48 hours I found extensive damage to my items, including a shattered computer monitor, shattered printer glass, additional tears in my sofa due to negligence, dings in my sofa side tables, broken glasswear and art. All I can think is that they were dropping boxes off the back of the truck to go faster. I filed a claim, but was told that all I would get is a refund for $159 which is .60 per lb of moved weight. That didn't even cover my printer, and they would do nothing about the fact I was quoted one price and charged double. I made complaints with the corporate office but was told all they could do is forward my complaint to the Operations Manager of the franchise. 10 days later I finally received a call from him (Devonte Smith), and he admitted his rep had misquoted me and took responsibility and agreed to refund an additional $250 within 3 - 5 days. I wasn't happy but agreed to this. As of today, 6 weeks later, I have not received that additional refund. Multiple emails to both the accounting manager and Operations Manager have resulted in no response, completely ignoring me. Phone calls are impossible because the voicemail isn't set up. I have contacted the corporate office multiple times only to be told they can't do anything. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, the Attorney General of Texas and now leaving this review so that no one has to go through this. There are better and more responsible movers out there that have integrity and customer service, and this company has absolutely none. Please beware of them at all costs.

It was advertised as "Life Is a Highway", but by the end, I was left asking "What Hurts the Most?" and the answer was paying for wasted time, missed commitments, and an incomplete job. Friday: The crew arrived with no packing materials at all, not even tape, despite the order clearly being for a pack-and-move. They spent roughly four hours driving around trying to find supplies, time I was still charged for. Calls to two different managers went unanswered or returned. The agreed schedule was pack and load Friday, deliver Saturday. Instead, packing happened Friday, loading Saturday, and delivery was pushed to Sunday, giving next to no time for unpacking before Monday morning. Both my home and a storage unit were listed on the quote and discussed in advance. On Saturday, I was told they could not get everything from both locations, leaving items behind. I now have to rent my own truck and finish the move myself. To be fair, the movers themselves were young, friendly, and clearly trying their best. However, they were not trained to pack or properly protect items. It was obvious they were sent to move furniture and boxes, not perform a full pack-and-move. This is a management and planning failure, not a crew or attitude issue. This move involved poor preparation, missed commitments, wasted paid time, and an incomplete job. For a company marketing itself as a premium service, this experience was anything but. The price paid was well over the value of the service rendered.
