3 stars?! Ok I get it, parking may be scarce, busy staff, buzzing with tourists (hah get it) - but we experienced none of those! Idk, maybe because it was cold and raining outside and we had no wait. The food was freaking delicious! I finally came here for lunch and it it was like nothing I expected. I love the vibe of this place! Not too many places like it on Oahu. Such a cozy down home feeling, small yes, but so charming! Maybe it was all the fresh pine wreaths and garlands wafting the smell of Christmas in the air, or the fact that all the staff were dressed in jolly red shirts and Christmas hats lol. Any-who, onto the food! Calamari steak: hands down best calamari EVER. If you can only order one thing here order this. Next time I will order my own and devour it with no shame. Even my dad who hates calamari couldn't stop eating it, it's the sauce yo! And the calamari is so soft and yummy. I also got the mozzarella salad, which wasn't in the menu but I asked and they had. My main entree was the ahi wrap - cooked medium whith fries. They make it perfect! The tortilla is super SOFT and the ahi was cooked well, it melted in my mouth. The wasabi mayo was just the right touch. They have really good seasoned fries too! Super crispy and tasty. I can't believe it took me so long to eat here! My boyfriend and I have dined here a couple of times. This location is convenient if you have been at the beach or exploring the area. We sat outside both times and enjoyed the weather. The first time, our waitress was a bit brash and rude when my boyfriend noted his steak was cooked incorrect. They brought it out a second time and it was still incorrect but at this point he was too hungry to send it back again. The second time we both got what we ordered and it was very flavorful and good. Why the hype? My clam chowder tasted like it came out of a can of Cambells. Mai Tai way to strong to enjoy, it was gross. Service was good. We only had appetizers, artichoke, escargot, a small salad. Buzz's is kind of a legend in our family, so we may just be biased. But it is a totally cool and unique dining experience. It's true that the parking can be scarce, but generally you can find one if you're patient. So Buzz's is a really cool spot right on the water. It's dark inside but not in a bad way. It's one of those places where you're sure you're walking into a place that has not changed in about 12 million years. And that's a good thing. Cocktails are great. The calamari steak is a must get... it's like a steak made out of calamari (duh) topped with capers and a lemon butter sauce thing. Yummy if you like calamari. Other than that you can't really go wrong. The salad bar is awesome - way better than your average salad bar. Take your time getting through the line and make sure you evaluate all your options. There is also a little two-top out on the patio where President Obama sits when he's in town and hits Buzz's. There's a little plaque marking the spot if you look closely. :-) read more

My first time here. Right across from the beach. I love decor inside. The calamari steak appetizer was fantastic and so was the artichoke. All entrees come with salad so the meals are healthy unless you order a side. The prime rib was good. They slice it before it comes to the table so you don't get to see what it looks like. Preferably to make a reservation or be ready to wait a minimum of 30 minutes. Service is great. Honestly I think their food is overpriced. Love this place. My girlfriend and I live in Kailua and come over other week or so. We went in last night for dinner and drinks. Even the pupu menu has a lot of food options. You get a lot of steak for the price. I typically get the NY Strip. The only unpleasant part of our experience last night was a rude guest at the entrance who caused a scene because he had no proof of vaccination and his "at home test" wasn't acceptable. He was rude and calling out the manager for doing her job. He was full of small PP energy. Let everyone know that he was a "flight attendant" as if that somehow made him the authority figure on covid tests? If anything it just means he's exposed even more often than an average person AND he's flying around unvaxxed. Yikes bro. His girlfriend looked pretty scared when he told her to wait in the car. He probably took it out on her later- her body language indicated she was used to this kind of weird little man syndrome rage he was displaying. ANYWAYS- just want to throw that out there because I'm sure little man will be leaving a review since he called in immediately after leaving to spin the situation. See yah chump. We love Buzz's! Came here with my uncle who was visiting. I made a reservation 4 days in advance since it is a small restaurant. They were ready for us when we got there and got seated on that lanai right away. I had a Mai tai to drink and they are always good here. My uncle got the coconut mojito and later a glass of red wine. I got the artichoke surprise which is my favorite. I also got a baked potato. My uncle got one of the specials which was the scallops. He said were ok but not great and he wished he had gotten a steak instead. We both got dessert. He got a coconut lime ice cream pie that was good. I'm gluten free and wanted the flourless tort which I ordered and then was told they were out so I got the chocolate macadamia but gelato which was really good but very rich. Beautiful view of Kailua beach. There is some road construction so when your sitting outside you hear every car drive over the metal plank at the bridge which ruins the ambiance a bit but not the restaurants fault. read more

We moved to Kailua about two months ago. This has been consistently our favorite place since then. The employees are amazing and so is the food. The manager is amazing and goes above an beyond for all of the guests. We witnessed a disgruntled guest with an at home covid test try to enter and she handled it with grace. Major props to her. Host with a buzz cut and pearls was quick to point out a member of our family wasn't dressed appropriately ( we'd come from a fabulous day at the beach and he had a tank top on) by simply pointing at the sign indicating we should leave. Luckily , a female server observed the situation and quickly came over saying they had sleeved shirts available to use. Someone should bring him up to speed on accommodating the customer. Our waiter Shiloh did a nice job explaining the specials and taking drink orders. First course salads and bread took awhile to make it to our table. Dinner was delicious. By the time our server came back around we were finished , plates cleared and ready to go , missing the opportunity to offer dessert. Now before you skip this know that the main part that everyone wants to know is if the food was good. And the answer is YES! It was absolutely delicious !! BUT the price is a bit much & the service for us was not great!! We tried the jack Daniels burger, six oz steak, fruit salad, and another salad. (There was four of us ) Each of us loved our food! As a local, I've been here a few times, but it seemed to have changed over the years. Ohana and aloha is existent but only if you are caucasian. Locals and persons of color: kindness will not kill them, you don't have to believe me, just look into their eyes as they stare down at you, or search by "lowest rate". My one star is for food only. We got in the habit of making this a go to whenever people were in town, they have a calamari steak that they had always prepared for us "non breaded " due to dietary restrictions.....so here we were with friends visiting and said, let's take them there! Except this time we were told they would not prepare it "non breaded " for us. When we told them they have always done it this way because we can't have the breaded style, they kitchen manager (I believe his name was Rex) said nope! Needless to say I was so absolutely disgusted with the lack of customer service, that we paid for our one drink and took our guests to Nico's! We will not be back! Always love the food an Buzz's, but the past couple times haven't had the best service. The chicken Caesar sandwich and ahi wrap with tomato basil was delicious, and not too heavy. Perfect for lunch. Even the bread pudding was on point, topped with ice cream and a cinnamon drizzle. The beachy atmosphere was pleasant, and even had water misting to keep it cool on a hot day. This would easily be a 4-5 stars review, had the waitress filled our water glasses at least once. We were all sitting with empty glasses toward the end of the meal. One of our dishes came out with the wrong side, which wasn't a big deal as they fixed it promptly. But what was really annoying was the server swooped my plate from under me before I was even done eating. There was at least 7 fries left on the plate!! Not that I was counting... Overall a decent dining experience, just hope to see more attentive service in the future. read more

I came here twice during my trip to Oahu. Both times were for appetizers only because you need to reservations for dinner since restaurant gets really busy during dinner hour. I loved all the appetizers here- we tried the artichoke special, the calamari steak, shrimp cocktail, and the spring rolls. My favorite was probably the artichoke and the calamari. I have never been a fan of artichoke before, but Buzz's made me love it! Buzz's is known for their Mai Tai's and they are really strong- you have been warned! I also tried the Coconut Mojito which was an icy cocktail which is perfect for a hot, humid day in Hawaii any day of the week. Buzz's is located right across the street from the Kailua Beach so it is a perfect place to go to relax after a day at the beach. There is pretty much no parking in front of the restaurant, so you have to park at the beach and walk over. A great to spot to eat, get buzzed, and enjoy the view of the beach! read more

After a beach day, we headed here for some food. No happy hour here and only pupus on the patio. No problem as my kiddos weren't too hungry. After being seated, we were promptly met by our server. It's been a while but I recall their pupu menu having more options in the past? Moving on, I tried my best to order the most kid friendly pupus on the menu. Top sirloin pupu platter: well done and came with a lot of veggies. My nephew didn't care for the steak as it was dry. I tired to have them take it back but they wouldn't as we ordered it well done. Steak was small for 6 oz but veggies were plentiful. Teriyaki meat sticks: delicious ! My son and nephew enjoyed this dish Crab and shrimp cocktail: delicious .. just wish we could have found the crab in here ? Spring rolls: okay, menu said with beef.. didn't know it would be ground beef . Not tasty at all and poor representation of a spring roll. Steak cut fries: small amount of fries for the price. Driving by in our way to the beach, buzz's caught our attention. We decided let's grab a quick lunch before we hit the beach... horrible idea! They told us just a minute for seating, waited about 10 mins to be seated. Not to bad! Server comes over takes our order... 45 mins goes by still no food. The waitress comes over and asks if we would like some bread since it's taking so long. She assures it will be out soon, another 30 mins goes by. We are now the only table in the place. Except a group of servers sitting down next to us eating their meals. Yet we still haven't received our food. About 10 mins later she delivers our food. They forgot the onions on my salad in which I asked for. She said I'll be right back with the onions. Never returned to the table again!!! We arrived at 1:45 and left at 4pm. It took 2 hours and 15 minutes to have lunch at this place. The food was decent and wasn't to expensive. However the service is absolutely horrific. Never again! read more

The stars are mainly for location and ambiance. Service, also great. The food was really just okay. Cocktails: classic pina coladas, very well executed, no complaint Mains: the sirloin was tough and not cut well (it was a corner cut, which probably made it tougher, could not cut it in any direction to make it better) but it was cooked appropriately for the temperature I had asked for. The side Brussels sprouts were overly garlicky as was the Cesar salad - pure raw garlic taste. The chicken teriyaki was okay, but again, nothing special. My baked potato was great, but I would expect that to be impossible to mess up anywhere. Desserts: forgettable, not bad. So even though it was a lovely experience, because of location and staff, company, and the perfect weather sitting outside, it was not really a place worth the wait if you are going just for the food. read more

Resting on their laurels. Locals just stay away....save room for the tourists. It just seems that every time we go there with our small Service Dog, we get the biggest stink eye from the School Vice Principal...oops, I mean restaurant manager. They throw us a million rules of do's and don'ts and it just takes the fun out of the visit. We live a few blocks up the street from the place and we would like to give the place a try because the food is actually very good when we catch the wait staff on a good day. But they are so hell bent on tourist business and the old "eat it and beat it" mentality. They might as well hang a Cheesecake Factory sign on the door, then I would know what to expect in moving you in and moving you out with a smile on their face and that fat tip that they are expecting when you leave. And when I say fat tip, we had a waitress chase us down in the parking lot one time accusing us of not tipping enough and when we counted the money IN CASH and found out that she had a 25% tip, it was an embarrassing moment. This is not an exaggeration. Anyway, rude on the phone for reservations, stink eye when walking up to the front door from the manager and hey Bobby Lou....work in a few fans in the waiting area. This is Hawaii for goodness sake. A little hot and humid while waiting for our table......Eh...forget it...we gave up and went to Mid Pac for a decent meal. read more

Went here for the first time with a couple of my friends and co-workers for lunch after we hiked nearby Lanikai Pillboxes Trail, and the service and food certainly did not disappoint. The space is rather tight and it can get very busy at times, plus on-site parking is extremely limited. You'd most likely have to park across the street or at Kailua Beach Park's lot. I had their Garden Burger and the portions were great overall. Prices are pretty decent as well. Definitely a gem worth trying in Kailua's Lanikai neighborhood! read more
