Buzz's Caesar Salad (their version) w DOS
    Michelle L.

I was back at Buzz's for an impromptu lunch and ordered their version of a Caesar but with added chicken. I just wanted to note, for anyone who cares about such things, that the chicken they used is thigh meat. I am not necessarily a fan of non-white meat on salads. And I never even think to ask. The meat was freshly cooked though, and was certainly acceptable. The salad itself (Romain lettuce) was also fresh and delicious and not from a bag. So high marks for that. I had dressing on the side. It was also tasty and garlicky. I just thought I would point out that if you're expecting white meat (anywhere in Hawaii) you might want to ask first.

We loved Buzz's on our trip to Hawaii!! The calamari steak is hands down our favorite bite of the trip! I am just dreaming I can find something similar back at home. Our service was amazing, I wish I could remember her name but she was dealing with a very difficult table and maintained the upmost positive attitude and helpfulness the entire meal! We sat outside both times and it was perfect! Food 10/10! Service 10/10! It's a must try restaurant!

My family has been coming here for years. Something I recently noticed for the first time, was a photo hanging at the bar of someone posing with to a dead Mano (Tiger Shark). Not cool. Please take this photo down! It's disrespectful. In Hawaiian culture, Manō are revered as 'aumākua (ancestral guardians/protectors).

Enjoyed a low-key business dinner here with friends. Not a fancy place but has a great vibe and great food! Located directly across from Kailua Beach Park, you can't go wrong and have a beautiful landscape to walk off dinner after. Their steamed artichoke appetizer was amazing! Service was excellent too with multiple servers regularly checking up on us.

My uncle found this cute spot while we were sightseeing the island. The cutest and cutest little restaurant. We stopped by for lunch and I feel like we got there just on time because shortly after they got really busy! I ordered a lychee martini that was a tad strong but still tasty. I also ordered the kai fruit salad with chicken which was perfectly refreshing. There is patio seating but we sat inside in what felt like a private nunk of the restaurant. Our service was super nice and tentative. We had a greatly experience overall.

Love this kitschy place with personality and lovely, friendly service! I finally got to go here for dinner with some friends last night as I've been hearing about it for quite some time. They have a variety of cuts of beef, pork, chicken, plus a couple fish choices that can be cooked any way you like - Chinese steamed, blackened, fried, etc. Since it's a steakhouse, I wanted the Top Sirloin of course (6 oz was just right for me - tasty and cooked to perfection!) with Spinach Salad (love this refreshing salad with bacon bits and egg), plus a side order of garlic mashed potatoes (fluffy and ono!) - perfect meal and completely happy and satisfied! My friends ordered dessert: Key Lime pie, lava cake and haupia ice cream - I got tastes of each - all were yummy!! I'm a fan and hope to be back really soon! Happy Holidays, everyone!

Family lunch with cousins. The ambience is one of "fine beach dining". Nautical decor. Has a local lore of the "best steak house in town". I ordered an Arnold Palmer that was very good along with the fresh fish Burrito. The party shared the steamed artichoke. It was served with course sea salt sprinkles and a mayonnaise based dip sauce. In my opinion the artichoke was under cooked as the petals were difficult to detach from the heart. The device was very attentive as the staff checked multiple times on drink refills and other requests. The fish burrito was wonderful with mostly fish filling and nicely omitted the typical beans and rice fillers.

Buzz's is a nice place to visit to get lunch in Kailua! It's right next to the beach so you don't have to walk very far if you're at the beach! They have delicious cocktails and a very chill vibe! We really enjoyed everything that we ordered! I got the chicken teriyaki which was flavorful and came with deliciously crunchy fries! Our table split a salad which we ordered with chicken, and it was very refreshing and tasty!! We also ordered their baby top sirloin which was perfectly cooked and a fantastic steak option! you can't go wrong with anything here! our server was very friendly and recommended that I try their Kailua Passion cocktail which was a rum and lilikoi flavored drink (passion fruit) it was very good and refreshing!!

I had to come for the Calamari steak and Artichoke and I was more than impressed! Food, Mai Tai and the service might have been even better than the food!

We really enjoyed our visit to Buzz's, a nice afternoon spot for a couple of beers and some appetizers. The poke was absolutely delicious and the calamari steak was out of this world! We were treated wonderfully by the hostess and the bartender and couldn't have asked for a better afternoon! Would definitely go back!

What a lovely, breezy, dining experience right across the street from Kailua beach. Sit outside if you can . The food was beautifully plated and delicious. Portion sizes are good for the prices as well. Staff is friendly and efficient. Food took a little while to come out but everything tasted like it was from scratch so it was worth it.

Tried to call to make a reservation the number isn't working could there number have changed?

    Power was out today!

Do they have a salad bar for lunch and dinner?

No salad bar that I have ever seen. Just salads in the menu.

Is it less crowded on weekday tha weekend?

They take reservations. I would suggest reservations any time you'll like to go. Seems consistently busy.

Is it still open for lunch?

It was when we ate there on vacation in February. My suggestion would be to call them on the phone old skool and ask.

How busy is it on a week night? Are reservations recommended?

Yes it's busy what ever time you go, definitely recommend reservations.

    What is there dress code?

    Island casual

Do they open on Thanksgiving day?

No, closed Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

Do they have a salad bar like the one they had in Pearl City?

Yes, they do it's really good!

Do they have any vegan options on their dinner menu?

You could probably have a green salad, would not expect vegan here. They are such a small operation that's very well attended and probably don't feel the need to venture too far beyond steak.

There were a few steps to the door of the restaurant but as we exit the waitress let my mom through the back which had no stairs but a ramp leading to the side parking along the restaurant right side, since she was using a walker. I first came with my friend for dinner and I came with my mom for brunch after her dentist appointment, because I wanted to show her what became of the beloved Four Star Chop Suey decades ago. Brunch menu was not the usual breakfast items that we were used to, but I ordered what I thought she would like best. We had Breakfast Hash with potatoes, sausage, cheese, eggs, bell peppers but the sauce was a little spicy for mom. There were ingredients in the sauce which maybe was too much for mom. Citrus mint fruit salad, and Southern Chicken Biscuit and Gravy. The gravy was different.fitness good but, I preferred the dinner selection when I came with a friend who traveled all the way from Kapolei for some shared dishes and appetizers. Not too many of my townie friends had made it to this side but it's a nice place to dine at to experience their food and beautiful ambiance! There were a few side parking stalls along the right wall of the restaurant, otherwise you would need to find street parking. There's a nearby 24 hour municipal parking lot and it's still a quarter of 20 minutes. This restaurant is not in the main Kailua town area. If you haven't been to Kailua, Kailua is a nice town to try all these different restaurants. You be surprised and pleased. They are closed on Monday & Tuesday. Brunch is on weekends from 9 am to 1 pm. Otherwise they open from Wednesday thru Sunday from 4pm to closing at 9pm and on Friday & Saturday nights they are opened til 11pm.

Multiple screens make it so there is not a bad seat in the house. We also hoped to find a place with more of a "neighborhood/locals" energy to chill and relax our tired dogs (feet) in...and also, if it wasn't asking too much, hoped that it would have a fun vibe. (*Check those criteria off). "Icing on the cake", for us would be if the location had decent food. (Check that one off and put an exclamation point behind it--as the nachos we had were, "Fire".) As fate would have it, a lucky break was to be had as we walked in to the very-full bar. There, before us, were two stools at the bar (*the last remaining spots in the place) and they happened to be open. Side note: The bar has a speak-easy attached to it, and one day, we are gonna try it. Going there has been mentioned a few times when we have chatted with locals and tourists regarding memorable and unique things to do. Our servers were pleasant and accommodating despite the fact that the place was "choke widd plenty-kine cust-a'mah" (local pidgin for, full of customers). It's a hard balancing act to make patrons feel welcomed, but also not leave other thirsty tables waiting for too long. The two pretty blondes working that afternoon did a fantastic job at this. My seasonal sour beer hit all the right notes, and my wife seemed to enjoy her less exotic tap beer (Blue moon with an orange slice--served ice cold). There is a ton of beers to choose from here. Lighting in the Kailua Tavern is kinda darkish (not a problem, as I like me a dark bar sometimes). The locals were very-welcoming. One guy offered his table to us when he noticed our food had arrived and our plates were a bit pinned in. Also, anyone who happened to be sitting near us immediately engaged in friendly banter about the games. One guy of Tongan decent, who was probably 6'5" and had muscles piled-on to his massive frame came over and leaned in very close to ask, "Hey DEN, Bradah, YOU MIND FOR IF I GO DANCE WICH YOU DATE?" (*That didn't happen, I thought channeling a classic moment from the bar-scene in, Animal House, would be funny...but like the Toronto Blue Jays in the late innings of last night's game, "Swing and a miss". ) The Kailua Town Tavern was the opposite of a swing and a miss for us. It was fun and a good place to "chill"; the vibe was what we had hoped for; and of special note were the steak strips on the nachos, as they were superb.

THE FOOD. Omg. Everything is delicious. I've been here a few times now and they have never disappointed. I absolutely love the roast pork, but honestly, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Here's my completely unbiased (very biased) ranking: Petiscos - Kind of like a charcuterie board for bad bitches (i.e. me). 5/5 Sardines - 5/5. I use the sauce for everything. Cod Balls - 5/5. I would rub these on my face if I could. Bolo de Bolacha - Like tiramisu, but with experience. One of my favorites. Branzino - This fish is so soft and flavorful, and the salad it comes with is incredible. It takes a little longer to prepare, so order it first! Pistachio Rum Cake - Also one of my favorites. I genuinely can't choose. It's buttery, delightful, and just the right amount of sinful. Pastéis de Nata - A classic for a reason. The best custard tarts you'll ever have. I could eat one every morning with a cup of tea. Medeiros ʻOhana Celebration Cake - Chocolate. Cherry. Goodness. That's all I have to say. Arroz Doce - Think crème brûlée meets rice pudding. AMAZING. I've had it both warm and cold, and honestly, both are incredible. If you're looking for a dessert to take with you and eat in the car on the way home (because somehow you'll still have room), this is the one. Basically... just go. The food on the menu is selectively chosen, and having nearly ordered most of the dishes due to having a party of 8, they were all wonderful. You won't go wrong with any dish. Of the appetizers, the sausage, and the wings were to DIE FOR - Ordered 2-3 orders of each by the end of the night. Of the main dishes: Fresh Branzino, Piri Piri Chicken, Vina Dalhos, Alcatra.... It was all wonderful in flavor, presentation, and feel. They all shared one massive theme that was noticeable: Freshness, balance of acidity and spice, and play of fire. If I had to nit pick, the piri piri was a bit overcooked, as it came out not as moist. But the other dishes carried the restaurant into 5 star territory. Service was good - attentive and friendly. The desserts were out of this world. Just get them all. But if you can't, the crème brûlée rice pudding was one of the best I've had with beautiful texture, mouth feel, and balance in vanilla and brown sugar! Thank you for an unexpected dinner and for handling such a large party. They typically only have one space for a party this size.
