Delish! Our first day in Camden and I wanted a real breakfast so we came to explore the main harbor and street. Buttermilk Kitchen is one of the main breakfast spots and was highly recommended. We waited about 45 minutes on a 20 minute quote and eventually I went to sit right beside the hostess stand with my toddler bc it was getting long and they seated us quickly after that. Our server was very friendly and happy to make recommendations. We went with the fresh biscuit of the day - which was a delicious peach cornmeal served sliced and warmed. I chose to order the chicken breakfast biscuit sandwich and my husband had the corned beef hash. All was very good and the inside is cute and charming - there is a nice back patio with a few hightop tables overlooking the water.

Situated a door or two down from the Smiling Cow is Buttermilk Kitchen. We didn't have plans to eat in Camden, but the timing turned out to be perfect for lunch, and this sounded good. And it was. My husband was in a breakfast mood and got some scrambled eggs with a blueberry pancake and bacon. He loved it. I wasn't in a breakfast mood, which is a shame because that's what they appear to specialize in (far more choices). Lunch choices were very limited, so I ended up ordering a fried haddock sandwich. I'm not a fried foods kind of person, but it was what they offered. I have to say, it was very tasty... and fresh. I really enjoyed it even if it was fried. It was very conveniently located, so I couldn't be too picky about what they offered on the menu. I was hoping for a bit more to choose from, but okay, I made it work anyway.

Stopped by Buttermilk for breakfast before heading out of Camden. Someone had recommended it - I believe they said the chef had competed on Top Chef. Its walk-in only but it was only about 15 minutes for the first available which was two seats at the counter. The atmosphere was very upbeat and bright inside. We decided to share an order of the biscuit donuts - delicious. For our mains, we each got a chicken biscuit sandwich and we split one side of the cheddar grits. The biscuit sandwiches are so good. The chicken was cooked perfectly, and the biscuits are so buttery and grumbly. The sandwich was huge though - I wanted to eat every bite but it was impossible to. The side of grits was more than enough for the two of us to share - we had more than half leftover. Definitely need to hit this place up for breakfast if you are visiting Camden!

What a gem of a restaurant! Unfortunately we arrived at 1 pm and they were out of their special, lobster biscuits. BUT, we were able to start off with some awesome biscuit donuts with maple glaze. Yummy. Then on to lobster chowder with a biscuit served with wild blueberry jam. Nice chunky soup and great flaky biscuit. Finally we had the hybrid biscuits and gravy where I added some lobster meat. Great combo. Enjoyed this all on the deck overlooking the harbor with great service by Ali. We'll be back. Earlier next time!

We absolutely loved Buttermilk Kitchen! We were there 4th of July morning. There was a bit of a wait and I absolutely love that they take your number and text you when your table is ready so you can go and look in the Local shops. Our server was so friendly and our food came out fast! We were impressed with how efficient everything ran. Now onto the best part! Our meal! Omg!! It was all sooo good! I had a latte, the maple donuts and a breakfast sandwich! It was soo good we talked about it all day and had to go back the next morning for breakfast again! We sat outside and it was a great little spot with the same great food and service! We can't wait to go back on our next trip

Buttermilk is the cutest little breakfast/diner in all of downtown Camden! The service is outstanding, coffee is delicious, the lavender latte was fabulous, and the daily donut special is always soft and fluffy with a crispy exterior....crazy super delicious! Definitely a must try!

As an Atlantan, it came as quite the surprise to find Buttermilk Kitchen in Camden, Maine. While I haven't eaten often at the location in Atlanta, it's always due to the incredibly long lines, which is directly related to the amazing food. The once great Marriner's for just over 80 years, brought in Buttermilk Kitchen, which kept much of the old charm as a tip of the hat to the heritage of the space. As to the Camden location, the food was excellent. A taste of the south in Maine and with a Northeastern twist. Items like corned beef hash, blueberry pancakes and lobster are in addition to the traditional southern biscuits & gravy, grits/pimento cheese grits and the classic southern fried chicken biscuit. Service was great, and with a bit of southern charm. The chef/owner was out delivering food (impressive!) and could not have been most hospitable. Maine really got a big gift in her move to Camden. I highly encourage people to try it out!

We loved Buttermilk kitchen in Atlanta, GA and it was always so busy. We were excited when the owner and chef moved to Maine and opened this restaurant in downtown Camden. Super yummy biscuits and her famous chicken biscuits with red pepper relish and pickles. So good. You can add a side of pimento grits as well....so yummy. Wish I would have had room for some fried green tomatoes. This southern born girl was in heaven. The space is small, quaint and cute on the inside. I believe they close at 2pm and are on closed on Tuesdays. They also offer lunch options and haddock chowder. They are downtown Camden so you would look for street parking or the lot down by the water. In the summer they have a small deck that faces the water.

Nestled between centuries old shops of Main Street Camden, Buttermilk Kitchen at Marriner's is an adorable brunch spot featuring traditional Maine flavors with a southern twist. Our party of 6 arrived at noon on a Sunday in August and the wait was about 45 minutes, but there were plenty of shops to pass the time. Everyone enjoyed their meals starting with the incredible fried green tomatoes. The fried haddock sandwich was thick and tasty. The biscuits with homemade Maine blueberry jam was the perfect side to accompany the fresh veggies in the Market hash. The fried chicken on a bed of pimento grits was a great plate to share. Great experience all around and we will be back the next time we're in Camden!

We stopped in after a weekend of camping, hungry! We left full and even took the biscuit mix with us! Our server, Ocean was fast & efficient. I had a garden omelette that was just right. Wayne, in his quest for homemade hash was thrilled & his poached eggs were perfectly cooked. Two standouts: the home fries & the biscuits. Home fries were crispy on the outside, flavorful and delicious. The biscuits are buttermilk drop biscuits, made better with their blueberry basil jam. We enjoyed all of this in a window seat overlooking Camden Harbor. Pretty cool

The vibe was cozy, warm, and inviting, which was a far cry from most places we had visited which seemed a bit exhausted and ill prepared to deal with lingering fall tourists. The food was phenomenal with complex and interesting flavors. The calamari was crispy and the chilis and sauce were the perfect complement. The chicken was also perfectly cooked and seasoned. But by far the best dish was the mussels. The broth with the soft chunks of sweet potato and bread to soak everything up was perfection. Cocktails were also unique and tasty. 3 alcoholic drinks, one small plate and 2 entrees was $100, which was well worth the price for the quality of the food and atmosphere.

I am not sure it is fair to say service was slow since it was late/the holiday weekend factor, but do note there was only one server in the space. Lots of love to them for squeezing us in. I liked that the space felt like someone's home. It was quite intimate. The menu was very unique and offered a lot of fusion feeling items. I am not sure if it was just the circumstance, but the food fell a bit flat for us. My best friend ordered the burger and it was pretty burnt. I got a sort of scallop curry that came with bread. The curry was lovely, but would've been really great with rice. I ended up using the bread making it a bit of a bread curry. Would be interested to try other things on the menu.

We went this Sunday for brunch and were told the wait for food would be 40 minutes despite having a reservation. Looking around the restaurant, there were empty tables, so they were not at capacity. Stopped in to get some snacks to eat while hiking: in keeping with local produce, got a blueberry bran muffin and a maple bun whose name I forget. The question, for me, is whether the baking elevates these ingredients beyond if I'd just had blueberries and maple syrup. About that, I'm not sure.

Since it was between breakfast and lunch we decided to stop into Atlantic Baking for a coffee and a pastry. Atlantic Baking is an unassuming shop right along what I'm going to consider a main street through Rockland. Not necessarily THE main street, but the Main-est we saw, so I'm sticking with that. Inside are several cases of pastries, breads, rolls, donuts and other baked goods that looked at me as if to say "I dare you". There was a cinnamon roll-ish thing that looked really good, and a Vanilla latte are what talked to me most. The staff (two young ladies on this morning) were busy hustling and, even with that, were helpful as they tried to keep taking care of customers. The vanilla latte was SUE-PERB, albeit a bit hot for my taste (had it let is cool first). As we sat having our halfway-between-breakfast-and-lunch-but-not-really-brunch snack there was a steady stream of customers, I'm guessing about 50/50 regulars and cruisers. Aside from pastries, coffees and teas, there's a cooler with canned/bottle beverages for the on-the-go beverage drinker. With as much activity as was going on during our visit you'd think it'd be difficult to keep clean, but there was a gentleman who came out frequently to take care of emptied tables, trash, etc. There are windows into the baking area, proving that they've got nothing to hide. Most everything is made on site with fresh, natural ingredients by people who take pride in what they do. Atlantic Baking is a charming place and a nice stop for a mid-morning snack
