Crab roll at Scott's Place in Camden, ME.
    Tom D.

Had lunch at Scott's Place after walking around downtown Camden. Wife ordered a Lobster roll and a cup of clam chowder. I went with a Crab roll, and we shared some fries. Meals came out after a short wait, we planned to eat on a nearby picnic table. Had to go back and ask for ketchup and utensils. Lobster roll was alright, a bit small in size though. Crab tasted too salty for my liking. Clam chowder lacked flavor and was lukewarm, at best. For $53 and change, we were underwhelmed. Not sure how this place gets all these good reviews, that simply wasn't our experience this afternoon. Seems more like a place where locals come to eat burgers and sandwiches, and they have sub-par lobster & crab rolls for the tourists. Sorry Scott, that's disappointing.

We stopped by for the first time for lunch recently and noticed a sign indicating it was celebrating its 51st anniversary. The hot dogs were decent though the roll was merely heated, not grilled to any extent, and the chili sauce, heaven forbid, included beans. We won't be returning.

CASH ONLY!!! Our mistake that we didn't realize this was cash only before showing up here. There was an ATM in the complex however it was out of service. Luckily we had $10 cash on us and were able to get 2 deluxe cheese burgers which had mayo, lettuce, and tomato. The burgers were small, similar to fast food style but the price made it worth it. I didn't realize you have to ask to have ketchup on your burger, so the mayo that was on it from the deluxe option was fine. This little shack is in parking lot with other establishments. They have picnic tables. Service was quick

Interesting little shack, this was our first stop for lobsta rolls. The prices were incredible, and we found out that it's due to the small size of the food. The quality was decent, but I'd compare it to bar food, do not expect a sit down restaurant. They did have picnic tables for anyone hoping to eat there, and the service was quick! Although I wouldn't walk from downtown again, I would stop if I was already passing by.

Highly recommend stopping by Scott's place. We went here on a whim because the place we wanted to go was closed, but glad we did! Prices were so reasonable which was nice for a change. Sandwich's were delicious and had a reasonable amount of meat too!

Delicious lobster roll and only 10.99!!

Perfect to watch the boats and free water taxi coming and going. Our waitress was very busy. We didn't see much of her, but she did a nice job for having so many tables. We tried the clam chowder. Way think and rich. I'd love to see more clams, but only because I like mine full. There was plenty in the bowl though. Needed a little more salt & pepper, but I like that it doesn't come out over seasoned so we can fit our taste buds. Husband had the 1.5lb lobster . He said it was really good. He said he needed at 3lb to be full. French fries were crunchy on the outside and perfectly soft in the center. The way I love them. I ordered the "fried" haddock Ruben. I ordered mine broiled instead. Perfectly toasted marble rye bread. The fish was pretty buttery and not a large piece of fish. Maybe a little too much for my personal liking. But the haddock had good flavor and texture. Slaw was ok. Felt like it needed a distinct flavor to make it pop! 3 bean salad was really good though. Lobster was $35. I felt like that wasn't a bad price. Overall, I'd stop in for lunch again.

Have returned twice since then. As the menu is small and hasn't changed since my first visit, the charm has worn off. I usually share the roast half chicken plus 2-3 sides. The meal was absolutely flavorful on my first visit but not so much the last visit in Dec 2025. Maybe it was a bad night? I thought the flavors fell flat and service was not as attentive. I was celebrating the holidays by treating friends to dinner and had to wave down someone twice to order rounds of drinks. I will give any establishment 20 stars if they are paying attention as to whether your glass is half empty. For me, the food can be excellent or blah but excellent service can make or break a restaurant.

So... enjoy the food but pack your patience and perhaps don't look too hard at the walls of the dining room.

There are maybe 10 tables so even when "busy" it's never chaotic (well I've only been once and it wasn't too crowded but Hannah said as much and she seems very honest!) The food and service is very much the appeal and they absolutely nailed it. Pointedly they did not spend a lot on interior, yet it's simple, tasteful, and appealing. They don't open every night, just Thu Fri Sat - which is why they still love it - their words but my wholehearted agreement. It's not inexpensive but when someone has clearly mastered their crafts like these two, I am onboard every time. Also, you know when you love a place but after going a bunch of times you get kinda tired of the menu? Well these two change menu every three weeks! Camden has a bunch of restaurants that cater to the tourists - they are fine and some are even good but not special at all. But this place, what can I say, I fell in love and will be back often! Maybe it is on purpose but it made me a bit uncomfortable to keep asking about preparation of the dishes throughout the courses. This one is located in downtown Camden and offers some outdoor patio seating with great views. Sea Dog Brewing is by no means in talks of outstanding beers or brewery considering the far superior competition the state of Maine has. Even their most popular blueberry beer tastes much more artificial than you would hope. Sea Dog has been a brewery for a long while but I don't think they have kept up with the quality of craft beer you can find now. Now despite that negative talk overall about their beers I do believe most of the locations do offer quality pub food. You will find a variety of options including sandwiches/burgers, salads, pasta, soups, and more. It's a spot that everyone in your party including picky eaters will find something they want. It does have a lot of space available for dining. Service wise during our visit was alright. Ordering took awhile and time of seeing our server from one time to next took a little while. Food wise I went with Sesame Chicken Bowl and my wife got the Sautéed Lemony Chicken Piccata. Food was alright, my wife's chicken was quite dry. Overall I think it's an alright spot to grab a bite to eat when in Camden. You can likely find better spots but like I mentioned they do offer quite a variety here so give it a shot.
