First time going. It was beyond good! You're going to wait a little bit if you go in with a few people but it's worth it. If you close your eyes and listen, you hear music in the background, silverware hitting plates, people chatting, laughing, and deep in conversation. It's almost like I was transported back into the late 80s-early 90s where the people are friendlier, the food is actually homemade, and the portions are sized like they used to be. The little plastic flowers perfectly set at each table weren't full of dust, the waitress was walking around topping off everyone's coffee cups, and the little jelly packets on the table just made me feel like a kid at a diner.. but with an adult pallet ready to eat a hearty meal. I will crave this pot roast. The only down was my husbands French fries were very well done but he was warned that the chef knew it and would replace them if he wanted. They gave us the option to return them but honestly, we had such a good time and we were full from our meals that it didn't even bother him. I hope your experience will be as good as mine. read more

Recently moved to the area and this place came highly recommended. I got the pictured item and my wife got a pancake, which she loved. The food came out nice and hot after a minimal wait and the wait staff was very friendly. I quite enjoyed my breakfast. I found the steak to have a nice crispy batter without being dry, the scrambled eggs were cooked perfectly and the sausage/ home fries were delicious. I personally found the gravy to be a little bland, and I like a sausage gravy over a plain white gravy, but that is nit picking in what was overall a very good meal. Nice saving grace when you're hitting the road early and need a home cooked meal. They do have signage indicating that they're short staffed due to COVID-19 so you should enter with time on your hands. Despite the wait, the servers were very efficient. A staff of three clearly worked hard to get everyone seated, fed and on their way in a decent time frame. We were in and out in about an hour and a half most of which was spent waiting for seats and then the food. We were working with a time crunch and they did pretty well. The place was relatively clean and the staff was really nice. If you come with reasonable expectations for a roadside diner, you will be happy here. If you're expecting a big city experience, you'll leave upset. I enjoyed my orange juice and corned beef hash breakfast. My dining companions opted for the breakfast sandwiches: one on a biscuit and one on an english muffin. No complaints were had. Their coffee is decent and their food is filling. Stopped here after hiking in Camden state park. Great little diner! Unpretentious, good food. My wife had a haddock chowder that she thought was the best she'd had in Maine, with a haddock sandwich side. I had an excellent turkey burger, and apple pie. The kids had a cheeseburger and pasta alfredo (the latter didn't look great to me, but my son devoured it so I guess it was good). The meal for 4 came up to less than $50. Don't expect gourmet. But Maine is getting expensive, we've found on this visit - and this was a nice affordable and very decent surprise. read more

Sweet little diner that we happened to find while visiting Maine during COVID. A lot of places were closed so we were relieved that they were open! I have eaten lobster rolls at several places on this trip and these were the best so far. If this review was based on only that, it would have gotten a 5. My hubby had the fish and chips and the fish was burned and no taste. I also ordered the chowder and it was not good at all. It was warm milk with seafood added. We each had pie, one a chocolate and one coconut cream. They were very good. So this was good and bad. We have passed this place during breakfast hours and it looks like it is always packed so we may try that some morning. We stopped on her way to Camden and then went to the Samoset. We really wanted to go to a local place and we found this little place. The waitress is really sweet and was very nice her smile was infectious. I got the fish and chips and my husband got the fried shrimp. They were both very good. Good quality. So I've been going to the Rockport Diner for about 27 years now...even back when it was in the old lighthouse across the street. Now it's pretty charmless, a tan box of a building with nautical/americana decor. There is an odd booth in the middle of the space, like they couldn't figure out where it was supposed to go. 6 of us (2 moms, 2 sons and their sig others) scored a table pretty quickly in the relatively small space, quite the feat on any Sunday, and especially mother's day. However, once we were seated, the waitress had no sense of urgency nor washe very adept. Andy got blueberry pancakes, bacon, eggs, and toast. The pancakes were a bit off to me. Mom got a half portion of Andy's meal. Aunt Cindi got her usual (can we tell who picked the place) which I think was just eggs, toast and bacon. Andrew got the same as his mom, and Michael got something. I had eggs benedict. The hollandaise sauce was delicious but the ham was a bit too thick for my liking. The english muffin was pretty good though. The waitress got a bit ambitious and ended up dropping apple juice in Andrew's lap. It was a chore to get coffee refills for the moms and Andy and me. If I could give this place no stars I would. We waited an hour for this abomination of a meal and I believe I would have waited even longer if I didn't say something about how long we were sitting there. The pancakes were so grainy my daughter couldn't stomach them and every omelet was tasteless. The broccoli in my omelet felt like rubber and was chewy while the bacon must have been made the day before as it was dry but felt like it sat in grease for quite some time; the hash brown was something I can find in the frozen food section of a grocery store. The owner did take the pancakes off the bill and our drinks but wouldn't comp the meal that came out much after the rest and considering all meals were cold i would have thought they'd have made more of an effort to keep customers happy. We were in Rockport for 2 weeks in June. We ate lunch every weekday that we were here as well as eating there twice for breakfast. The ladies who work there are some of the friendliest people around!! We always felt welcome! The food was always great. My husband said their burgers are some of the best he's ever had. I particularly loved the chicken salad sandwich and the pancakes! We got take-out twice for picnics, and they didn't disappoint. The portions are huge and filling! Their desserts are awesome, and I even bought a loaf of bread from them for our rent house. We miss everybody there, & we can't wait to go back the next time we visit Rockport!! read more

I grew up in southern New England and really miss the multitude of great diners for breakfast. Having lived in various places since, I'm always interested in a good diner. After living in this area for awhile, I've finally eaten at the Rockport Diner. It was lunchtime and therefore there was a limited breakfast menu. I had two scrambled eggs with cheese, bacon and homefries. I was really disappointed. It was more like cafeteria food than diner food. It tasted like none of my meal was fresh. The eggs tasted like reconstituted or carton eggs, the bacon I'd bet was precooked and microwaved and the homefries were previously frozen. I was very disappointed. I will not go back. However, the servers were very accommodating and friendly, so they win on service, just not the food. read more

My wife and I had breakfast here this morning and were disappointed. While the waitress was nice and friendly and the place was clean, the blueberry pancakes were awful. They were dry and had the grainy consistency of a stale corn muffin. When I complained to the waitress she apologized and said that they were using a new batter.
