My experience landscaping my yard was from start to finish, and simply put, he did a great job. First, let me say that I have never written a review for anything, quite frankly, I don't have the time. So the fact that I am doing this speaks volumes. I wish I had the time to write more - please contact me if you have any questions. Now for more detail... I had a lot of ideas for our yard, but didn't know how to convey those ideas into form. Pete took the time to listen to what I had in mind, add good ideas of his own, and steer me in directions that were either more practical or more economical. I particularly like that he has the ability to draw plans in advance. This in itself saved us a lot of money. Yes, he charged for them, but it allowed us to review, discuss, and work out all the details in advance so we knew exactly what we were in for. In other words, getting an estimate, and then changing your plan in the middle of the job will cost you more money. (ahem) I worked very closely with Pete, he is honest and does a good job. He is very focused and will not be running around to other jobs. I valued his attention, his knowledge and his commitment to doing things right. Our yard is beautiful, functional, and done to perfection. By the way, he is very easy to reach by phone, text or email.

Stay away from Pete Chouler, owner of this business and any other future business he may own. We…read morehired him through a mutual friend, he has worked for reputable companies, etc., gave us a quote of approx. $15,000 to xeriscape front yard and drip irrigate entire back yard. It took him nearly three months (at an hourly rate) to complete the work. It ended up costing us over $23,000, though I admittedly added a few things. He pads his time doing unnecessary work like recementing posts in my fence, trimming trees, replacing lock on my gate: all without asking if I wanted or needed them done. He has to be watched every minute. He assured me that he was capable of building a cedar boardwalk over the rocks in front, although he admitted he had never built one before. I believe I spent over $2000, including materials. Within 3 months, the boards were cracking and cupping, some an inch higher than the adjoining board. Talk about tripping hazards! He came back once and fixed some of the boards, then insisted on charging me $600 for his repair time when it was his poor craftsmanship that caused the cracking and cupping to begin with. I'm no good at arguing, so paid what he asked (stupid move...) He said he would come back soon to replace 10 boards that he agreed still needed to be replaced and the two of us together marked each board scheduled for replacement. They are still marked. That was three months ago. I can no longer reach him by text or email. I am reporting him to the contractors licensing bureau, the BBB, and probably taking him to court, if I can find him. I am a newly widowed woman and trusted that he would not 'take' me, since we had mutual friends. Well, buyer beware. He knows just enough to be dangerously inadequate in what he claims he can do.
