Roy Murillo and his team did an amazing job. I designed our front and back yards and am floored at how they made it into reality! They helped to transform a so-so tract home front yard into something attractive and our pile of dirt back yard into something beautiful. Along the way, Roy was good at communicating with us and his team. His team are masters at their craft and take pride in their work. Their attention to detail with things we didn't even think of was appreciated - such as adding a small grade to the patio so water all flows into the drains they installed. When we miscommunicated or if something wasn't up to our extremely high standards (like we wanted one side of the firepit to be moved over 3/4"), Roy simply had his team fix it. The other big plus was Roy's willingness and ability to communicate with our pool contractor. I barely was involved. Both of them discussed plans and Roy listened to what our pool contractor needed for drainage around the pool and how tile should be placed around the pool cover well. I didn't have to worry about gas lines, drainage etc.. they figured out what needed to be done between them. Roy typically focuses on 1-2 jobs at a time, so there was momentum on our job. We saw many of our neighbors abandoned by their contractors half way, disappearing for a month or more, but Roy's team kept showing up, and got our job done quite quickly. When we had issues with our polymeric sand setting (something to do with our tile - Roy used the same polymeric sand and base at other sites and it worked), Roy and his team persisted in finding a solution. Even though everything was pretty much done, they tried several times to make things right. Finally, we found an Irish product on Amazon that did the trick. It's not a product typically sold in the US and is applied differently from regular polymeric sand. Roy made sure his team watched the videos and went over the instructions with them so the product was applied correctly. We are so happy he helped us find a solution (and we learned a lesson - sometimes it's better to stay away from super cheap, need to clear the store room, product)! In summary, working with Roy Murillo and his crew was a great experience. His pricing is reasonable (I compared several landscapers), and he and his crew truly know what they are doing. I have recommended them to family and neighbors and would work with them again in a heartbeat. read more

Our small yard needed intensive weeding after the long season of rain; we could barely step outside with how overgrown it was. Rogelio was really responsive; got back to me the same day with a quote and scheduled within the week. His guys were really efficient and knowledgeable; they knew exactly which plants to leave alone even though we didn't give many details. Roy and his crew did a great job on our big wall and fence project, finishing on time with no surprises. Roy was very responsive to any question or concern. Project required him to coordinate with the neighbor above us and do most of the work from their yard being sensitive to specific concerns and requests. Project was to replace a failing fence at the top of our backyard bank (100+ ft.) with a block retaining wall, drain behind the wall, as well as a root barrier. A fence then was built on top, stained a different color on each side. The crew were professional, navigating difficult slopes and changing elevation. They did a wonderful job of cleaning up and repairing turf damaged by bobcat, replanting plants that had been removed, etc. This was a difficult job completed exactly on time and at original estimate! read more

We chose Murillo Landscape based on Yelp reviews here and meeting with Roy and getting an estimate. As the photos show, it was a very good choice and we are happy to recommend Murillo Landscape to everyone. We started the work amidst the supply chain issues and post-pandemic issues. So we had to be flexible about the timing of various things, but it worked out well. Roy was easy to work with, and he came up with sensible ways to accomplish what we wanted to get done. The crew were very courteous and competent. His lieutenant, Naftali, and his team, Rogelio and Gonzalo, were very diligent and considerate. They left the yard nice and clean at the end of every work day, they did not rush anything and took the required amount of time to get things right. They are really good at their work and it shows. My neighbors were very impressed with the workmanship and the professionalism. The pictures tell the story. As you can see they matched the pavers with the existing concrete path and made it look exactly how we visualized it! EXPERIENCE OF AN UNHAPPY CUSTOMER Before I hired Murillo Landscape, I told the owner Roy the job was primarily to pull weeds and Roy said, "Yes, this is the time of year when you have to pull weeds". I terminated Murillo's services because they would not pull weeds. Roy wrote and said, "I do want to mention that nobody ever asked for 100% weed pulling, so I think they (meaning his crew) just weren't use to that, and wanted to do their regular routine." I don't know what Roy meant by their regular routine, but I will describe what I received and will be paying for. Day 1. Two men came for an 8 hour day, but only worked 7 hours including a lunch break. I asked them to prune some citrus trees and I had to teach them how to properly prune. They did a good job pruning and a few other tasks. I paid Roy's bill of $500 for two men for 8 hours and not the 7 hours they actually worked. Day 2. Two men were to work two hours. I asked them to pull weeds and trim a few branches along a fence. I said, "Call my cell if you run out of work." One man trimmed the branches which took half an hour. Then he walked around the yard and driveway with a leaf blower for half an hour. I assumed the other man had been pulling weeds for the first hour. After one hour, I went to see how they were doing and I saw them sitting down. At first they didn't see me, but as I walked up, one guy jumped up and ran off and I never saw him again. After one and a half hours, I went to check on them again, but their truck was gone. They could not have been here more than 1 1/2 hours and not the 2 hours I was paying for. After they left, the yard waste bin was three quarters full of the branches trimmed the first half hour. I did not see any weeds in the bin and I assume none were pulled. Day 3, The crew arrived 15 minutes late. I asked why they left half an hour early on day 2 and they said they had another job to go to. I said, "If I pay for two hours you are supposed to work two hours. Today, I want you to pull weeds because that is what I hired you to do." One of the men said, "What's a weed?" I replied, "You're supposed to be professional gardeners. You should know which plants are weeds." I then pointed to about 6 weeds, which they pulled. Little did I know those would be the only weeds they would ever pull. I also asked them to trim a 12 ft. by 2 ft. strip of ice plant and to rake a 15 ft. by 15 ft. area of leaves and spread them as mulch. That day, I had a painter painting the outside of my home. After 30 minutes, I see the leaf raker guy is now strolling around with the blower. Leaf blowing went on for 30 minutes and I decided to ask why he was leaf blowing and not pulling weeds, because I wrongly assumed that the leaves were raked up. As I came out of the house, the leaf blower guy is standing 5 feet from the painter blowing dirt into the painter's face and onto the wet paint. I told him to turn the blower off and pull weeds. I apologized to the angry painter who said, "That's why I don't hire helpers. You get guys like that!" The next thing I knew the two yard workers were driving off in their truck. Just another short job of less than 2 hours. They were here three short times, but I was billed for the full time. They did a very small amount of work. The yard waste bin contained the ice plant cut the first half hour, but not a single weed. I now knew that if I was not standing over them then nothing would be done. I texted Roy, describing the crew's poor performance. Roy said he would come out to get things straight, but after waiting 6 days, I terminated Murillo's services. Roy texted a $360 bill for four hours, but, after I complained they were only here 3 hours and fifteen minutes, he reduced the bill to $300. Therefore, I will be paying for clearing a small strip of ice plant, raking a few leaves, trimming a few small tree branches, and over an hour of leaf blower strolling, but no weeds pulled. In 45 years this is the highest rate, I was ever billed, for yard work and it was the worst service ever. I have since hired another gardener. Here is what he did in 4 hours. This 60 year old man has only one arm. His other arm is a prosthetic arm. In 4 hours, this man filled two and one quarter yard waste bins with weeds and also raked an area. His fee to accomplish twice as much work was $130. read more

Roy and his team nailed it again! After doing such a great job with a retaining wall replacement, we hired them a second time. Neftali, as team leader, did a great job with our major outdoor project. He and the guys created a beautiful outdoor kitchen, installed a patio cover, an outdoor rinse off area, made a firepit space with decomposed granite, fixed our drainage issues, poured new concrete, helped design/replace the landscaping in the front, built an enclosure for the a/c unit, stair rails, etc. These guys can do it all! We had a lot of work done by Roy and his team - we are very happy with the results. We did go a little over budget with some items but nothing that broke the bank. We had two gates, retaining wall, front landscaping, storage shed, and tiki bar done and the workmanship for all items are great. There was an issue with the retaining wall build at the start of the project but Roy addressed the issue right away. Roy was super quick to respond and was very reasonable to work with. Just wish some of his guys do a better job of remembering to clean after themselves. They were very polite but did leave a few pieces of trash from their lunches on separate occasions. Not enough to take a star away as Roy immediately spoke to his guys about it when I brought it up. Will definitely use them in the future - there's so much work to be done around our home! read more
