I came here because to duplicate keys. I tried duplicating keys at Home Depot and Walmart, but was having issues. The keys duplicated there were not turning when inserted into the lock. I believe, Lala, helped me with the whole process. The process took less than 5 minutes and I received three keys. Went to try the keys out, they worked. Made an appointment 2 days in advanced for a spare key fob to be made. I confirmed 2x on the phone the appointment time, appointment purpose and price (was quoted $225). When I went in for my appointment, I was told that they did not have the "dealership device" to program the key AND that the price of the key was actually $325. Tomas (the manager) and his associate double checked their notes and confirmed that they had written $225. When asked to honor their original quote, they declined. They were only able to offer to send a technician to my house (since it was their fault they didn't have the proper equipment in store at the time of the appointment) and to take 10% off the $325. I appreciated their offer but was able to find a more competitive price elsewhere. If using Busy Bee Locks, I would highly recommend to triple check appointment time, all necessary tools will be available during appointment time and price before they begin services. read more

When Kyle arrived, he determined that two of the locks were too old to rekey and suggested another solution, which solved the problem of having lost keys, and was less expensive as well. Busy Bee programmed and cut my key fobs for $85 for my Grand Caravan and $100 for my Nissan Sentra. So my total for my Nissan Sentra was $125 compared to over $350 the dealer quoted me. I called Busy Bees on a very rainy day in San Diego. They wanted to come out "in 90 minutes"! Unfortunately, I wasn't home, and didn't want to subject the locksmith to pouring rain. So, I made an appointment for the following day, Saturday. Jerry, the owner himself, shows up 9:30ish am. Apparently, my Tahoe gave him some trouble, and he even broke a tool while working on my vehicle, but he remained determined. He left to get another tool and came back to finish the job. I had lost my only key and remote (fob), so he had to break into the car, cut a new key, and program the new fob. In no time, he was done, and I was able to have my SUV back (which I hadn't driven in 2 weeks). Jerry is a great guy who loves cars, got the job done efficiently, and at a reasonable price. Thomas Shaw helped me with my 2009 Toyota Prius. This Prius has an older entry system. To get into my car, I can either push a fob button or awkwardly remove a hidden cut key from the fob and insert it into the door keyhole. The key head (not sure what to call it) is so small that it's difficult to turn. One time, I dropped my fob onto the street when I had detached it from the key to manually unlock the door. The fob burst apart upon impact. If it was raining or I was near a gutter or something similar, I could have lost my fob and/or its parts. The fob must be inserted into the dash for the ignition to push start. In short, I needed to get the fob working again. The plan was to reprogram 2 fobs and cut 1 key. Although I had 2 uncut spare keys, I was trying to save money. The local Toyota dealership quoted me $463.70. Toyota does not service after-market keys, and one of the two keys I already have is after-market. They would have had to order a new Toyota key, which takes one day to arrive. Busy Bee quoted me $225 for an appointment at 10:30am. I called around 8:40am. Turns out, both my fobs were already programmed. One fob had an electrical component that needed to be shifted back into place, (I had shifted it out of place when I replaced the battery a couple of weeks ago), and the other fob just needed a new battery. I got 2 car keys cut ($5 each) and one new battery ($11). I paid $21 before tax or tip. I'm very satisfied with Thomas and all of Busy Bee Lock & Key and highly recommend them. read more

Sun shone down on me. Wind rustled against the sail. Sea spray was blinding me as the wind picked up. I felt so alive speeding across the bay.. It was my first time out on a catamaran with just my kid. In the past we had gone windsurfing but now the sail was much bigger and we were catching a lot more wind. We were tacking into a turn the wind got stronger and we lost control of the sail. Next thing I knew I was flying into the water and the catamaran flipped over. Water was freezing. My car keys had flown out of my pocket and sank to the bottom of the bay. Me and my kid couldn't right the catamaran and waited in the freezing water for the bay patrol to rescue us. I checked with the Honda dealer and it would cost almost $300 for a replacement key and programming. I put off the replacement as I had a spare. I noticed on Yelp there were locksmiths in town that could make spare's. Busy Bee quoted me $150 so I made an appointment to have it done. It took the nice locksmith 10 minutes to cut the key and another 20 to hook a machine up to my Civic and do the programming. Busy Bee provided fast friendly service at a great price. Surprised at the cost I relented and said ok. He opened it up and asked me if I had just replaced the battery, I said yes.
