Food was over cooked. Much of it was burned. Only full items on the menu were yakisoba and fried rice. We got both and both were overdone. Only one person was in line ahead of us so the cook shouldn't have felt rushed... must have been something else. Anyway it probably would've tasted fine if it weren't cooked so much. read more

We passed through Astoria while on vacation a couple weeks ago, and were lucky that my wife found Busu. We really enjoyed our food. Hot tip: get there when they open, since they'll likely run out of items and/or you'll have to wait in line. It is take-out only. We highly recommend it. read more

This was an absolute treat!! Busu is officially a Oregon staple for me and I will not be going to Astoria with out stopping by this glorious window. We had the karagee morels, yakisoba, and the pickle plate. All to die for. I had high expectations from who recommended it to me and it was even better. read more

Ordered the chilled noodles and pickled box - both excellent. Never would have thought of pickled strawberries- it was wild! Lots of flavor same with the mushrooms. Definitely recommend! Chilled noodles hit the spot. Large portion sizes. We found the most current menu on Instagram/Facebook. read more

Busu - Mixed pickle box: shiitake mushroom, alpine strawberries (white), kimchi, radish, cucumber - Japanese Near Me - Astoria, Oregon

really good food, impossible to get said food. Used to be a regular little food stall, open half the week for anyone to come by. Now, you either need to pay way too much for a "private dinner" or be one of the first few people in line for a once in a month pop-up. read more

We had three dishes and all three were amazing! The okonomiyaki was our favorite!! Menu changes frequently. No bad choices to be had! There is a beautiful park one block up to sit and enjoy. read more

Spam Fried Rice w/ Brussel Sprouts was fantastic! Great little food window putting out high-quality meals.

Hands down my FAVORITE food in Astoria, possibly ever. The owner is so kind and a great chef. His staples of Okonomiyaki, Yakisoba, and Pickle Plate are always a hit and consistently delicious. His specials are also awesome to try. He uses local ingredients and supports many local businesses from what I can tell. Highly highly recommend!! read more

Elegant and amazing food. We had albacore poke bowl, seafood cakes, and smoked tofu, all amazing. Also creamy shrimp mousseline and lobster soup - to absolutely die for. Not a sit down place but who cares! read more

My husband brought me home a brussels sprout salad from BUSU prepared on 1/28/2022. That salad was absolutely incredible! I have never had a salad with so much flavor - it really hit all the important elements of amazing taste and quality. The salad had brussels, finely chopped onion, mandarin oranges, dried cranberries, sunflower seeds, another seed that I wasn't familiar with, wasabi almonds and it was tossed in very tasty dressing that I wish came in a bottle because if it did, I'd buy it just to try and re-create this salad. I look forward to coming back to BUSU to try other items! Bravo. read more

This is the second meal I have eaten here and the Okonomiyaki was not good today. The owner assured me the shrimp was local and fresh. It was dried shrimp probably reconstituted from dried and bagged. Yuck. Also, there was so much brown salty sauce drowning the pancake that you couldn't anything else. Really disappointing. read more

Passing through Astoria today, we asked the bud tender for a lunch recommendation. We were approaching hanger when we walked up to the window and were greeted by the super friendly chef/owner. We saw lots of interesting options on the menu and ordered the tuna salad sandwich which came with locally sourced albacore and pickled veggies, yakisoba noodles with tofu, and a side of vegetables fresh from the farmers market. It was all beautifully presented and delicious. I'd definitely recommend this place. If you're looking for fresh, seasonal, and authentic I would totally give Busu a whirl. read more

My partner and I always make sure to eat here when passing through on our road trips. I'll wait the entire coast just to eat at Busu, definitely worth the stop! The owner is always so friendly, superb customer service. The food is so delicious, always fresh and seasonal ingredients. The menu is limited, but never limited in flavor or size! I appreciate the menu, it means a lot of care and love goes into their dishes. Also appreciate they always have vegan and vegetarian options as well. Thanks for the delicious food every time!! Husband and I stopped by Astoria on a rainy Sunday, and worked up an appetite. Didn't want heavy bar food. It's COVID, so we didn't want to sit inside a restaurant. Stumbled upon this place and--just wow--it was so satisfying. One of the best meals we've had out in some time. Super fresh. Homemade. We had a special with local chanterelles that was...*chef's kiss!* Chef gave us awesome service, too! We will be back. read more

Real Ramen in Astoria! A huge hole in Astoria's food scene has been masterfully filled. Don't miss out. The guy is legit! OFUKURO NO AJI ("Mom's cooking", if she ran TOMPOPO). The owner, Kenneth, knows and cares about ingredients and layers of flavor. Today Ramen was a rich wild mushroom / chicken based soup. Busu-San makes his own alkaline noodles! Definitely not something done by most. The experts warn against trying to make your own, and being one to ignore expert warnings, I can verify that it is damn hard tedious work. And he was sold out of he hand-made noodles! Every other ingredient is well made and right on the flavor target. The hours required to achieve the depth of umami have definitely been invested. His house made pickled mushrooms rocked. Pork shoulder is really delicious. All in All I'd say we'll be checking back frequently to see what Busu has to offer. read more

Had the "pickles". Best pickled anything I've ever had. It would have been my desert island food if it had daikon in it. Mushrooms were beyond perfect, I've never had them this soft, but still some pop, juicy not soggy, sea grass was crisp and cut correctly, strawberries were fun, and the Kim chi was a 6/10. I am brutal on how Kim chi should look, taste, spice, temperature, so a 6 is super good cabbage! Glad I stopped by and tried.when I visit again this will be a must. Oh thanks for throwing us vegans a bone when we are searching for a healthy snack read more

Stumbled upon Busu by chance last year. Every time I go to Astoria it's a must. I have actually specifically gone to Astoria to get Busu. The yakisoba is so bomb I highly recommend grabbing a couple friends and just ordering one of everything. You will not be disappointed! read more

Everything I've tried has been great. Although it's not always available, the ramen is life-changing!

Holy (variety of swears) this was delicious. He was almost out of everything and it was still amazing. Get there early, get whatever you can get your hands on, and eat with ferocity. read more

Absolutely amazing amazing food! Everything was packed full of flavor and I kept saying wow after every bite. The pork belly in the yakisoba was so tender and melted in the mouth. Literally a hole in the wall but easy enough to spot if you know where to look. I would 100% go there again. read more

Local owner runs the place. We didn't expect a lot given being a small town in Astoria but it was surprisingly very good! Cold ramen had flavorful pork and fresh organic vegetables that are well balanced with acid and salt. The dish was very tasty and satisfying. Definitely coming back to try other food. :) read more

Hands down best food in Astoria. Not only that the service is awesome. If you like Japanese food you have to try. Also the amount of food you get is great. I could wax on about how good it is but it wouldn't do it justice. GO EAT HERE!! read more

Amazing food! Fresh and good quality ingredients. Chief has a real passion for what he does and is super friendly! Love the walk-up window idea. We are very lucky to have this remarkable chef in town. Every time we get food from there we promise ourselves to return ASAP. Extremely fresh ingredients, prepared imaginatively and with a lot of skill. Kenny, the chef/owner, is a very kind and friendly person, too. All around, just great. read more

So glad we stopped here for food! Since trying okonomiyaki in Japan, if it's is on a menu, that's usually what we'll order. This one was one of the best we've had (and we've had a lot)! Large portion, and really fresh ingredients. The batter ratio was just right and lots of great textures and flavor. The owner, Kenny, knows what he's doing! Really nice guy and loved hearing his passion for quality and sustainable food. Thanks for the delicious lunch and company. Can't wait to come back! read more

Busu - Okonomiyaki with pork belly - Japanese Near Me - Astoria, Oregon

The mushroom noodle soup really hit the spot on a brisk day! The owner of the stand was very friendly and answered our questions thoughtfully. We had two soups and the asparagus appetizer/side dish. Everything was great. I was pleasantly surprised to see all vegetarian options (with some vegan too). The food came out quickly and we enjoyed it sitting on benches on the dock a short walk away. The prices are higher than I expected, but it beats paying the same amount for a more mediocre place with slower service. read more

This is a 1 man show and he does it well. The food was absolutely amazing. I ordered the yakisoba noodles and Japaneese pancakes. They were bought very tasty. Definitely a great addition to the food scene for a small town. The owner has a menu of what he will be serving for the day and it changes daily. Hopefully he gets more bussiness and he opens a bigger restaurant. Right now there is a counter where you order where you can sit and eat. We took it to go and ate in car. The portions are great and affordable. Love Busu!! read more

Insanely good ramen, better than what I've had in Portland. Paired with the pickled veggie platter, I WAS IN HEAVEN.

The vegan yakisoba noodles and vegan miso ramen were both SO good!!!! This is definitely going to be a spot we eat at every time we are in town. Check out the Facebook or Instagram before going to see what's happening, and if it's cold plan on taking your food to go because there's just a small bar outside to sit at. So so so good, highly recommend! read more

The best place in Astoria! Ken is the best, wonderfully creative and talented. Busy is a must if you are in Astoria!

Super awesome food. Glad I was able to stop in and get the yaki onigiri stuffed with crab and mussels. Keep it rollin!

Wow- Busu's was incredible! If you appreciate authentic Japanese flavors, give this a try. We ordered mix pickle- very fresh with vinegar bite. Good palette cleanser between the other dishes. Miso was delicious, mushroom curry was outstanding. Okonomiyaki (pancake) was show stopping- WOW! Fluffy pancake with fresh veggies and pork belly bits, delicious sauce and toppings. Get there early- the window gets busy and sells out! read more

Man, I don't know what kind of food wizardry is being made here but the food F***ING RULES! My partner and I ordered the Yakisoba with Tofu and the Pork Belly Udon while we were staying in Astoria (12/21/19). We were utterly blown away. I've never eaten tofu with such flavor and texture before. The shoyu broth was unreal. The noodles for both dishes kicked-ass. You could really taste the passion and dedication to cooking in the food itself. My only heads-up is that this is not a sit-down restaurant but more closely like a true Japanese-style order window. We had to take the food to-go but next time I'm in Astoria I will be sitting at the window to enjoy the ambiance and smell from the kitchen. YOU MUST GO HERE; the food will change your life! Ken (Kenzo) rules! Thank you! read more

Wish I had photos to show. But the food smelled and looked so good that we all just buried our faces on the bowls.... how would I describe it - it's not just food cooked and served, but created and crafted by someone who truly loves the whole process. Can't wait fir our next visit! read more

We got the yakisoba and the portions were HUGE! One portion fed 2 adults and 3 kids...we were satisfied but could have eaten more because it was so delicious. The owner was super nice and personable. We will definitely be back and will recommend to all our friends! read more

I write this with the sincere hope that Busu is able to find a spot where the diners can come inside and eat. I must be daft, but we didn't know there was only outdoor seating, on the sidewalk under the takeout window. This can not bode well for an Astoria winter. It was only November, and we had to put on extra jackets to eat dinner, but no hot beverages were available. The chance for Mr. Booth (Busu is a Japanese pronunciation of his last name) to have warm and happy diners around him, as he creates his wondrous dishes should be seized. Otherwise, prepare to drive-by order in February, and drive back to pick up. No phone. read more
