Walking into Busty's is like walking into a Time Machine-in the best possible way. No detail was overlooked in crafting an authentic 70s vibe. One of the best thing to do at Busty's is just to look around in awe at every beer sign, light fixture, upholstery choice, every minute detail that has gone into to adding to the 70's authenticity. Service is attentive, drink prices are reasonable. Music is just...well, perfect . Only comment is that I am vegetarian and not a lot of great vegetarian options on the menu. The decor and ambiance is very pleasing! The waitstaff is attentive and friendly. The food is good but not the best; a bit too over salted. The taquitos are pretty good! The coconut mojito slushy is yummy, as well as the espresso martini. Plus you can't go wrong with a pony of the Champagne of Beers! Hellz yeah! The ladies restroom is groovy! I recommend checking this bar out for sure. The only criticisms: the ladies restroom must have a plumbing issue because it's smelled awful like sewage a few times now. Loved this place! Came in around 1 for lunch and there were plenty of seats. Staff was very casual and friendly. Vibes were awesome, even down to the women's restroom! Loved the food. Lots of great classic choices at very reasonable prices. Homemade sauces are a great touch. Their special seasoning is very unique, it does have tajin in it it FYI. The smashburger was all the things I want in a burger. Greasy, special sauce, so cheesy. Drink menu had lots of amazing options, however I'd like to see some NA cocktails on there! Busty's is usually cool but sadly the staff was very pissy last night lol We asked our server politely if there were any chairs that we could add to our booth. Totally innocuous question. As a server/bartender myself, I can confidently say that there are sometimes chairs found at bars lol. But the server fired back "PFFT?! NO?! ITS A BAR?! GO OUTSIDE IF YOU WANT A BIGGER TABLE" as if we had asked the dumbest question in the history of innocuous questions Then we asked for water and she fired back "THERE'S A WATER STATION OVER THERE" in the most terse and unfriendly way possible. At this point I began to ask Jesus for forgiveness for we had committed a cardinal sin of asking another innocuous question We go to the water station. The jug is empty lol. So we go to the bar to notify them/order some shots. The girl at the bar was super nice to be fair and took care of the water. We still wanted to order drinks and after waiting at the bar for 5 minutes my friend politely put his hand in the air to signal someone that we still needed service. Totally innocuous gesture. As a server/bartender myself, I can confidently say that a client sometimes raising their hand is normal and harmless. The bartender in a hat and beard crashed out with "THAT IS RUDE!!? WOW, THAT IS SoOoO RUDE. YOU SEE ALL THESE PEOPLE?! YOU'RE NOT THE ONLY ONES AT THE BAR!!?" My friend and I looked at each other genuinely confused as to why he was so butthurt about it lmao I continued my call to Jesus with "Dear Eight Pound, Six Ounce, Newborn Infant Jesus, don't even know a word yet, just a little infant, so cuddly, but still omnipotent...." We had been here before when it was essentially a coffee shop that physically looked like a concrete bunker. The food was inconsistent, the employees weren't very enthusiastic, and we never left feeling satisfied. The new version is absolutely amazing and incredible. The space has been entirely and thoughtfully redesigned with a combination of seating options of comfortable booths, regular tables or at the bar. Overall I was so amazed and fascinated with the new design. They have installed an amazing sound system and unique lighting which make it even more enjoyable. Every member of the team is rightly enthusiastic about what they're doing, and they checked on us regularly. Although we were confused about getting seated when we came in, once we found our place, everything was beyond belief. The food was good, the cocktails were poured well, everyone was clearly enjoying themselves, and the overall atmosphere was just a perfect way to enjoy our afternoon. I'm so happy that we have another fantastic business in the North Loop neighborhood that is absolutely beautiful on so many levels. I can't wait to go back. read more

I went to Busty's for the first time last night and I was less than impressed. They seem to have a nice space, the decor was kitschy, and I dig the retro feel. It took 10 minutes before a server came by our table. Our friend who'd gotten there 30 minutes before us had ordered a snack that didn't arrive until 20 minutes after I had and he had to remind the server he'd ordered. 3 of the 4 of us asked for water's when the server offered them. Never got them. Then I tried ordering drinks. I ordered a black and tan first, they were out of Guinness. I asked if they had cider before asking for a snakebite instead and was told yes. Then she comes back, they were out of cider. So then I ask if they make a decent old fashioned. The server tells me it's hard to screw up an old fashioned to which I reply, "You'd be surprised. I've ordered a lot of them at a lot of bars and half have been awful. Usually super heavy on the bitters" She then asks what kind of bourbon I want and lists them off, I ask for Still Austin. She runs off, then comes right back. Guess what? They're out of still Austin. Now at this point I'm laughing. I'm not upset, I worked the industry for over 20 years. I get it. As I'm laughing I tell her what had happened because she wasn't the one to take my first 2 drink orders and I was amused, to which she responds "it's the holidays. We run out of shit. Do you want a drink or are you just going to keep complaining?" Now again, I worked the industry, I get that you run out of shit, but I was smiling laughing and being nice about it. I was fine until she chose to be rude. I tell her sorry, I'll take Bulleit. I walk outside to vent and not be there when this super rude server drops my drink. Then I get the old fashioned... shocker, it was all bitters. It was one of the worst old fashions I've ever put in my mouth. After the second sip I was done. Suffice it to say, I will not be back. I live too far away to make that drive to put up with that BS. Honestly, leaving 2 stars is generous. read more

I have been coming to this place since they opened recently. I really love this place! I love the people that work here and the whole atmosphere is usually wonderful and fun! I came in tonight. Monday July the 1st. I believe two bartenders, male and female, and a waitress were working, there was also another guy that I didn't get to interact with because he was working around them the whole time. Multiple times they all looked me in the eye and walked off instead of taking my order. It was busier for a Monday that expected so i'm absolutely trying to be understanding. Multiple times I had to wait at the bar for over 25 minutes to be served. Part of our food order was not put in. The vibe of the bartenders and waitress were one of arrogance and annoyance that they were asked to do their job. The waitress only came out to the back once, just before we left. We were there from 7:30 to 11:00. Fairly certain I was charged extra for my drinks but how can one tell with the way the card charges show up in your acct? I was polite and tipped 20%. If I see any of these three people working when I go next time, I'll just wait until they're not working. Very disappointing. read more

I don't typically leave Yelp reviews, but I had a negative experience with the bartenders. It was two women working on a Wednesday night and the bar was relatively empty. I ordered two non alcoholic drinks and tipped 50% on the first drink. I was with a handful of other people who are higher energy but not obnoxious or rude. One of the bartenders was saying extremely passive aggressive comments to some of them. When it was my turn to order, I didn't hear what she said so I asked her to repeat herself. She proceeded to talk to me in a condescending toddler voice and roll her eyes. She then said another passive aggressive comment to me after my drink was ordered. The bartenders then refused service to my friends and I the rest of the night. I do not think we did anything rude, so it was pretty off-putting that they were behaving that way. I won't be going back which is a total shame because their food is incredible and the ambiance of the bar itself is pretty cool! read more
