Maybe it's just me, but the world has gotten expensive and I care more about price than I used to, so this was too pricey for me, especially for lunch. But the quality and service were very good, so if you're OK with spending a bit, it might be fine. Friends tell me I should have just swiped left on a dating suggestion for someone who says "the man should pay" on first date. She had picked the venue, and when we sat down immediately bought a mixed drink (before noon) and an expensive entree without consulting me. Not that I think a woman needs to consult a man, but then again I don't think a man should always be the one to pay either. Was any of that the restaurant's fault? Not exactly. But the fact that the prices seemed more than I'd ordinarily want to pay for lunch didn't help that event be successful. Or maybe it did. Maybe she is just happy with a lot of first dates where the other person buys and then, like me, doesn't ask again. Personally, I would recommend other venues for a first date. On this visit, I'm compelled to agree with my fellow Yelpers and provide Burtons Grill & Bar with a four-star rating. We were seated immediately when we arrived around 11:45am and our waiter promptly provided us a brunch menu. We ordered: * Avocado BLT with French Fries $16.00 * Ham Benedict with Sweet Potato Fries $16.95 Total with tax and tip: $42 Our waiter was excellent. He promptly brought us water and refilled our glasses when needed. He cheerfully placed our order and about 15 minutes later our brunches arrived. The Eggs Benedict were nicely executed, and the Sweet Potato Fries were hot, crispy and tasty. It was a little light on the hollaindaise so I asked the waiter to bring us some extra, and he was happy to oblige. Suggestion to Burtons management: provide steak knives with this dish, it's very difficult to cut an English muffin with a bread knife! The Avocado BLT was excellent, with an abundance of bacon and tasty aioli sauce. I'd order this any time! The side of French Fries were good, but not as hot and crispy as the Sweet Potato Fries. Burton's has the best food and consistency in their dishes. I am gluten free so Burton's caters to gluten free people. It's always a treat to go there. The service is always good and the food to match. They have amazing short ribs and fillet mignon for a special occasion. For lunches I like the crab encrusted haddock or their Risotto dishes. Their chocolate deserts are epic and really good decaf coffee as well. Those are just a few of the dishes I have had there that stay constant and delicious. I made my first visit to a Burton's yesterday to celebrate a colleague leaving the area and overall I was impressed. The ambiance inside is very cozy, nice and dimmed lights. The booths were spacious and comfortable - made for four but with the possibility of squeezing in a couple more if absolutely necessary. A+ for the clean bathroom too! For my lunch I enjoyed a delightfully tangy old fashioned accompanied by a fish sandwich and fries. The fries were only average at best but the fish sandwich was excellent. Their loaf of bread with 3 dipping oils is fantastic by the way, definitely one of the very best I have had!!! I ordered a general tso bowl and a lobster and shrimp pasta to take home later for dinner. I was unpleasantly surprised to see that the bowl had one big slab of chicken laid atop the rice,quinoa and broccoli mixture instead of dicing up the chicken. The sauce on the chicken however was nice and complimented the bowl quite well. After cutting up the chicken myself I did enjoy the bowl. The shrimp and lobster pasta could have had a tad bit more sauce but it was also very good and worth its weight in gold. I've been to Burtons Grill more times than I can count, and for good reason! The food is consistently amazing, and I've tried so many items on the menu without ever having a bad meal. My all-time favorites are the steak and cheese spring rolls and the firecracker shrimp, but honestly, everything I've had has been fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. Generally food is good and service excellent. Beware of one thing. General practice is to calculate a tip on the pre-tax amount. However, the devices they use to take orders and accept payment calculate the tip on the after tax amount. I contacted them about this and was told "they're working on it ". I'm not a computer programmer but it strikes me that this would be a pretty easy fix. In any event if you agree that tips should be based on pre-tax amounts, select the "Custom " tip option when paying. read more

I have been to other burtons and had nothing but the best in service and meals. Never wrote a review, and absolutely hate doing a 1 stat, but... I went there about 10 days ago. Food was perfect. However a couple of mistakes can drop it to a 1 star. First of all in every burtons we have been to, aside from ordering drinks, the server normally asks if there are any food allergies. She brought our drinks and then took our order. I forgot to say that i will go into anaphylaxis upon coming in contact with tuna. I could not get the servers attention if i was waving a fluorescent flag while standing on the table. We did not see her again until our meals came. I told her that I made the mistake of not informing her about my allergy. Her response was "well you should of". My response with attitude was "all bertons service ask before taking it" she took it back with her own reluctant attitude. I am a simple person. I order the same thing, a ribeye medium rare. Again, she was as attentive as a slug. 30 minutes passed and it finally came with the allergy flag attached. I will still enjoy burtons, just not this location read more

I am dropping my review by a star ... I understand inflation is pretty much like a runaway train in the US right now ... but the prices here just seem like fine dining now for what is decent pub food. The fact that a draft beer is $11 ... some of the smaller IPAs are $9 ... means 2 draft beers with dinner will set you back $25+, with tip! That's just mind boggling to me and Manhattan Minetta Tavern type of prices! The biggest grrr here is it is always freezing cold here. We sit at the bar, and sometimes the dining room, and notice a lot of people wearing jackets while dining. I'd bet the temperature inside the restaurant is around 65 degrees. I don't really mind wearing a coat while dining but if I am paying $22 for a burger and $28 for a salad ... at least make it warm and cozy inside. One big pet peeve of mine ... if I ask to have an item made without something ... and I can't trust the restaurant to do it, that's an issue. Two times out of my last 4 visits, I have ordered a salad without red onions ... and they put red onions in it. Now, batting .500 is hall of famer level stuff in the game of baseball but when I am paying damn near $30 for a plate of lettuce and a chunk of meat, 50% accuracy is minor league stuff. Single A. I HATE red onions. If I have a bit of red onion, I get a cigarette type of taste in my mouth for the rest of the evening and my meal is spoiled. My option is to send the salad back, have them pull the meat out of the salad ... let the meat get cold while they make me new lettuce ... and then start eating while my date is halfway through her meal. If it was a $12 Chipotle bowl, okay ... but a $28 ($35 after tax and tip ...) salad??! Nah son. I actually picked a big pile of onion pieces out of my salad and put them on the side plate. When clearing the plates, the bartender totally knew what happened and didn't even apologize. Now that the negatives (we used to come here 4-5 times a month ... now we come once per month, if that due to screw ups and prices and the menu never changing) are out of the way ... I will list the positives. The portions are pretty big. In fact, if they cut the portions AND the prices by 20% I wouldn't complain. The $14 buffalo chicken dip is undoubtedly the best thing on the menu. Although not the healthiest thing in the world, it's really, really good. For two people the size is adequate. For one person its a meal. The salads are good but expensive. If you add protein, you are talking $25+ pre-tip. Know that some of the salads come with the dressings on the side. Others come LOADED with dressing. The chopped salad is smothered in a rather tasteless ranch dressing. It used to taste homemade, now it tastes like bagged dressing. All cream, no seasoning. Another fantastic menu item is the truffle fries. Don't skip these ... and worth the upgraded cost. The steaks and burgers are good. They should have a bank loan mortgage originator on site to help you finance a steak. But, they seem cooked well most times, although woefully underseasoned. If I'm paying $45 - $50 for a steak, it ain't going to be at Burtons. Finally, the overall vibe is hip and boutique hotel-like. It doesn't feel cavernous and industrial despite the exposed ductwork and cement floors, thanks to dark walls and nice artwork. Marble and tile accents give you more of a California urban vibe than a Massachusetts strip mall type of vibe. Maybe its a tiny bit dated ... kind of feels like a Kimpton Hotel from the 2014-15 era vs. 2022. But comfortable and clean aside from the fact the inside feels like a walk-in cooler. Will we come back? Yes. As often as before? No. When quality goes down and prices go up ... our loyalty goes out the window. Lots of regulars (and there are lots) might disagree. read more

What an exciting find! My sister and I randomly stopped here on the way back from an appointment. Based on the positive reviews we decided to try it. We split wings and two salads. Burton's does a great job providing great service paired with great food. Having been to multiple locations I've found regardless I can expect consistent quality wherever I have dined. This last occasion did a large take-out order for 7+ people. Online ordering was simple enough, and when coming for pick-up food was completed on time and exactly as specified. This is key especially when people in the party have food alergies. That last note may be key for certain people, Burton's does really well working with that. So don't shy away if people have certain restrictions, they do a great job of accomidating. read more

Tried this place for the first time. We both ordered their burgers and they were well flavoured and tasted good. However, the fries were a hit and miss where 30% were very oily or soggy. The downside to this place was a very low level of product knowledge (inferior training) and customer service, where staff automatically assumed you knew something without clarifying. We'll possibly try here again, but they need to prioritise product knowledge and customer service aspects, because they wouldn't deserve a third chance to make a 1st impression. read more

My girls and I do a monthly brunch/lunch meet up and we decided to go to Burton's for a change of scenery from our usual stomping grounds. We only had cocktails and appetizers and it was all pretty good. My review is about 2 weeks late so I forgot the name of the cocktail I had but it was really yummy and strong (not complaining about that at all) cause I was feeling it after a few sips. For food we ordered truffle fries, wings and steak and cheese spring rolls. Those spring rolls were EVERYTHING! I HIGHLY recommend giving them a try if you ever end up going to this restaurant. The truffle fries were really good too and so were the wings but without a doubt the spring rolls were the star of the show. The restaurant itself is nice and clean, it wasn't too packed when we went which was good and our waitress was very friendly, she even kindly took some group pics for us.
