The tasting room was surprisingly unbusy this morning, so it surprised us when we were still asked to squeeze into a small tasting space along the bar (the boys ended up standing behind us). We were taken through five wines with a good variety of white and red. We had a surprise sixth. I bought a bottle of their Athene, which wasn't even one we tasted--I just know I like it! Fair prices for the wines but this visit was just average; it didn't blow anyone away.

We ended up venturing out to Burrowing Owl 2x while on our trip to Osoyoos The first time was with my wife and my brother and sister in-laws The second was with my wife and my father in-law and my wife's uncle The winery is HUGE Vast acres of different grapes cover the land The winery also moonlights as a resort where you can stay at the guest rooms they have They have a pool are as well where you can swim and lounge out There is a restaurant there which has menu fit for a winery A bit on the pricy side but it's what you get when dining at such a place The highlight for me was the observation deck From there you can get an amazing view of the winery, getting a good look at the sprawl of grapevines the cover the land You can also venture lower into where they produce the wine Unfortunately if you get to the bottom, the area was closed off due to construction Myself along with my brother and sister-in-law ended up doing a wine tasting the first time we were there There is a set menu of 5 wines they provide you The two whites you get are the Pinot Gris and Chardonnay The Gris was definitely my fav of the two Chardonnay really wasn't for me due to the buttery taste I got from it The three reds we got were the Pinot Noir, the Merlot and the Athene I really liked the merlot as it had a really nice light taste to it and I'm not really a red wine drinker I also like the hybrid Athene which was unique We got thrown in at the end of the session a nice sweet port wine More on the sweet side but super yummy My father in-law and my wife's uncle even enjoyed their tasting as well when we went again with them, and they are Italian so you know they are about their vino The servers were that did the wine tastings were really good and gave us extensive info on the wines we were tasting Loved that the $5 tasting fee went to the Burrowing Owl Conservation Society which one of my sister in-law's who is animal lover appreciated Lots of neat souvenirs to bring back Would definitely recommend this place a must see winery in the region

Beautiful restaurant with a view. I enjoyed a pasta carbonara and my wife and I asparagus risotto. Service was friendly and responsive. I recommend the tasting room also and climbing up the tower to see the view even better. There is lodging available and EV charging stations for Tesla and non-Tesla too.

You have to put this winery on your must sees! And, make sure you eat at their restaurant. The food and views are amazing. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable as well. All of the staff are friendly and engaging. I absolutely love it here!

What a great experience for us party of 4. It was our first time, but not the last . Wine tasting was great considering all wines, red and white, are delicious with excellent taste . Besides we had lunch at its restaurant and such a great menu and great choices in the menu. Rachael gave us a friendly and very professional service. Thumbs up for BOEW.

We all loved our Cauliflower soup, Prawn barley "risotto", and Zucchini spinach quiche while sipping their 2015 Pinot noir ... delicious! Wonderful service as we seated outdoors!

Burrowing Owl, our 8th winery, was our last stop of the day. It was a lovely winery, and I've heard good things about the wine (it is my co-worker's favourite winery, which is why I wanted to stop here). But perhaps because I was tired and tipsy after a full day of wine tasting, I wasn't so into the wines that I sampled. There was nothing wrong with the wine, but nothing stood out. Next time I am in the Okanagan, if I visit Burrowing Owl, I will be sure not to do so after a long day of drinking. The tasting fee for four samples is $3, and proceeds go towards the conservation of burrowing owls. [Yelp collections: Wine Time!]

One of my favorite stops in Oosoyos, mainly because of the reds we sampled in the tasting room. All the money (just $3) from the tasting here goes to a nonprofit owl conservation society that supports the namesake burrowing owls that seem to return to the area in smaller numbers each year. Imagine being the one bird of prey that decides to burrow into abandoned gopher holes rather than to make a nest up high in the trees, making this baby bird of prey frequently prey itself, as owlets are gobbled up by larger predators, hawks, foxes, coyotes, larger eagles. Out of all the winery restaurants we tried in Okanagan (just a few honestly) we found this one to be the most reliable food-wise and enjoyed our meal here, from wines to starters to main courses (Skip their sandwiches though.) The wine was nice and drinkable, particularly their Athene blend, their Syrah & library Syrah.

The entire campus here is amazing! Smack in the middle of sprawling vineyards sits this place of wonder! Our sommelier was excellent in describing what we were thinking and detailing out each wine and what we should be expecting. Perfect for beginners and advid wine drinkers alike! Tasting fees are also donated to help save Burrowing Owls! The facility itself is great! Lots of great views of the vineyards as well as a tower 360 degree view of the entire plantation. A must see! Definitely recommend and will be back!

Beautiful winery surrounded by estate vineyards. Knowledgeable staff made for an interesting wine tasting experience. The surrounding property also has lodging & a world class restaurant.

fantsastic views and wine...special mention ti the pinot gris! for only $3 ...you can sample up to 4 wines...with proceeds all going to save the owls. sonora dining room gives you excellent views of the valley below! wine prices are more reasonable than mission hill! only drawback, the winery is perched right in the middle of nowhere... but the winery offers accomodations and a good pool with tranquil settings! perfect for a retreat!! cheers

Loved the Burrowing Owl. Amazing experience. Friendly staff. Tasty wine. Spectacular views. We enjoyed a hot summers day sipping and tasting the lovely foods prepared for us. Must try.

When I first tried Burrowing Owl's Gerwertztraminer several months ago, I became an instant fan of gerwertztraminers. Last night I enjoyed their gerwertztraminer at their restaurant. Today, we returned to the wine shop. Unfortunately, they did not have any gerwertztraminers available, but we tasted three other wines that they had available. We chose the 2006 chardonnay. I can't wait to open the bottle! If you are looking for an off season getaway (through Dec. 15), call Burrowing Owl about their Guest House. They have 10 guest rooms and one penthouse. For $119/person ($127.50 on weekends), stay at the Guest House and get breakfast and a 3-course dinner at their Sonora Room Restaurant.

Ladies in my party had cocktails at Workshop Spirits, thinking they were great and refreshing. We all gathered for food at Ward's. We had the nachos and Potato Confit Flatbread - both were super good, including the cilantro crema of the nachos. The peach Bellini machine wasn't ready when we first arrived, but by the end it was available to give us testers and we might come back just for those. TIP: drinks can only be consumed in the patio of the establishment you're buying from, but food can be delivered to any of those patios. Centre seating is table service by Ward's that allows you a taste of beverages from any of the vendors. Also, the water features around the center are pet (and people) friendly for cooling off on a hot day. The outdoor environment, even on a hot day, was a nice setting for appreciating the surrounding area. Also enjoyed the acknowledgment of First Nations' people who first inhabited the area (like all good Canadian establishments).

Platinum Bench is a great place to grab fresh artisan bread for your breakfast. Come early for it because it SELLS OUT. However, I would be conscious of how much you want to order and when you order. Platinum's bread is hot out of the oven, with a crunchy crust, pillowy soft inside, with the right texture of chewiness. We tried 4 types of bread, and overall, I would recommend: - Asiago Cheese - Gorgonzola & Fig Preserves The smell of the bread is amazing, and the taste delivers with the right amount of sweet/savory balance between the cheeses + fruit. I would've wanted more/bigger pieces of fig preserves or pear in the bread, but that's just my personal preference. The only thing I wasn't too impressed with was the service. In any type of food service, I expect kindness, welcoming attitudes, and compassion. However, the lady who was there at the time was not friendly and had an overbearing attitude which was a major disappointment and turnoff for me. Aside from the poor service, some improvements I would suggest to the overall physical environment include: A. Have a bigger sign that states each type of artisan bread you sell - this will allow people to see the options you offer. This will help avoid huge clumps of people hovering at one place, and allow customers know what they want to order ahead of time. B. Have a sign that specifically states where the line for bread is, and where the line for wine tasting is. It was quite confusing and not well marked. C. Have signs that states which parking spots are reserved for wine tours vs private cars. Overall, not bad. Don't think I'll be going back to try out their actual winery experience, but if you are wine-hopping around the area, I think dropping by for their artisan bread can be worth it.
