Fantastic! I would recommend this winery. The staff were amazing for our i expectant visit. I wish I got names, but there were 2 men and a lady. Professional, nice & knowledge was amazing. We even sat and ate at the bistro! Omg the garlic parm bites are a must! The pizza and chicken wrap were out of this world. The ladies working at the bistro were amazing and went out of their way! I highly recommend this place. Baby friendly Unfortunately not dog friendly.

My girlfriend and I were on vacation through Okanagan wine country. Over six days, we visited sixty wineries. You can follow our various locations with this disclaimer. That's sixty wineries, not an exaggeration. What's the biggest lesson to take back from it? For one, don't feel pressured to buy wine from every winery, because you end up trying to squeeze almost a hundred bottles into a tiny Nissan versa note. Once you include the boxes we had shipped, it ended up being 120 bottles. Now that the Wines of BC department of Save On is found basically across the province, there is no reason to purchase outside of those unique bottles found only at the wineries. We don't regret our purchases; they just made transportation rather difficult. I will admit not having much expectations from Desert Hills. I had never heard of it before the pre-planning stage of our wine trip. By the end of our visit, it was the only winery we had secured a wine subscription from. That says something. It helped that Desert Hills was the only with subscription option we found appealing. It also helped that the wines being offered were all amazing. But back to the location, Desert Hills appears quite reserved, with only its picturesque vineyards to add any grandiosity. Tanned ceramic roof tiles are the only mark of pageantry amongst the concrete yards and garage doors. Inside, you are welcomed by an immense tasting room and a very large and lethargic dog that only moved only stealthily position itself in such a way as to trip people when they weren't looking. The memorable host greeted us and proceed to blow us away with his charisma and knowledge of winemaking. A consummate salesman, he expertly poured, swirled, and extoled the virtues of his collection. We swallowed everything, words and wine. The gamay was amazing, the unoaked chardonnay was sublime, and the port sold me with the first smell. Ordering a box would have been an easy sell by that point, especially considering it included free shipping with only a six-bottle minimum. However, the aspect of the wine club I liked the most was that we could adjust our order before it gets shipped out--you're not stuck with what they decide to send you. No one else on our journey pitched it so well. Desert Hills was the last one we visited on our first day, and I'm happy to report we weren't getting bored of the experience. When asked which wineries I loved the most on my journey, I admit coming back to Silver Sage with my girlfriend stating Kraze Legz. But we both agree that Desert Hills falls in the top five, as well as the one we often return to when praising the entire region. It doesn't have a winery built to resemble a wild west saloon; it doesn't have bell towers or guided tours riding the back of pack mules. It has good wine with good service; what more can one ask for?

With vendors from local wineries and eateries, there will be something here for everyone in your crew. Grabbed a beer flight at Neighborhood Brewing - standouts were the Lime Lager and IPA. Ladies in my party had cocktails at Workshop Spirits, thinking they were great and refreshing. We all gathered for food at Ward's. We had the nachos and Potato Confit Flatbread - both were super good, including the cilantro crema of the nachos. The peach Bellini machine wasn't ready when we first arrived, but by the end it was available to give us testers and we might come back just for those. TIP: drinks can only be consumed in the patio of the establishment you're buying from, but food can be delivered to any of those patios. Centre seating is table service by Ward's that allows you a taste of beverages from any of the vendors. Also, the water features around the center are pet (and people) friendly for cooling off on a hot day. The outdoor environment, even on a hot day, was a nice setting for appreciating the surrounding area. Also enjoyed the acknowledgment of First Nations' people who first inhabited the area (like all good Canadian establishments).

The wine tasting was hosted by the hilarious Elena, the owner of the winery. The audience could not stop laughing as if we were all at a comedy show. She gave explanation of each wine we tasted while her partner poured the samples. In total, we were able to taste 12 out of the 13 wines that the winery produced. We started on white wines, moved onto reds, and finished with dessert wines. Honestly, everything was absolutely delicious. If I lived closer, I would be here regularly and store a bunch of their bottles in my pantry. On this trip, I bought a bottle each of the 2022 Sage Grand Reserve, 202 The Pearle, 2020 Blueberry, and 2022 The Flame. At another time my friend was still drinking her wine when a different wine was added to the glass.

Our first year, I went with the steak (which was excellent), and most of our group ordered the seafood linguine and sablefish. But then... one brave soul in our party ordered the grilled cheese with prosciutto and soup. Naturally, we teased him -- who orders a grilled cheese at a place like this? Well, the joke was on us. He had struck gold. That grilled cheese prosciutto sandwich was next-level. Ever since, it's been the reason we come back year after year. Rich, savory, perfectly crisped -- it's comfort food with class. I genuinely look forward to it all year and savor every bite. Pro tip: pair it with a chilled glass of Gewürztraminer. It's an unexpectedly perfect combo that turns a humble sandwich into an unforgettable dining experience. Five stars -- not just for the food, but for the memories this place has helped create.

Platinum Bench is a great place to grab fresh artisan bread for your breakfast. Come early for it because it SELLS OUT. However, I would be conscious of how much you want to order and when you order. Platinum's bread is hot out of the oven, with a crunchy crust, pillowy soft inside, with the right texture of chewiness. We tried 4 types of bread, and overall, I would recommend: - Asiago Cheese - Gorgonzola & Fig Preserves The smell of the bread is amazing, and the taste delivers with the right amount of sweet/savory balance between the cheeses + fruit. I would've wanted more/bigger pieces of fig preserves or pear in the bread, but that's just my personal preference. The only thing I wasn't too impressed with was the service. In any type of food service, I expect kindness, welcoming attitudes, and compassion. However, the lady who was there at the time was not friendly and had an overbearing attitude which was a major disappointment and turnoff for me. Aside from the poor service, some improvements I would suggest to the overall physical environment include: A. Have a bigger sign that states each type of artisan bread you sell - this will allow people to see the options you offer. This will help avoid huge clumps of people hovering at one place, and allow customers know what they want to order ahead of time. B. Have a sign that specifically states where the line for bread is, and where the line for wine tasting is. It was quite confusing and not well marked. C. Have signs that states which parking spots are reserved for wine tours vs private cars. Overall, not bad. Don't think I'll be going back to try out their actual winery experience, but if you are wine-hopping around the area, I think dropping by for their artisan bread can be worth it.
