We enjoyed our first (of I'm sure what will be many) visit to this boutique winery today. If you're quickly scanning reviews looking for places to stop just bookmark this winery now and go - no need to read on.
A lovely little vineyard situated on the east slope of the valley just north of Oliver. The tasting room and proprietors home is at the highest point with lovely views if the vineyards and surrounding mountains. The tasting room is quaint and comfortable with a nice patio and picnic area. We cycled over from the town of Oliver and found the ride easy and enjoyable.
Prior to visiting I had checked out their website which I recommend, it's a neat story of how they came to be. We met Ted, the proprietor today and our wine host was Bob, both very nice gentlemen - welcoming and informative.
They offer free tastings, which in a land of overpriced tastings, is such a refreshing change. Today they had 7 wines, and each one of them was unique and delicious - it is not often (possibly ever) we walk away from a tasting room having enjoyed all the wines. In 4 years of visiting the south Okanagan we've never purchased a case at one place.... here we purchased a case and then some without blinking an eye. So yes, we like their wines - a lot.
Our favorites? Description disclaimer: we are not professional wine tasters! Merlot (very smooth and easy to drink), Pinot Gris (fresh and smooth, best we've had in the valley), Splash (Pinot Gris, Geurtz and Viognier mix - delicious anytime wine!), Malbec Rose (interesting and different story about how it came to be, and also delicious!) and the Corner Stone (Bordeaux style, rich and full bodied).
Go.... Try.... Enjoy....
Oh, and say hi to Charlie he's their winery dog (golden retriever I think) and greeter extraordinaire! :) read more
