After a number of years I paid Burritos Victoria another visit. Here is what I experienced. The restaurant serves a lot of traditional northern (meat heavy) Mexican cuisine, i.e., lengua, barbacoa, picadillo, carne asada, milanesa, chicharron, and burgers. They do not serve a lot of the New Mex specialties. Inside the restaurant is fairly roomy, clean, and very colorful. It was at first a little confusing as to whether one was to order at the checkout counter on the side opposite the entry or take a table and wait for a waitress. I was told to just take a table. Within a few moments a very pleasant and efficient waitress arrived with a basket of tortilla chips and a menu. She seemed to be handling the front of the house by herself, but she did a great job. The service, unlike years ago, was really good. I ordered two burritos...one a chile Colorado burrito smothered in a red sauce and a barbacoa burrito. Also ordered a soft drink which I was later shocked to find out they charged me around four and a half bucks for!!! Ouch. The prices otherwise seemed pretty reasonable. The food took about ten or twelve minutes to arrive at my table. I spent the time waiting for it availing myself of some salsas at their salsa and condiment station. I sampled three salsas and all were quite good, but the one that was a light green and creamy (probably with avocado?) was particularly flavorful. Rate the salsas a B+ but the green creamy one an "A." The tortilla chips were upper drawer. Rate them a B+. The burrito with chile Colorado had a lot of tender pork chunks and a bit of potato in it. The taste of the chile and the red sauce was a bit different than the usual chile con carne found around town. It was good but not what I would call exceptional. Rate the chile Colorado burrito a B+. The barbacoa burrito was filled with real CHEEK MEAT. It was flavorful and not too fatty. It was presented wrapped in foil. Rate this burrito a "B" meaning good but not great. After I finished my meal the waitress brought my bill and I walked to the checkout counter to cash out. Overall, if you go to Burritos Victoria you'll find a real Mexican-Hispanic environment, a colorful atmosphere, a clean and orderly restaurant with a large menu and overall good food at a reasonable price. The young lady waiting tables this day was terrific. Give today's total dining experience around FOUR STARS...meaning quite good for a casual restaurant. read more

We decided to go for burritos today. We have lived here for almost eleven years and this was our time to dine at Burritos Victoria. We were surprised at the interior decor and the amount of dining space. My wife had the spinach quesadilla with a side salad and I had a carne asada burrito smothered in their Tex-Mex sauce (creamy green Chile). Everything was very good. Wow. $9.20 for a mega burrito! You can't beat that. My mistake was ordering chicharrones as the meat filling. I like chicharrones but not when it's smothered with a bunch of sauces and sour cream that it makes the burrito soggy. I like it crispy to the bite. I had a hard time eating it because the texture of the soggy ness which reminded me of tripe. otherwise, love the other qualities inside the burrito, next time I would choose a different type of meat. It could have fed 4 people. It was definitely the size of my legs. I am not giving up on this place. The rating is more on the chicharrones burrito. What a varied menu! Fried chicken and waffles, burgers, even hot dogs done up Mexican! Breakfast stuffs like pancakes, french toast, breakfast burritos. They do a pretty damn good Chicos Tacos imitation too. The ahogadas were sooooo close. But not quite. This place was on our radar before the pandemic and so many places closed. Once we started getting back out to pick up through the drive thru or curbside we hit the menu hard. Beef fajitas were almost shredded steak meat grilled with onion and green peppers. But there is enough to share actually. You get one huge flour tortilla. The entree comes with rice and beans - both alright. Ya also get a side. I took the Caldo De Res. It was fantastic! One of the best I have had. I need a larger serving next time. Skip the 6 small tacos. We thought we'd get a nice variety and idea about their tacos. None were worth the write up. They got supper soggy and fell apart before we could even open the lid on the take out box. The chicharron taco was just about the worst thing texture wise I have ever put in my mouth. Wife ordered a bistec en verde gordita and was pretty disappointed. So, yay on the caldo, the fajitas and a half yay the ahogadas. We'll be back to try the burritos and the fried chicken! read more

If this is your first time here be aware that the drive through menu is a limited selection of their actual menu. You have to go inside if you want to order something other than a burrito. Unless you looked up the menu in advance. I thought the burritos looked pretty good until I opened them up and saw they were 90% beans. I couldn't tell if there was any cheese in my chile con queso burrito because everything was a brown bean mess and that's all I could taste. We came on a whim, and the bright colorful interior and friendly staff were a wonderful surprise on what was a tough day for us. The tex mex sauce is a lovely green Chile cream sauce. The salsa had a nice kick. And the fideo (they called it something else,but it's an available side) was excellent. If you're not familiar, it's a sort of broth based middle soup, but really flavorful. I got the chimichangas and loved them so much we came back. 2nd time got the bean and cheese burrito and it was also good. Family members ordered the quesadillas and said they were wonderful. My father ordered green Chile chicken enchiladas and enjoyed them. He thought the chicken was a little dry, but with the sauce and fried egg on top, I it was better than we can find in Texas! I had the brisket burrito with red sauce...nice spice and the potatoes inside were a pleasant surprise. I stuffed mine with some extras from the salsa bar. Free chips that come with the salsa bar which includes: limes, pico, jalapeños, cilantro, and lettuce. I had a water with lime. All delicious by the way. Bill comes.....4 BUCKS!!!! Holy cow!! I've been here a few times for breakfast when staying overnight in Las Cruces on my way to Arizona. Breakfast menu is really good, standout is the chrorizo and eggs plate. I am an El Pasoian and found that they served flautas similar to Chicos. I was ecstatic to know they had a salsa bar. Their array of salsa was good. The normal salsa tasted like spoiled tomatoes. The pico was not spicy but the green sauce was good. We were served the crumbs of all chips and our drinks. Never once were we asked if we wanted refills. Upon getting our food, I did not get what I ordered and the cheese was molded on the flautas. The mold on the cheese was the size of a dime. It was returned at the front with a request for no replacement. This in fact made me nauseated. They did comp our meal and were highly apologetic therefore a rating of 2 was given. read more
