I stopped in at Paco's Tacos food truck today as I was kind of intrigued after checking the reviews. Here is what I found: the food truck is on a corner of Solano and Idaho. There is hardly any parking to speak of. A couple of picnic tables are present for those who wish to eat there and not take the food away. The menu is kind of eclectic...but mostly traditional Mexican as opposed to New Mex food. The prices are quite reasonable and you do get a good bit of food for the money. The folks running the operation were very pleasant and efficient. My food was ready and bagged up in about eight minutes. I ordered the quesabirria tacos and an al pastor burrito. The corn taco shells were not greasy and had a nice flavor. The meat was tender but a bit dry and the flavor was so-so. The consome was a bit weak and flavorless. The consome rates about a B- but the tacos themselves a B to B+. These were clearly not the best quesabirria tacos around town but they were pretty good. Worth the money. The al pastor burrito was a little different in that the tortilla was warmed on the grill and was a bit crispy. This gave the tortilla a nice flavor. The al pastor itself was a bit dry (like the taco meat) but tender and with a good flavor. The burrito was a little under-sized, but it was pretty much all meat with no cheap fillers, i.e., beans or rice or potato. . Rate the burrito a B. It was good but not exceptional. Again, it was well worth the $6.00 cost.
Rate the overall dining experience...since there hardly is one...about three stars, but the food quality is closer to THREE-AND-THREE-QUARTER STARS...meaning well above average. If you are looking at takeout, give it a try. read more
