What better than eating at a historical building? Delicious food, exotic animals. This place has everything needed for a good time. Passed by Mesilla and definitely had to make a stop here for lunch. It's located in a historical 18th century stagecoach station and has all the charm. Once you walk in there are shops on either side before you reach the restaurant itself. Be sure to take a look at the jewelry store and the general store for chili goodies. Service is warm and prompt Love the complimentary chips and salsa that they brought out right away. Very efficient! I had the enchilada plate which was so delicious. Portions are HUGE. For 16 dollars this was both my lunch and dinner for the day which was a steal. Not to mention super delicious as well. Sauce is so tasty. The Mexican slaw was my second favorite item on the plate. Overall a great stop if you're in the area. Must visit!

History stop! Go here if you want to see this remaining post/ change stop on the Butterfield Trail from the 1800s. It had since been turned into a restaurant/bar. It is well known, so make a reservation if you can. You will also find yourself waiting a bit at the front to be sat, at your table for your server, and for your food/drink to arrive so plan accordingly. This last visit, we sat in the bar and had a margarita. The jalapeño and cucumber margarita was accompanied by a rim of honey and crushed pecans. This was by far an amazing experience for my mouth! Great place, great history! Be sure to check it out when you're in historical Mesilla!

Great food, fast and friendly service. Portions matched pricing. Awesome history to this building, as well as the surrounding square and neighborhood. The square was decorated for Christmas.

We were in town for the Bataan. We called once we had finished the event to make a reservation for our party of 3 for 6pm. We were greeted by Edd (the manager on duty) who sat us immediately. Our server was friendly and Edd went above and beyond to make sure that our experience was enjoyable, despite him having a rough week (which we learned while talking to him). He brought us an order of sopapillas to end our wonderful meal. The food was fresh and delicious and service was top notch. 10/10 experience.

The dining rooms were totally decked out for Christmas and looked gorgeous! Our waitress was very attentive. The margaritas were so yummy. The nachos were huge and could easily be shared as a dinner. Thankfully the chile rellenos were easy to eat with braces. The Cole slaw was unexpected and so delicious.

In the heart of little historic downtown square this is a beautiful resturant that is so big and great for groups and parties. Maxed out in beautiful Mexican decor, a jewlery store and a bird cages filled with parrots all inside. The staff was super friendly and inviting. The black barrel margarita was delicious, New Mexico IPA hit the spot. Chips and salsa were provided to the table and were ok, salsa was lacking a bit in flavor but acceptable. I order shrimp tacos the shrimp and drizzle was good but the tortilla was store bought, hard and flavorless, no slaw and the rice and beans were ok but rice was a little on the dry crunchy side. With all this being said, I still would visit again without hesitation probably just for drinks and ambience because it is so pretty and inviting. Parking right now is a bit tricky and at this time there is construction in the area.

Cam here for Saturday lunch, we brought our dog with us, and we got to sit on the lovely patio, our food was amazing the steak was to die for! Super soft and flavorful! Really enjoyed this place super quick service and the patio was the best place to relax. Lots of people came and checked on us, coming back here for the steak!

Drove 400 miles for our awesome supper on Monday night! When we parked we wondered if we'd be able to be seated as the parking area was very crowded & a lot of people were walking in. We entered and to our surprise we were seated right away for our 2nd visit! Our server, Paul was great & attentive! We shared the Shrimp cocktail (cerviche) & the 3 chicken tacos with beans & rice. He had a beer & I had a margarita! Both great! And, an order of 5 Cinnamon Churros. We asked if we could get 2 instead of the 5 and Paul took the time to ask the kitchen if that would be possible since we were driving through to Fort Worth. We wrapped up the 3 remaining churros & had heated up in the air fryer the next evening at our son's....They were just as great a day later... This place is decorated so cute for Christmas with the 'dining nooks & crannies'! Will be back next week Monday when we head back to Phoenix!! And, we will pick up some of that awesome salsa and another great meal!

We love La posta , not just for the history but the food and ambience! We've brought friends and family from California to this place and they always bring it up when they go back home . The place is so big inside and each room is decorated with a different theme you can never get bored of this place. The parrots and fish in the front are always a favorite. Super cute patio and jewelry shop that closes around 7. Great for parties and family fun

A local took us here. Great decor and quiet atmosphere. We got there in time for brunch. Hubby had Chile Rancheros. Chili con queso was wonderful. I had fajita beef salad. It had wonderful fresh veggies and meat was flavorful. We had James as our server and he kept our tea refilled and was very pleasant

We came here because I'd read in several places that it's a must-try if you're in the El Paso area (it's about 40 minutes away). We decided to make the trip and check out the village it's located in--which turned out to be a really nice spot to explore! The decor and vibe of the restaurant were definitely on point. They even had macaws and parrots in cages, which added a fun touch while waiting for our table. The service was also friendly and attentive overall. However, one downside was that our server wasn't writing our order down. While that's fine if you can remember everything, unfortunately, a few items were missed. Thankfully, we weren't charged for those, so it wasn't a big issue. As for the food, some dishes were really good, but others were just okay. Personally, I'd recommend visiting the village itself, but I wouldn't say the restaurant is a must-try. Worth checking out for the ambiance and experience.

Wow this Mexican restaurant definitely lives up to its name. Very big, old, spread out, nice nice restaurant. Definitely be back. Service was very good hardly any wait. The fried ice cream is epic!!

The service and atmosphere were good, but we were a bit disappointed with the food. I had the enchiladas which were a bit soggy.

Our waiter, Chase, quickly came to our table to offer us drinks. Chase was very attentive throughout the entire meal. He brought our food out quickly and checked on us as we ate to ensure we were not lacking anything. Excellent service!! Now for the food... The small bowl of chips didn't have a chance to empty before Chase brought another bowl (without us having to ask). We loved the salsa bar where we were able to select the salsas that we wanted to try. We chose the traditional, jalapeño and tomatillo, pico de galio, and chipotle. We agreed that all of them were delicious. My husband had the fish tacos. The serving size was great!! He would have preferred grilled fish rather than the breaded and fried fish; but all-in-all he said it was good. (For non-fish eaters like myself, the fish smell was quite strong and overpowered the smells of the rest of our meals). My daughter got the Monster build your own burrito with chicken. She loved it and said the grilled chicken was delicious!!! My daughter's boyfriend had the chicken enchiladas Christmas (green and red sauces for those who may not be familiar). He loved it! Like my daughter, he too enjoyed the grilled chicken that came in his enchiladas. I had the cheese enchiladas Christmas with 2 fried eggs and sauce on the side. The sauces were both delicious!!!! Everyone at the table enjoyed tasting the green sauce which had a creamy and cheesy consistency with the perfect amount of green chilies and heat. The red sauce was a traditional New Mexico red enchilada sauce with exactly the right amount of heat. My single complaint about my meal is that I could have counted the number of cheese shred pieces between each tortilla of the enchiladas. All of us liked the refried beans and Spanish rice that came with our meals.

I'd recommend the red one over the green - the pork tamale was the best item, followed by the enchilada. I didn't care for the flauta, which felt overcooked and dry. Overall enjoyed my experience.

They are simply magic here both in terms of flavor complexity and texture. Their texture here is truly the best. I literally was licking the plate at the end of each of these. I tried all four of their moles on three different occasions and all are very complex, rich, creamy and satisfying. -Mole Poblano. "A not so sweet ajillo pepper mole sauce with traditional ingredients and a touch of Oaxaca chocolate." This was the first we tried here and what brought us back for more. -Mancha Manteles mole: This mole is described on their menu as: "Sweet pineapple, red apples, fried plantain and a wonderful choice of spices make this mole a great and unique experience". This mole like their other ones came out piping hot, creamy, thick, complex and delicious. -Mole Negro: Chichilo pepper and tomatillo mole sauce with a smoky taste and a hint of ash. -Mole Verde o Pipian. Toasted pumpkin seeds and tomatillo mole sauce with a hint of hoja santa (root beer plant) My husband and I get their enmoladas stuffed with vegetables and get double serving of the black beans (rice has chicken stock so we avoid it to keep the meal vegan/ vegetarian). The plates are always piping hot and soooo yummy. When they have all four moles available they offer a sampler as well. I am looking forward to doing that sometime and compare them side by side now after we tried them all as a meal. I really love the ambiance out on the peaceful patio and there's cover form the sun.
