Very, Very Happy to have discovered this place !! Where else are you going to find food from Myanmar? It's hard to describe the dishes because the cuisine is distinct, but it reminds me a little of Malaysian, Laotian, Thai, and maybe even some Vietnamese. All three of the dishes I got were delicious but I was most surprised by the Red Curry Shan Tofu. It tastes nothing like Thai Red Curry, definitely its own thing. Service and ambiance were great , but go there for the food. If you want to try something new, this place is perfect. I haven't been this excited since the first time I had Laotian food.
If you've never had Burmese food, you should try it! This was my first time eating at this place, and it did not disappoint. I was craving the fermented tea salad. The tea gives the dressing a very distinct and delicious flavor. Then they add several yummy toppings over the lettuce. I wanted an entree too, so I ended up with the eggplant garlic with beef, and a side of rice. It was so good. I took it to-go and the staff was very nice. The place looked clean and they have tables outside. Unfortunately, no one else was in there. I hope I was just earlier than the dinner crowd, because this place is good, and I want them to stay open.
Excellent food and service - a real gem in Rancho Bernardo! My favorite meal in the area when I last visited, these well-executed Burmese dishes are made and served with love and pride. Fiery beef tofu and coconut curry chicken soup were standout versions of dishes I've had many times.
No disappointment for all the dishes I had tried over the 4 times I have been here. Love the Heavy taste with unique Burmese flavor. Will definitely keep coming back to try all their menu items

Came here because tea leaf salad was on the menu. It was tasty, but not really a traditional tea leaf salad -- the dressing was made with fermented tea leaves, but otherwise it felt more like a regular salad. Still good though, and I'd order it again. The burmese pork curry was good, but the garlic noodles could have used a lot more garlic. The place is in the middle of a strip mall with plenty of parking. Brightly painted and clean interiors cozy and homey. If you are near it's worth checking out for a quick meal, but not ideal it you're looking for authentic burmese dishes.
Good food, not a lot of selection on the menu which generally makes for better quality. I'm generally pretty selective but everything we had was very good quality. Service was not so great, It wasn't crowded (less than 4 tables) and service could be better. The three or four ladies were more interested in their own conversations than customers (my reason for 4 stars). The pineapple fried rice had three pieces of pineapple . Now the tofu salad was a great combo with tofu, and shredded cabbage which makes for a very interesting texture. We will definitely be going back.
My fiancé and I have eaten Burma Place before since his brother loves to eat here; we get catering from time to time so I'm familiar with their food. This will be the first time we've eaten at the restaurant! This place has a busy parking lot considering it shares the lot with numerous business. Come early to find parking! Upon walking in, it showed a clean environment and energetic atmosphere. There were two ladies working the front, with bubbly, energetic personalities that I couldn't help but smile at! They made everyone feel welcome with their friendliness. They knew their reoccurring customers by name and everyone would personally say goodbye to them. It solidified the idea that this place had excellent customer service. We had told them we would sit early, to wait for our friends, and they didn't give it a second thought. I ordered an IPA and my partner had their Singha Beer while we waited. (I took picture of an updated menu.) We ordered a small bite, palata with chicken curry, while we waited. It was perfectly crispy. The curry wasn't spicy and the chicken was fatty! We ate it entirely within 10 minutes. When our friends arrived, we ordered several dishes: garlic eggplant, chicken curry, pumpkin curry, broccoli garlic, Burma chicken, palatas, and coconut rice. I don't think words can describe how delicious everything was. Nothing was too spicy nor overly seasoned. Everything was just right and super savory. The coconut rice was divine and their Burma chicken was crunchy and sweet! We finished the evening with fried bananas and ice cream. It's not every day that food leaves me speechless. I felt comfortable sitting there, enjoying my food, conversing with my loved ones. These ladies truly served well and the food has exceptional quality. I will definitely be back!
The rainbow salad or tea leaf salad are a must order to start your meal! Everything on their menu is flavorful, as there hasn't been anything I've tried that wasn't excellent. They have friendly and quick service. Usually there are a few tables that are empty so no need to wait on a weeknight. I'm happy to see that they have more customers than before. I have never had Burmese food before and this is the only place I've found in all of southern California, all of California for that matter. What an impression it had made on me. Their vegetarian menu is extensive! They have so many yummy choices! I ended up getting the mango salad, the chili stir fried noodle with beef (i had the chow mein noodle replaced with flat egg noodle), the Burmese sausages, and the star of the show for me, the palata with curry dip, i chose the curry with chicken. The fluffy roti bread was one of the best bread I've had in the same group as naan. This roti bread was savory and soft and chewy and just altogether quite wonderful. The curry it came with was thick and robust in flavor. This appetizer is an absolute delight. I enjoyed the chili stir fried noodles also as the beef was tender, infused with deep flavor and completed this dish. The Burmese sausage lacked in flavor for me. These sausages were on the sweeter side. Just not my flavor profile. I later went to Spicy Lao Kitchen and ordered lao sausages. Now thats a sausage. It was amazing! The mango salad could be infused with more mango flavor. This salad was too light for me and even tasted bitter. All and all I still thoroughly enjoyed the salad. The service was stellar. I had a wonderful conversation with Marlo and she was a joy to be around. The inside is decent sized and plenty of tables. There is more than 1 server so thats nice. Lol. The hours are weird. 11am-230pm and then 4pm-9pm. I saw people coming in at 215pm! I will definitely be making my way here next time!
Came here to celebrate a friend's birthday during lunch. We were able to come during a weekday and arrived around 11:30 so there was plenty of parking and we didn't hit the lunch rush. We opted to sit outside as it was a nice day and the tables are in the shade. After reviewing the menu we got - Tea leaf salad - Pumpkin chicken stew - Burmese Eggplant curry - Coconut brown rice The first time I had tea last salad it was a very memorable experience. Though this wasn't exactly what I remember from the first time, it still is quite tasty and has many lovely textures and flavors. I enjoy the fermented tea leaves and the peanuts added a nice crunch. The pumpkin chicken was a bit sweet, as expected from pumpkin. The chicken was well cooked and the pumpkin was in big chunks. The eggplant was very tasty. The sauce was a good savory flavor and the eggplant was nicely cooked. I can't really say that the coconut rice tasted much different than regular rice so next time I go, I'll probably stick to the regular. Our server was delightful and checked in on us, refilling water and happily answered questions when we asked about another party's selections that we saw through the window. We had a good experience and I can't wait to go back again!
Burma Place is a cozy restaurant tucked away in the heart of Rancho Bernardo. We live close by, so it's our go-to for quick outing. Service is always prompt and friendly. This time we had the garlic noodles - which was mouth wateringly delicious - and a coconut curry noodle dish, which turned out to be a bit underwhelming. Our usual order is garlic eggplant with coconut rice. Their chicken dishes are all very good. Will definitely go back to try other dishes!
I don't know why I don't go here more often! It's so good!! Staff is friendly and efficient, restaurant is clean. We ordered 3 salads plus the sweet and sour fried tofu appetizer and shared all of it. Each salad was so delicious with so much flavor! This place is wonderful. Give it a try!
Delicious food! We ate it all. We shared Burmese noodle with chicken, beef with sesame, and green tea salad. It's all tasty and done. Service was friendly and efficient. It's a storefront restaurant so it's a casual ambiance. If I lived nearby, I'd visit here often. read more

Where's Burma or what's it called now? I couldn't find this country on a map but Apple Maps and my cousin helped me find the restaurant. My cousin's been here a few times and loves the freshness of the tea leaf salad. The only time I eat tea leaves is when it's used in a lau lau. We got the tea leaf salad, samosas soup, spicy beef, chicken lettuce wraps, garlic noodles, and green beans. A few dishes were okay and a couple of dishes were excellent. The okays were the green beans, chicken lettuce wrap, and samosas soup. Nothing really stood out for flavor. I did find the chickpea crunch for the soup very interesting. The above average dishes were the garlic noodles and tea leaf salad. I enjoyed these dishes. The garlic noodles had some flavor and the salad brought the freshness. The great dish was the spicy beef. It brought the heat and I really enjoyed that. It went well with the coconut rice and extra fish sauce I asked for. The bonus: dessert. Black sticky rice and banana palata. Sticky rice ok but that pancake was fabulous. The gooeyness of that banana next to that crispy dough is pretty good. Plus I scream for ice cream. (Don't put the hosin sauce here, it's an inside joke with the server Cindy). Overall four stars. The restaurant is spacious and very clean. The food came out fast and service was great. Husband and I love drawing new cuisines and Burmese food was on our list. This place seemed authentic and had good reviews and they were all very true! Food was absolutely phenomenal and portion size was massive. Service was really amusing as well because everyone there was quite friendly and fun. They seem to be talking in a casual, welcoming, fun Vibe to are the guests at the restaurant as well and it just felt like a nice place. Tea Leaf Salad (Dressing on the side) - 10/10 I don't even understand what I tasted here. This was an explosion of flavor and texture! We asked for dressing on the side and they actually gave the whole salad, deconstructed and its portions which I absolutely loved! Husband and I eat pretty healthy so this was perfect because we could customize the amount of toppings we wanted in there. Barely used any dressing but overall this was really a lovely salad and I totally recommend it. Burmese eggplant Curry - 9/10 Another flavor explosion here! Very unique flavor in comparison with curries from Indian or Thai food. Perfectly cooked eggplant and the curry itself was so flavorful. Dried some of that curry powder on its own with some chicken and it was lovely again so I bet the Burmese Chicken Curry would also be amazing. Nan gyi thoke - 11/10 I have not had a noodle dish in so long and especially one that tasted this good! I was a little skeptical about the high calories because it was a coconut curry but man this was an amazing dish! Also didn't feel too heavy because there was a good amount of chicken and noodles and just the right amount of little bit of Curry to hold it all together but not too much. Kebat chicken - 8/10 I know people left a lot of good reviews for this, but it was just okay. Not a wow factor compared to other items. A little strong in flavor. Love the mint taste and how soft the chicken was though! Coconut Rice - 10/10 We got this after so many reviews talked about it, and it's definitely worth trying! Light and fluffy and perfect amount of sweetness from the coconut milk. Really goes well with the curry items. Sweet black sticky Rice - 8.5/10 I was actually surprised that this dish was hot and not cold! Steaming hot sticky rice pudding with cool vanilla ice cream on the side. I think that combination is what made it work because too much of the rice on its own would be a little extra. Husband and I split this and it was a good amount split between two people. Ice cream also had a few slides of oranges underneath which actually went really well with everything. read more
Authenticity is definitely not on the menu in this place. The service was wonderful and the dishes were fresh, but were they authentically Burmese? No, they were not. The salad was fresh and delicious, but it barely resembled the famous Burmese tea salad. Most of the dishes cater to an audience that does not understand or know, Burmese or Asian food. And that is purely my opinion. The place is busy, so I'm sure the local community thinks that it something very exotic and exciting. We were very disappointed. read more

My friends and I shared these few dishes: Tea Leaf Salad - great with extra lemon and dressing, if you like a bit more tartness Chili Beef - just the right amount of spice Burma Place Noodles - got this with beef Nan Gyi Thoke - my favorite item! Overall super flavorful, love how the dishes have different noodle types! Service was super great and friendly, we loved our server! It was a little warm, but they had fans running. But the food was so good that we didn't mind! read more
Dinner service on a busy Saturday evening could have been better if there were more staff. Only saw two wait staff taking orders and serving at 5pm. Seated immediately but the table was not very clean with crumbs on the table as well as the dinner ware. We asked for chopsticks and received one single chopstick in it's red paper sleeve. The water was room temperature tap with no ice on a warm day. We ordered shan tofu, rainbow salad, basil lemongrass swai, nan gyi thoke noodles. The flavors were all subtle yet complex as we dined family style and the portions were great for sharing. Rainbow salad with tamarund dressing was cool and refreshing on a warm day. Shan tofu has a unique texture and the sauce complimented it well. Brasil lemongrass swai has a crispy crunch and subtle flavors. Nan Gyi Thoke noodles were a very interesting pleasant surprise with rich flavor and textures.I plan a return visit to try other dishes and hope they hire more wait staff and train them better. I haven't had Burmese food before. It was an unexpected surprise of delicious flavors! My favorite was the peppered beef. One of the beef dishes I have ever tasted with many different but unrecognizable spices. We also had the chicken curry and Burmese rice and the flatbread that somewhat reminded me of Chinese green onion pancakes. I would come back just for the peppered beef! read more
The curry here is excellent. Has a nice balance of flavors, richness and spice. Also didn't feel too oily either. Definitely recommend a curry dish and noodle dish as well! Very comforting food for the curry and rice lovers out there. Earned my "Would Come Back" stamp haha. Wish I knew of this place sooner! Been wanting to try this spot for a while and finally made it in--so glad I did. Service was great from start to finish, and the food was absolutely delicious. The garlic noodles had the perfect amount of garlic--flavorful without being overwhelming. Loved the flavorof the chicken curry. They weren't stingy with the chicken!. Everything was well-executed, and I'm already looking forward to coming back to try more items on the menu. read more

Tried the garlic noodles with BBQ pork. We really enjoyed the noodles but did not care for the pork which was a bit fatty. We always order the coconut rice now. The dishes are protein heavy so next time I think we'll also order a vegetable dish. Service was great! There were a lot of regulars there for dinner on a Wednesday. read more
Divine! Not only was the food top notch, the staff are genuinely friendly and efficient, such a great experience. We devoured the tea leaf salad (I should have ordered another to go for later it was SO good), the eggplant garlic (incredible) and the broccoli garlic, also yum. And all gluten-free! Heaven. Restaurant has easy parking, and is bright and has cheery decor, just right. Lovely all around. read more

I came in on a Friday around 11:45 AM and had no trouble finding a table. We were greeted right away, and our server was warm, helpful, and had great recommendations. Here's what we tried: *Burmese Sausage: dry and not very flavorful. I wouldn't order this again. *Coconut Rice: unique flavor, not sweet, and honestly great on its own. Also pairs well with other dishes. *Garlic Noodles with Shrimp: cooked well and lighter than expected for a noodle dish. Clean, simple, and enjoyable. *Nan Gyi Thoke: my favorite of the meal. Light despite the coconut curry base, and the flavor stood out in the best way. Overall, everything tasted fresh and never felt heavy or overly salty. I left satisfied without feeling weighed down. Service was excellent, and I'd definitely recommend giving this place a try. read more
Our first visit here and it was for lunch on our weekly old married couple date, and couldn't have been better. We ordered eggplant with chicken, garlic noodles with tofu and spring rolls. Every bite was delightful, the platters were large enough for leftovers, and the prices were fair. This restaurant is located in a strip mall area of Rancho Bernardo, in a restaurant previously serving Greek and Mediterranean foods. They have redecorated, simply but beautifully. It's a comfortable stop, with friendly staff. Parking can be tight, but always available with a short walk. We will definitely keep them on our short list. read more
Every visit to Burma Palace is a treat. We started with the tea leaf salad - portions are large and we shared it. It's filled with delicious vegetables, crunchy, flavorful and refreshing. The Minty Jalapeno Chicken is a flavor bomb. The unique flavors were such a treat. We had a side of coconut rice - another winner. Our waitress Cindy made helpful suggestions and was very responsive. read more

Do they have gluten free items?
They have rice noodles in some dishes and I bet they could exchange rice noodles for egg noodles in other choices. They also have several dishes which are protein forward and at least one lettuce wrap meal
Do they have beer/wine, or is it water and sweet drinks?
Yes, they do have a limited choice of beer and wines on the menu, although we have never ordered any of their offerings. Since we live close by, we normally just have a drink before we go for dinner.
Is the "coconut noodles soup" the same as ohn no kauk swe?

Does this place have the classic dish, Mohinga?
Did not see that on menu, but they are opening a new Ventana soon on the property.
