We've had BT since early 2024. We'd had Comcast for over 24 years, but, their rates for internet and TV packages were out of control and continuing to increase. LOL...now Comcast is offering 5 years 1GB service for just over $50. They are feeling the BT punch and loosing customers. Too late Comcast, I asked you in visits at the local office, several times, to give us a better deal and you said your could not! Then I went to BT and glad I did. We ended up connecting an outdoor antenna for our local channels to the incoming Coax to our TVs from the now disconnected Comcast service. There's 28 channels broadcast over air in our area! As for TV packages, nope!.....Internet is all you need. We subscribed to 4 streaming services for all of our sports and movies and still, the BT 1 GB service plus the cost of all 4 streaming services still save us 75% off what Comcast was charging us. As for service and support, BT excels. We had a connection issue ongoing for a while (intermittent), but, they came to our rescue and although the tech had to come twice over 2 days due to finally get a few faulty wiring connections isolated and corrected, we now have 100% rock stable service at 1GB speeds and right at our plan. We can not be more pleased with how our BT service and support has been and will stay with them ongoing! Well done BT! read more

(Cross-posting from my Google review) I decided to switch from Xfinity to BT now that they were finally available in my area, and their prices were about the same as what I was paying but had slightly better speeds. I figured even though I'm not saving much money and speed isn't an issue, I'd rather be on fiber and supporting a local company. I had a minor technical issue / question and submitted it tonight using their support form, figuring I would get a call tomorrow or the day after. Instead, Roy from the technical support team responded TWO MINUTES later (this is at 8pm), answered my questions, and resolved the issue I was having with my account configuration. Their support is as fantastic as everyone says! In terms of the install; I called in December and they had pretty immediate availability. I ended up scheduling the install for early January and the install was quick and easy. read more

We are so lucky to live in Burlington and have BTelecom as a provider. When I have an issue, as I did this week, with both my printer connection and my Fire TV, the guys come out right away to fix it. No long frustrating conversations with someone in India or Mexico. Ask for everything in writing to include service times/dates. Don't accept word of mouth over the phone and definitely don't trust the tech when he arrives. Everything in writing. When things go wrong with your internet you'll trust every other brand then the one you're on. read more

Think twice before working with this provider! This is one of the worst internet providers I have ever worked with. The many times I had even small files to deliver (100mbs or less) taking 30+ hours to upload caused me a lot of issues in my work. I have missed deadlines, had to ask for more time when the work was done and consistently was stressful situations as being "cut out" while presenting in high stakes meetings. While calling their absent customer service, I've consistently got "will call you back" and maybe receive the call back days later. They have no sense of urgency that their customers trust this service to get their work done. They have always returned my calls without a long term solution, often some abstract answer of why the internet have never worked properly "Maybe you have a new neighbor using the same band?" After trying to make this work for a few months to avoid the hassle of changing providers, and doing most things connected to my phone's internet (Believe it or not is much faster than what they offer) I'm for sure done with this company. If fast and reliable internet is important for your work, it's probably going to safe a lot of stress to avoid this company. read more

After several years struggling with Comcast for business internet (their product is fine but their customer service is very poor) and trying several options for business telephone service, we we given the opportunity to transfer to Burlington Telecom when they opened a fiber line along Wiliston Road. The customer service has been amazing and the product- both internet and multiline phone service has been fast and DEPENDABLE. Would strongly recommend to anyone!! read more

They do a super job but -- their continual price hikes are going to quickly sour their hometown customers to the point they will start migrating to the competition. Internet & TV - Radish is correct with the internet - great speed and excellent upload. I can speak toward the TV and it is a big zero. I am watching it now and it is very difficult to watch - it pauses, skips and the sound goes out. If I didn't want the speed of the internet, I'd drop this service... I will say that I do get good customer service when I call. Installation - The man doing the install seemed to be on his first assignment. He wanted to run a cable across my living room floor. I had to show him how to drill to hide the cable. He didn't set the remote correctly and I had to call to get it corrected. He also did not set up the DVR to be able to record two channels at once - I had to call to get this corrected also. Phone - I don't have any issues with how the phone works. I was able to pick 13 features for the phone - like voice mail and call forwarding. I do not know how to use the features I have selected. I called to ask and was told that I can come in to pick up a "yellow-sheet" that has all the instructions. I work during their office hours so, three months later, I still don't know how to use the features. They do give you a UPS to plug into. So, if the power goes out, you get phone service (for 4 hours). Movies - the on demand movies are slim pickins. They told me they have free shows to view. Well they do, but the free items are just local high school sports DVR - it costs $25 for the DVR service - that is high. I can now record two stations or watch one and record another. Even though I set it up to record my shows only on HD, it records both the HD and the regular station as well. And, if I want to record two shows, I may only get one (recorded twice). e-billing - doesn't exist I gave it two starts because I do like the internet. ========== Comcast came to our door - they are saving us $55 / month for the same service. Compelled to point out that although I had the BT triple-play package for almost a year while living in Burlington, and was pretty satisfied with the service overall...the customer service and lack of coordination on BT's part with handling an erroneous bill has been supremely frustrating. Long story short, I returned my equipment on the day I moved out of town, and a live human being noted it and told me all was taken care of. 2 months later i am notified of a $500 bill on my account due to un-returned equipment. Called in to speak to customer service and after several minutes of them not understanding the problem, was assured it would not be charged to my accout. What happens a week later? You guessed it...charged to my auto-pay account. When i called back this time spitting fire one of the first things i was told was "well we're sorry people make mistakes we have a lot of new staff." Agreed on the first part (to err is human) and don't give a shit on the 2nd...thats not my issue. GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER BURLINGTON TELECOM. read more

So glad I went with Burlington Telecom! Moving from out of state, I had only used AT&T or Comcast before and both were expensive, didn't work well and very difficult to deal with customer service issues. I just signed up for BT's internet only package. Pricing is straight forward. The person I talked to didn't try to upsell me anything extra - asked some questions about my internet needs and recommended their cheapest option (I can tell you from experience that will NEVER happen with a big corporation). While the schedule for set up was backed up for a couple weeks due to student moving season when I first called, they managed to fit me in two weeks early and their technician set it up quickly (15 min). They have respect for your time - I think their normal service window is a 2 hr time slot, with a courtesy call ~ 30 min before they plan to arrive (unlike Comcast, which typically has a 4-6 hour window with no call ahead -so it eats up your entire day!) Another real perk, you talk to a real person on the phone- located in their office right in town. Everyone I talked to was friendly and helpful. read more

I can't speak for Burlington Telecom's TV or telephone service, but I can honestly say that they are the best ISP I have ever used. They don't use tricky pricing schemes that go up on you after a certain amount of time, but most important is the speed! They have a fiber-optic network, which means a faster connection for you. Other ISPs in Burlington deliver your internet service through antiquated cable or telephone lines. You connect to Burlington Telecom with an ethernet cable--simple. It really makes a difference. Also, they give you the same upload speed as download. Other ISPs give you a much slower upload speed than the download speed you are paying for. You aren't supporting a huge faceless corporation when you use Burlington Telecom. This is our own, local, municipal system, so it keeps your money right here in Burlington. I will also mention their customer service. It truly is top notch. Just give them a call if you have any issues. Like I said, I can't speak for the TV or telephone service, but if you love being online (which I imagine you probably do, considering you're on Yelp), then switch to Burlington Telecom. They have the most advanced network in Burlington, they're local, and they're fairly priced. The 3 Mbps connection (their lowest one) is $39 a month. And don't forget, internet service isn't taxed, so that's exactly what you pay. By the way, I know it sounds like I work for them or something, but I can assure you that I don't. I just love the internet and I love Burlington and Burlington Telecom is what you get when you put them together. I just want to share the love. read more

We've had Burlington Telecom for about a year and a half and I never had much of an opinion. Like the wifi worked, so, whatever. Then, it stopped connecting to certain devices. I contacted them through their website and got an immediate response. Within two days (my laziness, not theirs) a super nice guy named Chad was in our apartment installing a new router, free of charge. It only took about fifteen minutes and, best part, was free! I have 2 pit mixes off leash on the property and every time they've come by, the guys are friendly and efficient. The woman I made the appointment with made the whole set up easy. This internet provider is terrible. Our internet went down and it took them two days to get here and fix it. Each time we called to see what was wrong and get answers we were put on hold just to be told we would be called back within a half hour. Aside from the customer service, the internet itself is extremely slow and a simple song download takes about 10 minutes on average. I would think I had dial-up or DSL connection. All in all, don't use BT. I wish I could support the local business and that once was our goal, but it would be a lot easier to do that if it was a better company. read more

LOVE B-Tel and I tell them every time I talk with them. I get GREAT tech support when I need it -- which is seldom. They've been pro-active about replacing and upgrading our wireless routers (saving us the cost). We got our, er, wires crossed and our account was in arrears. It was an automatic bill-pay thing. Now granted, it was an easy fix, as we had the $$, and I know that for some, living paycheck to paycheck is a reality. At any rate, the guy on the phone had a great sense of humor about it all. We fixed it and had fun in the process. As to the speed of service, I am about 99.99% sure that the offer the fasted broadband to our place in the New North End, as it's the sought-after "fiber-optic-to-the-door." Comcast, not so much, and their earlier incarnation's network was susceptible to the predictable problems, as cable is really old technology. We cut cable from Comcast cuz it cost too much and went a few months with just internet. Called Friday at 5:30pm to see what it would cost to add cable back and it was a very reasonable price. Installer showed up at 8:15am Sat. morning. He ran into some problems with the way our house was wired but had it all up and running by 10am. I'm also very impressed with the customer service. They answer the phone quickly - unlike Comcast - and took care of everything in short order. Our internet is fine, cable is working and I am glad to support a local business. Throughly confused on why everyone is stating telecom has better internet service and is cheaper han other ISPs in VT, you can get internet 4x as fast and 20 dollars cheaper from comcast. Our internet from BT consistently goes out and we've had their "tech" guy come and was absolutely useless, literally couldn't answer one simple question. Gave us the "better router" and fiddled around for awhile but nothing has changed. Granted they probably do have better customer service but I dont see any other benefits by choosing telecom unless you are in college. read more

If you're a cord cutter skip Comcast and come here. We've had Burlington Telecom for Internet and basic TV (no hd) for about 6 months now. The TV service is truly basic if you're not getting an HD box for the additional fee. Quality is nothing to write home about. However their Internet service truly is top notch. Even the 25mb service is as fast or faster than 50mb from Comcast because the BT line is direct and not splitting the capacity between multiple customers during peak times. We started with the 25mb plan, but got an offer to upgrade to 250mb for only $10 more per month. Comcast can't match that level of service for twice the price. Once during the past 6 months the service went down for about 12 hours. Other than that it's been solid. read more

Customer Service is not friendly. We closed our account when we moved from Burlington and paid our final bill as soon as we received it. Nevertheless, Burlington Telecom sent us a nasty note they were turning us over to a collection agency. Unlike BT, which mismanaged $20 million in taxpayer funds, we have always paid our bills on time. BT when we were customers was overpriced for what was offered. I only give them one star because I do think their internet is fairly OK. However, when it come to the TV we are extremely disappointed. We pay additional for HD and for DVR but it doesn't always work (40% of the time). You hit forward and it doesn't go - then it goes and doesn't stop. You miss your show and it won't then rewind to where you were. It is very frustrating. When I talked to BTC they admitted they know that the remotes don't talk well to the cable box/freeze and stop working but they don't do anything. read more

Due to having lived through Comcaste's verbal agreements I was assured by a telephone sales guy at BT that the rates would be locked despite the fact there was NO CONTRACT. I insisted that I must have something in writing if in deed there was a problem. So I received a tidy email with rates discussed from BT. After many frustrating phone calls to the management I felt I had a great case. If being bullied by the original sales guy wasn't enough after I confront the problem, the manager was also very unprofessional. She finally got back to me laxidasically only to mimic that I was not to receive "special prices", that I'm not a "special customer" and the I have to pay the additional amounts. The sales guy's blatant lie that this quote was a mathematical error, the sales guy claimed he meant to hit another number on the key board, was defended by management. I spoke to him over 30 mintues about pricing before signing up and before receiving the email. There was no mistake. Everything matched-up. To make matters worse it seemed that this manager wanted me to come down there to confront her in person. What a bunch of crap. I strongly urge people to question why verbal contracts are permissible for customers. There is nothing we can do to argue the point. Also, BT is shady like a renegade gang. read more
