She did, though, against her better judgment, and I went home with my crystal clear new script. A week and a half later now, I still haven't adjusted to the new script and I'm getting headaches. I go back in, totally ready to shell out for another set of lenses (it was my own dang fault that I overrode medical advice) and the optometrist refused to let me pay for the replacement lenses. Cost of doing business, she says, and wouldn't let me pay for the replacements despite repeated insistence. In the immediate term, they earned a big bag of thank-you cookies from a local bakery. In the long term, they won the total loyalty of an appreciative customer. I'm deeply impressed by their customer care, their knowledge of vision care, and their unfailing friendliness.
