The Burkholder Trail is a very short trail of about 3-miles, all paved walkway. The entire trail runs along the street of Burkholder Blvd. (hence trail name). From E. Lake Mead Parkway all the way up to the River Mountain Loop Trail where it connects. This trail is a good way to take a nice stroll if you're trying to work your way up to walking longer distance trail's. Also, this trail will pass by Heritage Park along the way which is will be located across the street while walking northbound.
You will also pass by Basic High School and other surrounding neighborhoods. This trail does have street lights but they do not run along the entire trail just along the streets where a majority of vehicles are on. Heading toward the desert and mountain area is where the lighting is very limited. Some of the trail was repaved a few years ago which makes for a smooth walk on your feet. If you like short trail walks this is a pretty good one for families with kids and/or dogs, definitely recommended! read more
