    The classic
    Laurie W.

As I start this review, I'm debating between 2.5 and 3 stars. I think I'll write everything out and see where I am at the end. I ordered the Classic American. For $8, the portion size was good. It was a fairly large burger, and I was definitely stuffed afterwards. However, the burger was unseasoned. Very unseasoned. My co-worker (who has been to BurGorilla before - it was my first time) says that was an anomaly; that they are usually seasoned much better. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt there perhaps it was just an off day. The burger tasted fresh and was cooked pretty well (medium-well with a bite or two trending towards medium). A hefty helping of toppings, and they all tasted very fresh, although I would have preferred a few more onions. The roll was a tad chewy, and the burger was on a Kaiser roll. No issues there, really, just thought it was a bit odd. Another odd thing - the pickles on the burger were sweet and not dill, which I found unusual. I pick pickles off my burger and eat them separately anyway, love all kinds - just found it strange that they were sweet, you don't usually see that. I found the writing on the board to be a bit messy that day, and definitely read the "ranch chips" as "radish chips." Yeah, oops. I ended up tasting one of my co-worker's - nice crunch, not too greasy, and good ranch flavor, but MAN, were those babies salty. I don't think I could have had more than a few, so probably a good thing I didn't order them. Oh, and no napkins? C'mon, BurGorilla. At least put out some napkins - or if you are worried about customers taking too many, just give us one or two when you had us our food. All in all...I guess I'll say 3 stars, which I think is generous as I review my overall experience...I'll go with that mainly because I would go back and try them again. There are a few more burgers on their menu that caught my eye. I'll update this review if I return and try something else...but I'll tell you right now, if I get another unseasoned burger, the next trip WILL be my last!

Underwhelming pretzel burger sub cheddar + bacon.
    J. L.

Got the pretzel burger sub cheddar plus bacon and the homemade ranch chips. Let's start with the good: the burger was a good size (effin better be for $8) and they were having a "Baconize" special -- add bacon to any item free of charge. The homemade potato chips had an impressive crunch and consistency. Now for the ... less-good: the burger was bland, dry, and overcooked -- nary a peek of pink in sight and a charred outer edge. Strictly well-done, and I don't mean that in the complimentary sense. The pretzel bun was dry as well, stopping just short of being stale (thank goodness, otherwise it would have been entirely inedible). While the chips were crunchy and not overly greasy, the seasoning was a bit overwhelming and too-salty (and I love salty stuff). With the surfeit of fabulous food trucks in DC, I'll spend my $11 on lunch elsewhere.

    The Italian Burger

I can't believe I'm writing this, but this is the best burger I have had in my life. I'm not one for the overly dramatic. I didn't even want a burger today, as I had my fill 2 days earlier on Memorial day (full disclosure: since my apt doesn't allow grilling, we cheated and got takeout burgers from Rustico). After my first bite of the Italian at BurGorilla, I was suddenly in the mood for a burger. First the bad. The burgers are thrown on the grill when you order. While premaking them to dry them out would destroy a great burger, there has to be a middle ground. You know lunch rush is coming, throw a few on the grill in advance. I'm sure they won't be done by the time they are ordered. Under the current "order one, put one on the grill" method, this means a 10-15 minute wait at least. Probably more if there's a lot of orders ahead of you and the small, truck-sized grill is at capacity. Normally this doesn't sound terrible, but in the DC summers, 15 minutes standing in a non-shaded food truck zone means you're sweating through your clothes. This is probably the only bad thing to me, but it's enough that I wouldn't consider this truck if I had afternoon meetings that I wanted to be dry and fresh for. Now the good. I was all ready to knock this truck down when they didn't ask me how I wanted my burger done. Much to my surprise, their default is in the medium to medium-well range -- perfect for my liking. There'll be about 1/2 inch thickness of grey around the edges, and everything further into the center of the patty will be bright pink. No red. The meat was juicy and not fatty. I did get a couple hard gristle pieces, but really that comes with the territory of being a carnivore. Perhaps a slight knock for that. The bun was delicious and fresh - not too thick, and a perfect, slight chewy consistency. I'm assuming they are Best Buns, but wherever they come from, it's not a plastic bag on a shelf at Costco. Everything else was just right. The tomatoes were bright red, there was enough lettuce for a crunch but not make me feel like I'm eating a salad, and the sandwich-specific ingredients (balsamic dressing and Italian herbs) were not overpowering as I thought they'd be. Great balance. $8 (before tax) is about right, given the food truck premium on all food, plus the bulls-eye they hit from conception to execution. Their side du jour was essentially potato salad, served in a container that looked approx 6 oz. I didn't see the value for a whopping $4. Drinks are $1 for a can of pop, food truck standard price. Highly recommend this truck for all your foodies and truck lovers out there. ______________________________________ MENU as of this posting date (in case it isn't clear on the yelp pic): Classic American - Am Cheese, L, T, O, Pickles Mayo Pretzel - Swiss, Mustard, Grilled Onions on Pretzel Roll Smokey - Cheddar, Smokes Sausage, L, T, Chipotle Mayo Italian - Provolone, L, T, Italian Herbs, Balsamic Vinaigrette, Pesto Mayo Carolina - Southern Style Cole Slaw, Chili, Mustard, O W.T.P. - Bulgogi Sauce Glaze, Grilled Onions, Kimchi Slaw, Toasted Sesame Seeds, Wasabi Mayo Burger options: Beef, Turkey, Veggie

Seeing how this burger is cooked in the back of the truck, I have to say it isn't that bad but with that said where the burger is cooked isn't the biggest issue the burger quality is the biggest issue and that is why this burger is just good and not great. I ordered the original, with that you get your classic American burger, a burger, lettuce, tomato on a roll. Burger was cooked well nice medium rare but lacked high quality flavor. The accompanying ingredients were fresh and added to the overall burger but didn't do enough to put it over the top. A tad bit pricey 8 dollars for burger and nothing else is pretty steep but I guess that is in line with most other food trucks. Worth a visit just to say you had it but still just good not great

That combo is rare and I refuse to take it for granted. The food is just incredible across the board. And I mean ALL of it. I have yet to order something that didn't completely deliver. The flavors are bold, authentic, and made with what clearly feels like actual care and love going into every dish. It's the kind of food that makes you stop mid-bite just to appreciate what's happening. And the prices? Beyond reasonable. You are getting so much food and flavor for what you pay -- it never feels like a splurge even when you go all out on the order. I find myself coming back any chance I get and honestly the hardest part of the visit is just deciding what to get because everything is that good. It's become one of those non-negotiable spots for me -- the kind of place I'll drive for and never think twice about. If you're in the Manassas area and you haven't been to La Jarochita yet, fix that immediately. You will not regret it, you will not leave hungry, and your wallet will thank you.

We drove out of our way to try this place and honestly it was a bit confusing to figure out where to order. There are two lines and it's not very clear which one we are supposed to get in for what. Especially because some of the items are duplicate on both menus. I noticed there was barely anyone in the "restaurant" line. Anyway, we sort of got a little bit of everything and wasn't completely brown away. I liked that they let you add your own toppings, and all of the sauces that have available were great. But the taco meats all sort of lacked a bit of flavor. Carnitas are my favorite but these were a bit inconsistent. Some pieces were very nice and juicy where others were hard to chew. I will say the place is very clean and spacious. They're pretty quick with your order as well. The food was lacking flavor for me personally. Overall, I don't think I would go back.

Reviews were beaming, but I was immediately disappointed that the usual complimentary chips and salsa for the table was over $7.00 - hard pass. The tacos looked great, they photo very well. The server was very nice and allowed me to do a la carte on the tacos and get 3 kinds. These fell flat as the tortillas were rubbery and didn't taste fresh. The meat flavor needed love. I really enjoyed the included refried beans side, but the rice wasn't tender soft, but brittle. If I returned, I'd probably try an enchilada to sample the sauces. Overall, I left "full," but not satisfied.
