Heath flurry

There was a pretty long line that looked like an amusement park ride line when we pulled up. There is a sign that says you can order online and skip the line but I did not see what website we could order on to do that so my husband hopped in line. The wait wasn't terrible for how long it originally appeared to be, but that was just to order. Since we had already eaten we only ordered flurries. My husband got a banana Oreo flavored one, while I got Heath. It was very good. I don't know if it is better than some other ice cream places but it was tasty and hit the spot.

Great burgers hot dogs and fries! My wife and I loved it! I also love the vibes of having the tube place right next to it, definitely going to return and tube the river! Great service and beautiful views!

Outdoor seating

My family and I stumbled across this nostalgic burger shop after we floated down the river. It was the perfect stop after we had been in the heat all day, I got a burger with fries and a Reeces shake. It was so refreshing! The fries were super crispy, which was a great surprise. The burger is your average burger, but the patty was very juicy- not dry! I can see the wait time being a bit longer on the weekends, since you stand in line to order. But the food came out super fast! They also asked if I wanted my ice cream first or if I wanted it with my meal. There are seats around the side of the building that are shaded, but everything is outdoors. Plenty of parking spots as well. I can't wait to go back on our next vacation!

A nice treat when in Townsend. We always stop and get an ice cream. Service is fast and friendly. There is always plenty of seating and the area is kept clean.

Cute little burger spot in Townsend. Really hate to only give it 3 stars because the service was exceptional, but the burgers were just ok.

Over cooked and over priced! Stood in line for 45 minutes, wasn't worth the wait. We won't be back.

The restaurant is tucked into a nice wooded area near the foothills of the Smoky Mountains. There is outdoor seating available, a firepit area with make your own smores, and indoor seating which is where we dined. We were greeted as soon as we entered and waited at the bar where Ian served us (he was great) until our reservation time (doubt we could have got in without the reservation). The bar had a huge selection of bourbon including many allocated bottles. My wife had a spicy margarita which she loved. We were promptly seated at our reservation time. Our server, David, brought us some of their famous cornbread it reminded me of couple of pieces of cake except it was cornbread with a delicious sorghum syrup and whipped butter. It was unique and delicious. We started with trio of dips - sharp cheddar pimento cheese, butter bean hummus, and my favorite smoked salmon rillette. These were served with sea salt crackers and pickled vegetables. It was all tasty and the smoke salmon had so much flavor. I had delicious thick cut pork chop topped with peach and jalapeno jam. It was cooked perfectly, tender and juicy and the topping added a fantastic spicy tang. The sides were charred baby carrots, green beans, a spoonbread with red-eye gravy and red pepper emulsion. My wife had a filet with bearnaise sauce and Yukon potatoes with cauliflower, sweet peppers, mushrooms and braised onions. It was cooked exactly as ordered with such a great taste and so tender. David brought my with a complementary piece of pie made with Cruze Farm buttermilk topped with berries and a lemon drizzle. It was a fantastic experience and we were so happy with everything. Everything was pricey for the area, but well worth it for what we received.

The only ding in the service is that they wouldn't give me the recipe for the hand pies! I explained that they were the closest thing to my Great Aunt Ruby's hand pies I'd ever found and I needed that recipe. I explained that I was from Utah and would never be back again to enjoy their hand pies. I told them it was important to my family history to be able to make their recipe. No, ma'am. I could not talk them into divulging their recipe. I'm sad that u will never be that way again. If they put out a recipe book, I will be the first to order it.

Parking's an issue if you're arriving when the bistro is open. We were always able to find a space, but sometimes not near the cabin. There are a couple signs for "cabin parking" but they were frequently moved, taken down, or ignored. Something the lodge should really fix. Roomy living space, couch, several more upholstered chairs, dining table. Wood burning fireplace (in season). Smartest TV I've seen in a hotel room. Most every streaming service you could think of, and when one wasn't there, it was a breeze to download and add. Full kitchen, basic plates, glasses, silverware. Paper towels provided. Microwave, oven, toaster, dishwasher, full fridge. A few ice trays. If you plan to do your own cooking, plan to take anything more you need. Roomy bathroom, walk in shower, great water pressure. Bed was wavy when moving, so a little partner disturbance, and wife complained it was not great on her back. Ok, but could use a refresh. Daily service as you need; leave a card with what you'd like checked each morning on the door. Overall an excellent place to stay in Townsend. Enough issues that for the price, we may look around a bit before returning.
