Wife and I were in the area to meet with a friend at the Del Mar fairgrounds, but we were early and hungry, so we dropped into the Burger Lounge. Parking is really the only con I could see for this establishment, but it is Del Mar so it is to be expected, IMHO. We checked out the menu and ordered, asking a few questions of the patient cashier. She was very nice and let me sample their two flavors of lemonade. I ordered the Lounge Burger and my wife had a Classic. For a side, we chose the 1/2 and 1/2 - one part fries and one part onion rings. Timely service and well-prepared food. Great outdoor seating area. We took a knife and split our burgers so we could enjoy two choices from the menu. Both were excellent. If this is what all grass-fed beef tastes like - sign me up. Great flavor !! The 1/2 and 1/2 was a perfect choice - serves two, and it is a healthy serving of each. Our server checked on us a couple of times and even asked if our onion rings were okay because they were a bit on the crispy side. They were fine with us, but we definitely appreciated the question and felt that had we said they weren't just right she would have taken them back and gotten us a freshly cooked batch. We were given drink refills while we dined and right before we left we were asked if we would like drinks to go. This is my second experience with the Del Mar closing shift being checked out way before 9 pm within a 2 month period. They seem to close when they are tired. The first time, it was 8:20 pm and the guy taking our order seemed annoyed and not interested in taking our order. Mentioned something about closing while another guy was sitting, half falling off the corner bench. That time, they took our order wrong. On Sunday 4/14, I called at 8 to verify their closing time which they said was 9 pm. At 8:25 the girl taking our order said we had to take our order to go because they were closing. I asked if we could eat outside, she said no but one of the guys said we could. They were also out of onion rings and anything with crispy chicken. Please change your advertised closing hours or just shut the doors by 8 and let customers know when they call. read more

My husband loves this place! We stopped by on a Thursday night at around 8pm and it was busy- this means that people really love Burger Lounge. I can see why people love this place because the burger was delicious and the beef really tasted like fresh beef. The sauces are also homemade and the thousand island on the Lounge Burger is amazingly delicious! The burgers are a little pricier than average but they are definitely worth it! They offer free range beef burgers with all of the traditional toppings. Turkey burgers, chicken patties, and quinoa burgers are also nice healthy alternatives that are quite popular among patrons. If you're not in the mood for a heavy meal, you can opt for a low carb salad. Their soda selection isn't store bought, it's batch craft soda which doesn't contain heavy corn syrup etc. I ordered their organic turkey burger and requested that it would be well-cooked. It was served with a side of French fries cooked in sunflower oil. The presentation was lovely! I took my first bite of my turkey burger and was pleased with the flavor and consistency of the meat. I was however taken aback because some of the meat was still pink. When I spoke the employees at Burger Lounge about this, they explained that it was fully cooked and all meats are cooked at a specific temperature for a certain amount of time. I was reassured that my meal was fine and that this was how the turkey meat is always served. Soon after, I moved on to the French fries which were light, crispy, and full of flavor. To top off my meal, I ordered their "Hostess Style Lounge Dong" which is similar to a chocolate Hostess cupcake. These are made within Burger Lounge and not store bought. It was actually a little heavy and more satisfying than its Hostess competitor. You could definitely taste the difference as the chocolate was a bit rich. Overall, I was really impressed with Burger Lounge. It's nice to have healthy options when trying to find a quick meal to satisfy your hunger. This is probably the most gourmet of the fast-food style burger joints. The grass fed meat definitely makes a difference. But it's still fast-food, with some of the drawbacks. I have eaten here numerous times over the past few years. Salads, burgers, frings, you name it. I really enjoy the seasonal burgers that they offer on a rotating 2-month schedule. This month was lamb, not my favorite burger. I love lamb, but the cut used for grind is from the stronger end, with a slightly gamey flavor. The salads are really good, and very fresh and interesting. You don't see sunflower sprouts on many salads. The onion rings are amazing, and the ranch that comes with them is great, very Herby. I like the lounge burger, and the fun choices like Elk or Boar, when they have them. The alternative meats have caused an issue before, with the cook having a problem with the difference between rare & raw (and yelling about it very loudly when I sent it back). I also had a problem with something in my salad that shouldn't have been there, nuff said. The other drawback is the small size. Don't come here at super peak times unless it's to do takeaway, and then you should call ahead. There is limited seating, and the mall parking gets to be a fight too. read more

I mean, this mini chain actually provides some delicious eats all over, but this location in particular is the freshest, friendliest and cleanest one I have been to. I can't visit one of best friends in SF b/c I didn't have the time or discretionary funds to do so this month. But I need a vacation so bad. So I busted open my wallet, peeked inside, and declared I was rich when I saw $25 (note sarcasm here). I'd like to say to that I'm booking my flight to Bora Bora right now. And I'm staying in one of those luxury tiki homes over the water and having a monkey (a nice, friendly monkey...not like the rabid monkey from Outbreak) fetch me a coconut from a nearby tree. But no. I visited about 8 shops at the Promenade that Afternooncay and Burger Lounge was my stop for lunch. I was getting hungry after the 4th stop. I'm not a big burger person and when I do crave a burger, In-n-Out more than suffices. Sis always raves about Smashburger but she's never been to Burger Lounge. So I thought I'd try this place out and rub it in her face. You go up to cashier, place your order, pay, and they give you a number to place on your table. I ordered: - The Lounge Burger $7.95 : Served "Lounge Style:" Lounge Bun | Organic Cheese - White Cheddar or American | Fresh or Grilled Onion | Crisp Lettuce | Fresh Tomato | House-Made 1000 Island They verbally tell you that the patty is prepared crispy on the outside but pink on the inside. I asked if I can have mine prepared medium rare which the nice cashier boy noted and said yes. But as you can see, the patty was prepared well done. It still tasted alright - not too dry. a yelp friend, Cindy, came here some time ago and said she found the burgers to be too greasy. I may have to agree with her on that but I found the grease alright in this burger (the grease helped w/ the moisture of the well done patty). Take a closer look at the last pic. The bottom of the bun was beautifully shiny. And I think that shine came from the grease. Yum yum gimme some right...it wasn't too bad though. The buns were toasted quite nicely but did get soggy quickly. - Onion Rings $3.99 (small): The onion rings come in the most adorable baby paper bag with a side of ketchup. They kindly brought me a side of ranch as well. The rings were indeed crispy but they mostly tasted of the crunchy batter. If you look at the second photo, you can barely see the super thin slice of onion. It's honestly all batter (which is awesome if you like just straight up crunch). Would I come back? Maybe - if I was in the area and if they can make the burger more medium rare than well done. It's a cute location and the service was alright. If you're looking for a quick burger and a very casual experience, Burger Lounge is the place. Ordered the classic burger with grilled onions and bacon and a half and half side of French fries and onion rings. This night was really busy and we beat the rush thank goodness. I will say if you guys have the chance to call it in, I would because some people were waiting a pretty long time for their food including us. Although we were in no rush, so we didn't mind waiting. Also if you are gluten free they do not make their burgers with any type of bread crumbs and they also have a gluten free bun that is really good. Just an FYI Once our food did come out though I found a hair in my burger and my girlfriends burger was a undercooked. Although the server came back and took my burger and made a new one and the manager came back and also refunded our dinners. I wasn't expecting the refund And I appreciated the gesture. After all of that though I will say the food was delicious and we have eaten here a lot and it never disappoints. Great burgers: charred on the outside, pink on the inside. They do not ask you how you want it cooked, so am assuming this is just their standard way of doing it. I only wish the meat were less lean, since fattier ground beef tends to be more flavorful, but oh well, this is California after all, and health myths ("eating fatty food makes you fat") die hard. Fries and onion rings combo was also excellent. Prices reasonable for the area. Nice outside patio dining area. So why the 3 stars? Well, we waited almost 30 minutes for our damned burgers! Which is ridiculous, should be no more than 10-15 minutes...the place was busy but not packed or anything. One of the staff did apologize for it, but made no attempt at giving a free soda or something like that to make it more meaningful for our aggravation, which is what a smarter establishment would have done. The cashier who took our order on the other hand was aloof and cold, he might have been the manager/owner perhaps. I hope this was just an aberration and not the standard dining experience here. I know I'm going to take heat for writing this, but I'm not sure Burger Lounge really lives up to all the hype. Don't get me wrong - I'm pleased that Burger Lounge opened in our neighborhood, but head to head I personally prefer some of the other local burger options. I will acknowledge and embrace, however, that Burger Lounge has a great brand. They stand for quality, sustainability and natural ingredients - and I do think you can taste all three in their food. Service is also a high point. From the folks behind the counter to the people patrolling in the dining area, everyone was genuinely helpful and enthusiastic about their restaurant. That's awesome. What I didn't like as much was my "smashed" burger. The guy taking my order told me my burger would come out "crisp on the outside with a little pink in the middle". Sounds good, right? My burger was squished flat with gray (not pink) on the inside. It tasted fine but I'm not sure it lived up to its price point and brand. My little side salad was good (loved the corn) but it wasn't what I might have expected for its price. My buddy's fries were very crispy and exceptionally delicious. Next time I'll get fries. I also didn't love the buildout. The space is too small, and what they have is in my opinion inefficiently laid out. I feel like they could have added 30 percent more seats without the place feeling cramped at all. As it is now three of us were crammed around a two-top when there was so much room between tables and four-tops could have been fit all around. I also don't love the line going straight out the door. I think it makes the place look busier than it should. It is so tough to park that potential diners could see the line and unnecessarily turn right around. Great concept with good food. Burger lounge is so TASTY! You can tell they use great quality ingredients. I always go there for the Lounge Burger with bacon and extra pickles. I did not used to like or even eat burgers. Many times my coworkers wanted to go there and originally I would order the salad or the keto burger. After trying my friend's burger I was the one asking to go there the next times. Their fried chicken is also really really good. On top of the quality food, the people working there are really customer driven and will go out of their way for a great experience. Ugh. We've been to Burger Lounge in Kensington many times, years ago and loved it. We went to BL last night in Del Sur (by 4S Ranch) and it was awful!! Never returning! We ordered a 'Crispy Chicken Sandwich' , 2 Burgers, order of 1/2 Onion Rings/Fries, Rootbeer Float, Ice Water. Order came to little over $40. What a complete waste of money. ALL of the food was cold. Which was some feat given how overcooked it was. The 'crispy' Chicken sandwich was almost burnt. The onion rings tasted monotonous and were almost burnt. The fries were soggy. Keep in mind it was all cold. They weren't particularly busy either. The buns were squashed and tough to chew. So disappointing, especially when we remembered the food being so different and delicious in Kensington years ago. It was a stretch for us to pay $10 a burger. Next time we'll make them at home. Normally we might have returned the food that night when it was that bad, but we didn't really hope for anything better with the same crew on board and the same ingredients. Love there food and what they stand behind but there is this lady who works at this burger lounge who has ruined it for me and fam. She is simply rude, arrogant and tries to milk every customer to spend more. Today she scammed us into getting a kids meal rather than ordering alla cart when I told her I wanted water as a drink and no icecream. I do not know her name, but she was a female and had many braids in her hair. I believe she has some coloring in her hair. When she rang me up, she was not friendly. No "hello", no "how are you today?" Then, my boyfriend had ordered a Lounge burger without pickles and replacing 1000 island with ketchup. The order was wrong (made with 1000 island and pickles) when it was brought to us, so I went to the counter to get the order fixed, she did not apologize for the mishap, whether it was her fault or not, and she was yelling to the back about fixing the burger. She was either having a bad moon or not friendly. I was upset that my boyfriend had such a negative first impression of the company from their employees.
