My first time here and it's kind of like going to Subway except they slice whatever deli meat you order right there aka "fresh." So, it takes a bit of time in that aspect. I think you can choose between mini, regular, and a very big size portion. And then you choose what kind of bread you want and then pick a sandwich from the main menu (listed on the right). After they make it, they have a section where you choose if you want lettuce, tomatoes, mayo, onions, spicy things, and their sauce. You can make it a combo with chips and a drink as well. I decided on #13 The Original Italian on White Bread which had provolone, ham, salami, prosciuttini, cappacuolo, and pepperoni. I asked for the addition of tomato, lettuce, mayo, and banana peppers (I believe is what it's called). I do like my sandwich to be dressed, but I was nervous to order so I forgot all about it. It cost me $11.75 and I only ordered the sandwich. They did pack it with lots of meat, so that's probably where the price came from. But I wish they folded the meat a bit better because at times it felt like eating a meat brick. Overall, not a bad spot for lunch. They had lots of seating available inside and outdoor seating as well (Beachside Del Mar provides tables and such). The interior was clean and the music was at a reasonable sound (no bass booming). I've always enjoyed Jersey Mike's for its fresh ingredients and custom-made sandwiches, but my visit to this location around 6:30 PM tonight was truly disappointing--and raised serious concerns. I ordered two giant sandwiches and asked for Mike's Way with no salt and no oil. The employee acknowledged me with a nod but still poured oil onto both sandwiches. I also asked for extra lettuce, tomatoes, and onions, and when it was clear she hadn't added much, I politely clarified and asked for more--but she ignored the request completely. No confirmation, no follow-up--just rushed, dismissive service that went against everything Jersey Mike's usually does well. Even more troubling was the lack of cleanliness and proper food handling: * She used gloved hands instead of tools (like tongs or a spatula) to handle grilled chicken * Some chicken fell onto the floor, and there was no indication it was thrown out or replaced * Her apron was visibly dirty * There was bread on the floor * The prep area was messy * The store was out of all bread types except white * Her clothing was untucked and unkempt, unlike the clean, professional image I expect from this brand This wasn't just a bad moment--it reflected a serious lapse in food safety, professionalism, and basic customer service. I love this place and the food is good but the place is disgustingly dirty. There's shredded lettuce and tomato all over the counters even where you pay. The floor is covered in lettuce and tomato and the server is just walk in it. It's gross. read more

The Staff is above and beyond here. I had some issues with DoorDash delivery service on multiple occasions. Nonetheless the Staff and Kim the mangers stepped in and made it right. I believe Kim got on multiple phone calls with DoorDash to make this right. After multiple calls to DoorDash we finally were able to get our sandwiches and it was 10/10. I highly recommend this store and their Managment. Whoever trained everyone did a great job. Looking forward to my next sandwiches from the Del Mar location. I'm not sure what it is about this location but they can never have online orders ready on time. I placed my order 2 hrs in advance to have it ready by 12:30. Arrived at 12:38 and it wasn't even started. Waited while the employees continued to help people in line and finally started my order. Finally left with my order at 12:44. Why have online ordering if you are going to ignore the orders that come through? People place online orders because they usually are short on time, so having to wait is extremely frustrating. Almost as frustrating as the girl at the register barely acknowledging me. There is one manager there, or I think she is a manager who apologized which I appreciate but work on your chaotic online order system and improve it or don't allow online orders anymore. read more

I just stopped by to grab a sandwich after the gym. It was very busy for being after lunch, but the staff was pleasant and working diligently to get everyone's sandwiches out. I also witnessed as the staff handles a "Kevin" very well. He was making a big deal that they got his order wrong...yet he stood there and said nothing as the staff made him large sandwiches than he order. However, when it was time to pay Kevin only wanted to pay for what he order and not what he watched being made for him. He then wanted to know where his hit sandwich was...anyone knows hot sandwiches take longer than cold...unless thermodynamics has changed since the pandemic. Overall a really great place to get and sandwhich with a lovely staff that keeps their cool in every situation. I ordered a sub online to speed up my wait but it didn't make a difference despite ordering it 10-15 mins in advance, cause as i arrived and waited for my order people came in to place orders and were getting their sandwiches before me. The sandwich itself was good just not sure the purpose of having an option to order for pickup if it's faster just to order in the store. Also the website directs you to order through Seamless by Grubhub advertising no service charge however what they don't mention is their sandwiches are priced almost $3 more by ordering that way. So not only did it not speed up the process but i was made to pay extra. 10/10 don't recommend using any order ahead service here. read more

Price, location, and parking makes this Jersey Mike's the safest lunch spot for Del Mar Heights residents and office workers. The Jersey Mike's Chicken Cheesesteak I've never had a "hot" sandwich from Jersey Mike's before so this was my first try. Basically you order one size then wait till they fresh grill the steak, peppers, and cheese. It was a decent Cheesesteak and about what you would expect from a place that was more famous for their cold sandwiches. They did have a nice pickled pepper in the sandwich. I will definitely be coming back to this location for cold sandwiches, but I think there are better cheesestakes not too far way (Gaglione Brothers) - Lots of impulse cookie buying opportunities here. read more

So this place opened up close to home and somehow I've ended up here many nights on my way home from walking at Torrey Pines. For some reason I decided that it's healthier than the taco shop. (not really depending on what you get, but it makes me feel better) All of the times I've come in, the place has been empty. The staff is usually pretty friendly. I have decided that my favorite is the #13 with jalapenos (and not Mike's style...it leaves is super soggy) The price is higher than most sandwich shops, but the food has always been pretty solid. Came here on my lunch break during opening promo week, which by the way you cannot beat! $2 dollar donation for a nice hunka hunka burnin' love (sandwich)...your way, or Mike's. Yes, please! Day 1: I didn't get a sandwich due to an appointment I needed to keep and the 20 minute wait they had going. But, Day 2: It was on and poppin' and patience was a virtue I was ready and willing to exercise . Despite the crowded mayhem, the staff was really kind, really quick, and management made rounds and greeted customers in line to make sure everyone was cool. They were whipping up some beautiful looking sandwiches too! What whaaaat. Watch out Subway! My sandwich tasted as yummy as a sandwich should, and I left a happy camper. One staff member in particular was exceptionally stellar. Wish I would have gotten his name for this review. But, he was extremely amiable and asked about my day, my work, shared about his sister in New Hampshire and everything...all while slicing meat and lightening fast speed. Pretty sure that's Mike's Way too! This is a nice clean location folks and I'm happy they're in Del Mar (next door to Vons). This shopping center needed a pick-me-up. I stopped by last Sunday evening after meeting a friend at the Del Mar Plaza. A sandwich sounded nice for dinner and I remembered receiving a coupon for this new Jersey Mike's. Too bad I'm a dummy and left the coupon at home. Oh well. The location isn't huge but it's comfortable and clean. There wasn't much of a wait that day. I chatted with the family in front of me and quietly frowned when I noticed they had some rad coupons in their hands. The nice dad, probably feeling pity, smiled and said he had an expired coupon I could try to use. Thank you? The nice guys behind the counter said they'd honor the buy one, get one coupon so I was so grateful for that. I ordered the turkey avo bacon sandwich (totally don't know the # of the sandwich). I usually don't see this sandwich on the menu board but it was listed on theirs. The Jersey guys (I wonder if they're from the shore and know Snookie) made two perfect sandwiches for me that day. They didn't skimp on the lettuce, onions, or fixins. I also appreciated how they put the avocado on the side for me (well, in a little container). I personally like the white bread here and feels it stays pretty fresh (even when the sandwich is refrigerated for a day). Also, I much prefer the mayo (next to all the lettuce/tomato/etc) than the mayo packets by the side counter. The packet mayo tastes awful (totally the same at other locations) so make sure to ask for the other mayo if you're a mayo freak like me. TIP: sign up for their rewards program because you earn points fast. I recently got a free giant sub because I accumulated enough points The Rancho Penasquitos location used to be my go-to JMS but I will, without a doubt,. put this location as one of my top dog sandwich place for North County. These guys are always great. Young kids working in there but they are more customer-service oriented than most other places, including more expensive sit-down restaurants. I went here on July 7 2023 and a lady in front of me ordered about 10 sandwiches and was adding details on the fly. The guys handled her well and kept her moving in a friendly efficient manner, minimizing delay and keeping everybody satisfied. They deserve commendation and a nice bonus! read more

I would recommend getting sandwiches Mike's Way with the red relish. The sandwiches are definitely high quality, but they aren't cheap. I absolutely love Jersey Mike's and it has been near the top of my favorite sub shops for the past few years. I was ecstatic when they opened this location, which is now the closest Jersey Mike's to my house. I always order the turkey sub with swiss cheese, instead of provolone, and get it Mike's Way without the onions. Although I was skeptical at first about only having oil and vinegar and no mayo or mustard on my sub, I wouldn't have it any other way here. The sandwich is delicious and the ingredients are always fresh. Unfortunately, I have to take away a star because my guy was far less impressed with his veggie sub. As a vegetarian, he doesn't have a lot of options at sandwich shops and Jersey Mike's offers less veggie toppings than most. The veggie sandwich included a thin layer of green peppers with cheese and was then topped Mike's Way with lettuce, tomato and onions. I thought the green peppers looked rather skimpy on the sandwich and he thought the whole thing lacked a lot. He went as far as to say that he prefers Subway, which as pretty much all sandwich fans know, is practically blasphemy. I know I'll be back but until Jersey Mike's improves its veggie choices, I don't think I'll be able to convince my boyfriend to return. read more
