Half & Half beef & chicken w/ veggies, white rice, & green onions.
    Lani M.

Would definitely recommend. This is like one of the only standing food spots in this Plaza now. They took down Chicks Natural, Jamba Juice, & the food court restaurants. I haven't been here in awhile but each time I have it's been great. Food is good. Love their magic sauce & the triple hot sauce. Let me tell you, I love spicy & that hot sauce is pretty spicy. The worker today was kind. I ordered ahead of time online so I just went to pick up. I asked for additional hot sauces & she didn't limit me or charge me. The previous workers have been a little snotty. But nothing intolerable. I recommend the regular bowl. I always get half/half chicken & beef w/ veggies, white rice, & green onions. I ordered the plate before which I don't recommend. It's a bigger plate but has less food than the regular bowl. It just comes w/ an additional salad & some orange slices. Sticking to my usual. Can't go wrong w/ this spot.

Located in the middle of the Sorrento Food Court lies The Flame Broiler, a diamond in the rough. Nearly all of the restaurants inside of the food court are trash... low quality greasy foods from Chinese to Mexican. So, there aren't many options for a restaurant that is healthy, fast, and delicious. There's Green Spot, which is overpriced, no flavor salads or my other go-to in Which Wich, which is delicious but you have to deal with the mean senile owner. I've been coming to The Flame Broiler for years now. It's a simple menu. Choose white or brown rice. Choose steak, chicken, or tofu. Veggies or no veggies. And they ALWAYS ask if you want green onions or not. Also, they come in Mini, Regular, or the Large Bowl. I feel like the Mini is enough for one person, so I'm usually satisfied with that. The Regular is always clutch if I didn't eat breakfast. The Large is a RIP OFF. It seems like they give you the same amount of rice and meat as a regular, but add oranges and salad to it. No thanks! The Magic Sauce is pretty much teriyaki but it's sooooo good and a little goes a long way. Then I add the hot sauce to get that sweet n sour flavor in my bowl. It's more tangy than it is spicy, but I like it. There is always a line but it goes HELLA fast. I literally ordered, got my food, and left within 2 minutes. They really streamlined the process with fast efficient cooks! Most bowl places try to compliment something as simple as a chicken bowl. It's not rocket science... but, The Flame Broiler mastered it! Fast, healthy, delicious, and cheap! The owner is pretty nice too. He often helps out at the register. A hands on owner who is in tune with customer service is an A+ one! 5 star establishment!

Got this coupon in the mail, drove 15 minutes to the flame broiler and the store was closed. Apparently it closes at 3....what kind of fast food service closes at 3??? The coupon is completely unusable because it says BOGO offered only after 3pm. It make zero sense and is false advertising

Came to try out the food and the place was very clean and food was really tasty. Service was great, definitely a place you should try.

New bigger bowls, looks like you get less but makes it easier to eat.

The Flame Broiler is one of my favorite stops for a quick lunch before heading back to the grind. There are several locations throughout San Diego and I am pretty sure this is probably one of the busiest ones as its located right in the center area of Sorrento Valley where the lunch crowd must be massive. This Flame Broiler has limited inside seating with most of it being the outside tables. The kitchen is open to see unlike the other ones I've been to, so you can see them cooking up your food fresh as you order it. The sauces are the same except here they don't provide any fresh jalapenos like a lot of the other ones do. The biggest change I've noticed is they started using larger bowls (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/the-flame-broiler-san-diego-2?select=CaPmUoXZ2FuXLhVEJ0MLeg ) to put your food in, it almost seems like they got cheap and started giving you less food but they just started using a larger container. This was a damn good idea because it was almost impossible to eat out of the smaller ones before, you would almost drop food off the side trying to mix up your veggies and chicken with the rice. If you're looking for the real hot sauce stuff (like I always use) they keep the green stuff in the back of the store instead of the front. Other than that, its taste just like the other locations. The parking lot can get a bit tricky around lunch time, so come early.

The Flame Broiler provides a cool approach to food that is served fast and healthy for today's busy people that is well priced. I had the large combo bowl with chicken, beef, vegetables, and brown rice for well under $7. (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/the-flame-broiler-san-diego-2?select=fkCYUrPIxw5G8Fq_71HX3w#RD1j5jPh1Xzg5lMe2SLOyg) I was able to get extra vegetables with a reduction of brown rice served. The bowl was good. I was especially fond of the chicken because it had a great color, it was tender, and it had great flavor. It's flavor was a little sweet. (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/the-flame-broiler-san-diego-2?select=fkCYUrPIxw5G8Fq_71HX3w#CErBHsdVli9NMKgra1Satw) The beef on the other hand, tasted good, but it was a little chewy and dry. (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/the-flame-broiler-san-diego-2?select=fkCYUrPIxw5G8Fq_71HX3w#DwKlK8OWZrCp2j2BRovV9g). The vegetables were very good. They were fresh, tender, and nicely seasoned. (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/the-flame-broiler-san-diego-2?select=fkCYUrPIxw5G8Fq_71HX3w#XeK9oZLe541gSxkgGq-9Rg) I enjoyed the brown rice. It was a little sticky, but it was cooked well and had good flavor. (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/the-flame-broiler-san-diego-2?select=fkCYUrPIxw5G8Fq_71HX3w#fFeN-8ymTOu_OBwmpsCqag). The garnish of chopped scallions were a nice touch. The place is very small inside with a few seats, but there is plenty of seating outside. The service was good enough, or just uneventful, but good.

    Combo plate, with brown rice.

Pros: Fast service. Good food. Healthier dining than some other places. Delicious orange half with combo plate order. Cons: Lack of variety. Crowded at times (lunch).

    Chicken Veggie Bowl ($6.40)

I originally planned to go to the food court next door to Flame Broiler for Thai Food but everything was closed by 3pm when the sign said 9pm. But if it wasn't for that, I would have never tried this place! I ordered the Chicken Veggie bowl ($6.40) which is half a bowl of rice and half a bowl of veggies with chicken. The chicken was really good! Nicely marinated and cooked. I decided to try my meal with the sauces that were provided, which was the hot sauce and the "magic sauce." I asked the worker what the "magic sauce" was and he specifically said it was teriyaki sauce with a hint of magic (whatever that means! Lol). Nonetheless, the sauce is great! I recommend dipping the meat into the hot sauce and then the magic sauce. I think the hot sauce is a bit sour so the sweetness of the magic sauce compliments the hot sauce really well. I also love the choice of having brown or white rice! The menu is pretty small and simple. Just rice, meat, veggies served in a bowl or plate but it's delicious and healthy, I'd say!

    Beef veggie bowl.

It's Friday why not eat out. My coworker recommend this place for lunch today decided to try it out. I ordered the beef bowl soooo yummy. I loved that the bowl contains veggies. Service was very quick the only thing was I found chicken in my beef makes me think what's going on in the kitchen other than that great place for lunch.

My Works Bowl, along with Kathy's Half & Half Bowl.
    Steve F.

When I brought Kathy to San Diego a few weeks back, we had lunch at this Flame Broiler location at the Sorrento Valley Food Court. I ordered the Works Bowl, and Kat had the Half & Half Bowl. We both liked our orders; the beef and chicken were juicy and quite tasty, and with the brown rice, our bowls were even healthier. Too bad the place is a bit cramped - while we could've gone to the outdoor seating, it was a bit chilly that day.

Regular chicken bowl with all veggies no rice. I eat half for lunch and half for dinner.
