WORST service!! My son purchased a combo from here (the money was taken out of his account) and they REFUSED to give him his food!!! The guy Hector at the counter continued to smile and smirk as I because more frustrated at the fact that my son was unable to get his food because of an error that took place ON HIS END. "I'm not giving your son free food" & "I can't help you" is what his response was despite the funds being withdrawn from the account. This is a horrible way to make the customer never want to come back. The right thing to do would to have still given him his food. Hector absolutely proved us wrong! The customer does NOT come first.. at least not here at the UTC Charlie's. SMH read more

I visited this location on October 12, 2025, around 6:00 PM. As I approached, it appeared that the staff were already beginning to clean up for the night, so I asked one of the employees if they were still open since it was way before their closing hours. She confirmed that they were open, so I proceeded to place an order. During my interaction, I requested that one of the meals be made without cheese. The employee responded with a sigh and eye roll, which I initially ignored. However, as I continued to place my order for additional meals (this time requesting that cheese be included), the same behavior occurred again. The repeated sighs and dismissive attitude made the ordering process uncomfortable and unwelcoming. When I asked for a drink, the employee again rolled her eyes, and her tone became increasingly condescending when asking if I wanted any toppings. At that point, I decided to cancel my order and take my business elsewhere. As I left, the employee made another dismissive facial expression. I left feeling disrespected and uncomfortable. While I understand that employees may be tired toward the end of a shift, customers should still be treated courteously. After looking through past reviews it seems this particular worker repeated this same behavior to other customers and they've added images of this worker. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I do not plan to return to this location and will instead visit other locations where I feel more welcomed. Take your money elsewhere! read more

I was walking through the UTC food court and noticed Charleys Philly Steaks. It was $9 for a regular size bacon/steak cheesesteak. I liked the mild flavor of the toasted white bread bun. Lettuce and tomato was fresh and crunchy. Steak was tender with a nice beef flavor. Bacon had a savory hickory smoked flavor. Great tasting sandwich! Lemonade was free with Yelp check in. Nice balance between the sour lemon flavor and added sweetness. Reminds me of the version they had at Hot Dog on a Stick. I liked this drink alot. 2nd visit. I tried the large steak sandwich. Perfect size for a big dinner. I enjoyed the mild flavor of the toasted white bread bun. Veggies were crisp and fresh. Steak was tender with nice beefy flavor. Bacon was crunchy and tasty. Charleys is one of the better spots in the food court. Nice view of the skating rink while you eat your sandwich. I do miss the old days when the Mongolian place was here. It's definitely good. I've only had the cheesesteaks and the one thing I wish is that the cut of meat was a bit more fatty but I assume this is just a franchise chain so can't expect much. There is usually only one or two people making food, but the service is still fast. Not much variety in options in my opinion. It's fine. read more

Ordered 2 philly cheesesteak sandwiches. Sorry, but the beef tasted horrible. We stopped and went elsewhere. I wouldn't feed that to my cat. It tasted like prepackaged, out of the box, dehydrated, chemicalized, preservatives laced CRAP! I bought 2 sandwiches, one for me and my son, and we both hated it. Never again will my family or friends at this so called restaurant chain. Either that, or the 2 non English-speaking employees replaced Charleys beef steak with some other type of bad tasting stuff, but I doubt it. Yesterday I was going through my Groupons online, and found out that I had a Groupon for $6 for $12 at Charleys Philly Steaks that was set to expire that same day! So, time to head to Westfield UTC's food court after work for an early dinner. The Groupon almost covered the combo I ordered - a regular Philly Cheesesteak with Ultimate Gourmet Fries (fries smothered in bacon, cheese sauce, and ranch) and a drink; I ended up paying a bit over $2 for my meal. Not too shabby, right? Then, after getting over how much cheese was on my Philly, I got hit with a bit of disappointment... while the bread on my sandwich was nicely toasted, the melted cheese covered the sparse amount of grilled onions and mushrooms on the steak. Speaking of the steak itself, I thought that it was a bit dry and needed some A1 sauce or something to give it a bit more flavor. As for the Ultimate Gourmet Fries - the fries themselves could be a bit more crispier, but the cheese sauce itself was a bit too salty, and with the ranch dressing ultimately made it a bit of a mess that I just couldn't finish. Still, not that bad a meal, and there is a deal where you can get a small chicken sandwich and fries for under $5, so there's another reason to give Charleys another shot (oh, they also serve breakfast here - not many of the restaurants in the UTC food court do that). read more

I've ordered twice from here. Not very much positive to say. I am through. Both times, sandwiches picked up a minute after the pickup time are sitting ready and are so soggy, ingredients fall out and the bread immediately starts breaking. Why is this a problem? Because of the pandemic, many of the eating places were closed. My choices were limited so I decided on a philly sandwich. Purchased the offer on Yelp for a $15 voucher for $10. Was so excited, thought it was a steal! I just landed back in San Diego from a trip and was craving a good sandwich. Unfortunately, my experience was absolutely soured by the "manager" here at 12:57 PM, Saturday, December 4. He stated at first that they don't do Yelp at this location--whatever that means. I proceeded to show him my phone and how I was led to the offer directly from the Yelp page for this locations with pictures and all. Now? I was told to come back in 2 hours at 3 PM so that someone could authorize the Yelp voucher. What? Sounds like excuses to me. I have been to this location a hand full of times. Unfortunately, the past few times have been lackluster. I left my phone in my car since I would only be getting a sandwich. After arriving at the register, I was greeted with a sign saying I had to order online due to being "short-staffed." In contrast, two employees were standing around, not doing much. I explained that I didn't have my phone and asked if one of them ring me up. I was told no that I would need to order online. I then walked out to get my phone so that I could order. While waiting for my order to be completed, one employee cooked the meat while the other stood around doing nothing. Pretty sure he could have saved me 5 min and rang me up since he wasn't busy.
