Well I just made a very interesting discovery that I feel everyone should be aware of. Every time you order from Subway they ask "for here or to go" Well at this subway, (and maybe others??) if you say for here, they charge an extra $1. Also, they staff here today have literally no clue about customer service. They are going back downhill again. *********************************************************** This subway is improving. The staff have all changed and are way more friendly and customer service oriented. Much better experiences here recently!! The people at subway are usually so helpful and friendly. But not today. We went on there at 2pm today -Sunday Feb 26 - and got the rudest person ever. Such an effort to serve us. I've seen this location over the years but haven't visited in so long. I recently bought a made-to-order sandwich next door at Vons. The 6inch sammy from Vons was almost $9. I joked that I think a 12inch sammy at Subway was about same price. I was done with a work out nearby and was famished. Royal India's lunch buffet is $12.99 Souplantation lunch buffet is $10 or so (with coupon & no soda) Spices Thai has lunch special $16 after tax and tip Vons 6inch sammy $9 So ok, I figured give Subway a try for lunch. The place was kinda busy. I ordered a roasted chicken 12 inch. They do offer to toast the bread with the meat and cheese. The chicken looks like McRib patties but with no sauce. There are minimal toppings (I just added tomatoes, red onions, cucumbers). They give you minimal even when you ask for extra. Even extra mayo was skimpy. The total, after tax (and i think they do charge extra for eating in?), was $12. The sandwich wasn't great especially for $12. I tried to download their app to look for discount or coupon but no. I had to stay in town for a 6 week stretch while girlfriend visited doctors here. Was good to find my favorite lunch stop, since I frequent the one in Palm Springs al the time. This place was just like home. Friendly greeting upon entry. And that warm toasty bread is so good. I always get the same. Sweet onion chicken teriyaki on a 6 inch bun. Toast the shredded cheese. Add three kinds of sauces on top and it makes for a great meal. Add a bag of bbq chips and get a few chocolate chop cookies. Get the cup of sweet tea with lots ofbice. Sooo good. Love it. read more

They skip on putting condiments in your sandwich, they barely gave me anything. I asked for mayo, ranch and chipotle for my sauces and all they did was put half of each sauce into my sandwich. Review based upon the food, not the service. I enjoyed Subway sandwiches since the early 80's but sadly, they just don't have the quality they once did. What drove me to Subway initially was their bread. It was always SO fresh and delicious and unfortunately, it seems those days are gone. We went because they had an incredible offer of 3 foot-long subs for $18. Well, the old adage of "if it sounds too good to be true...." is applicable here. We got a Spicy Italian, Roasted Turkey and Tuna all on the French roll. Our service was great. Fast, prepared out orders exactly as we requested. No problem at all with the service. When we sat down to eat our sandwiches, we realized why the "3 foot-long for $18" is only available after 3pm. Clearly they are trying to get rid of the bread that isn't fresh any more. I've had softer croutons than the bread at this Subway! The bread was flaking and coming apart as we were biting into the sandwiches and all three were like this. I'm sure we could have gone back and complained and asked for sandwiches with fresh bread, but why should we? Franchises like Subway are always boasting their freshness but when they don't even care about the freshness of their bread, sort of the staple of their product, it's time to go elsewhere. It's been awhile since I've been to a Subway because the freshness of their bread went down a long time ago. Subway used to be a great spot to get a really good sandwich. They always had freshly baked bread, and they would make your sandwich exactly the way you wanted it - what is not to love right? But of late, I have found it very hard to love Subway, as much as I want to. I get that there are rising prices, but where as they used to very generous with toppings, but now they are just skimpy. Ask for olives and you'll get a mere sprinkling of them - ask for more, and they will reluctantly add just one or two more. Came to this Subway today and was so surprised that there was no line. We came around 12:10pm before and the line was out the back door, so we ended up going to Vons to get a sandwich. Today we walked up around 12:15pm and there was literally one person in front of us already having their sandwich made. Some of the people working here are not pleasant -- I'm not sure if they're sick of serving corporate people (I probably would be) or if customers are regularly rude here, but they just didn't have much joy and didn't say hello or ask how I was doing. You know, the bulk of what it means to provide good customer service. #ByeFelicia Their food was good and the lady didn't skimp on the chipotle southwestern sauce; so, no complains there. I had a chicken breast sandwich today with spinach, tomatoes, provolone cheese, and red onions on their nine-grain honey oat roll. The only condiment I added was the sweet onion sauce. Tasty, but nothing particularly special. But what I like about Subway is that they are predictable and always nearby. The staff is cheerful and helpful, greeting you when you come and go. This place is pretty much just your average subway, with its location conveniently located in Carmel Valley at the shopping center off of the Carmel Creek Rd exit/Valley Centre Dr. I've gone here a few times in the early morning and each subway visit was good. When I came on my most recent visit only one person was ahead of me so they weren't too busy. Previous time I was the only person there besides one person who was hanging out and dining inside. There's plenty of seating area which is nice for those who prefer to dine inside, although I usually get my order to go. For breakfast my go to order is the steak, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich, which I've found tasty and a good deal with their combo which includes a drink.. you can do soda or coffee. Today we ordered DoorDash and we called with special instructions like usual. They did not pickup over and over. So, I contacted the driver to let him know not to pick it up unless I text they fixed the order. Finally the worker "Beth" picked up at 3:35pm. She said they already made the sandwich. I explained that we do the same order every week, sometimes two or three times a week, and I call in because the app does not allow special instructions. It only allows the "contact me" option, which is a setting the restaurant or corporate controls. She argued with me, then said it was already made. I said they will need to remake the one sandwich since I could not get through. She said they can't and she's not usually at this store. She said she would get somebody back on the phone that is usually at that store, but after a couple minutes she came back and said they were too busy. Meanwhile, the Door Dash driver was there and said they were not busy. Since they were arguing with me on the phone, and arguing with the door dash driver, I drove up there. I recorded it. The larger man still refused to tell us his name, eventually the African-American female agreed to fix the sandwich but said they were out of Italian bread so she had to use the same bread and re-toast it. Then when I finally left with my order, I got home and she forgot to put the condiments back on the sandwich after she toasted it and put the meat on. I've lived here for 22 years. We have been ordering at the specific subway 2 to three times a week since the pandemic hit, we've never had an experience like this ever at the store. The DoorDash driver said he had never seen anything like this, also, and he offered to give me his phone number in the event I decided to litigate. First of all, I'm not a big Subway fan. The sandwiches at Subway simply don't compare to other sub shops, like Jersey Mike's, Submarina and Firehouse. I've tried multiple combinations of sandwiches at Subway over the years and rarely find a sandwich that I actually enjoy eating. My usual is the turkey and swiss but even that is hit or miss depending on the ratio of mayo and mustard. I've even tried to recreate the subs that I like at other places at Subway but it seems the meat just isn't as fresh. The only reason I even go to Subway any more is if someone that I'm with wants to go there. Otherwise, I avoid it. But my biggest issue is with this particular Subway and how they handled my most recent visit. I picked up two sandwiches from here but I was accidentally charged for three by cashier who assumed that the next sandwich coming down the line was also mine. She never even asked me if the order was correct and I didn't realize that she had charged me for it until she started to put it in our bag. I already had the credit card in the machine and I tried to pull it out but the transaction had already gone through. Here's where it gets even more ridiculous. The cashier then tells me that she's unable to authorize refunds and only her manager can do it...and the manager wasn't available at the time. Instead, she tells me that I can choose chips or cookies, two things that I don't ever buy at Subway because they're overpriced, to compensate for the additional $6 charge. Basically, I ended up with five cookies that I didn't want or need for $6, which is an insane amount to spend for little Subway cookies in the first place. So heed my advice: keep a close eye on the transaction or you may find yourself being overcharged too with no way to reverse the damage. read more

This place is conveniently located in Carmel Valley in the Vons shopping center a few doors down from Ace Hardware. Being that I work close by, I stop here often for lunch. This place does get busy around lunch time - probably due to all of the business people as well as TPHS students looking for a place to eat at. I have seen it where they have people lining up out the door for lunch. They do get people in and out pretty quick. They do have tables outside as well as a few inside if you would prefer to eat there. It is nice to have a healthy alternative to fast food for lunch as there are many fast food restaurants in the area. read more

Nice subs, mostly consistent, clean and good value especially with special deals and nice shared outdoor seating. Serving staff usually friendly and always changing but generally English isn't their first language and me having a Welsh accent makes ordering difficult sometimes but I will keep going back. My favorite is grilled chicken breast with buffalo sauce and lots of veggies on whole wheat or flatbread, very tasty and quite healthy. read more
