Loved this burger joint and was so happy we chose to eat here for lunch. The space was so cute and vibey with the decor. The area was clean and bright. The staff were all so nice and friendly. And service was QUICK. I got a Double Original MeltBurger with lettuce and tomato, and subbed cheddar cheese with provolone--it was DIVINE!! I loved that they cook their patties a bit pink in the middle, which allows it to be more tender and moist. Every bite was just heavenly burger goodness in my mouth. Think In n Out burger but elevated. We also got some Cheddar Bacon Ranch Fries; they were good and tasty, but with how loaded and decadent my burger already was, I think I would've preferred either the plain fries or sweet potato fries with my meal. I went again on September 4th at 8pm. Ordered at the kiosk, very fast and easy to navigate. Although if you put your number in beforehand, I wish they gave you the options to use your rewards or points during the ordering phase. If it is there, I cannot find the option. So having a specific spot for it or a button within the add to order button would be nice. This time around I just ordered a Burger, no cheese, add tomato and lettuce. And a side of their fries. I recommended my friend their strawberry shake & he really enjoyed it. However, once again, the ketchup dispenser was not filled up. Very sad about that, and I felt a little bad for taking nearly all of the to go ketchup packets. -- September 18th, Friday: I just went again & utilized my $20 off reward!! I only had to pay $1.92 for my dinner which was super exciting. As I've mentioned, I couldn't find the option to redeem this reward on the kiosk tablet. So I actually ordered for pick up on my phone app and then ate in store after. The burger was nicely cooked and the fries as well. I'm not sure about the ketchup, because I forgot to grab some. This time around I tried the Snickerdoodle Milkshake. It was good, but it reminded me of something else rather than snickerdoodle as the cinnamon aspect was quite light. It was sweet and smooth and delicious though. Also during the night, one of the workers came around with little trays of 1/4 pieces of cookies. It was nice, I realize it's probably because they SLIGHTLY burned the batch-- it was still edible however, and I can never turn down a free cookie. THE MELT @ DEL MAR HIGHLANDS Parking is easy here, which is a big plus. There's the multi level parking structure behind Urban Plates plus surface parking throughout the center, and I've never really struggled to find a spot even when it's busy. You can get in from El Camino Real by the Chevron or from Townsgate Drive near Cinépolis. The Melt itself is a fast casual place, so you order at the counter and they bring the food out. The inside is clean and modern with a lot of natural light, and there's outdoor seating too since the whole center is open air. Not a place you'd sit for two hours, but it's comfortable and wasn't too loud when I went. I got the regular cheeseburger and it came on a toasted potato bun with this spicy cheese sauce that was so good. The patty is Angus and wagyu, chopped and grilled, so it's actually juicy and not one of those thin dry fast food patties. It was $12, which felt very fair for the quality, especially for this area. Most of their burgers run around $12-17. The location is great if you're already out here. Cinépolis is right there, the Sky Deck is upstairs, and The Melt is open until midnight every night, so it's clutch after a late movie. I'd definitely recommend stopping in if you're at Del Mar Highlands. read more

Our first time at The Melt, and it was great! Food came out fast. Delicious! The process of making their burger patty is great. Angus/Waygu beef with a generous amounts of cheddar cheese melted directly onto the patty. Cooking grill is pretty cool (auto smashes burger and cooks). BBQ Bacon is our favorite. Great flavors. Ok first time here and I got the Mushroom Burger and honestly one of the best I have ever had. The crispy French onions add the texture and salt. It's a nice thick patty with a great sauce. I could do without the spinach. It's just not crispy enough and with all the juiciness it just got soggy and didn't add any flavor. Our cashier EJ was great and even brought us a fresh baked chocolate chip cookie. Ooey gooey on inside with crunch on outside! I could just feel the four that I was expecting to give this place slip away. Probably the most obnoxious part of the experience was just how chaotic it was, not that a restaurant can really account for 30 screaming preteens bumping into you but that on top of the layout of the restaurant being confusing over having to wait in line a second time to get the drink I ordered from the kiosk to the restaurant being super chilly, it was largely just an unpleasantly overstimulating experience. The fountain machine drinks were super foamy and you couldn't really get a good pour. I will say it's a big piece of chicken but the flavor and texture was so mid. The depressing coat you see on top of it is apparently the cheese, I guess. The fries were lukewarm and floppy. I had been going to a location of the Melt in Irvine for quite a while, so I was excited to see that one had opened at Del Mar Highlands. I'm usually here for Sidecar Donuts, the fancy Ralph's, or Handel's ice cream. My favorite thing on their menu is the Mac Daddy grilled cheese, with bacon and Mac n Cheese in the grilled cheese! I get it on spicy garlic bread, which gives it an extra little kick. It reminds me of the old torpasta sandwiches that you used to be able to get in the Midway area, pasta and sauce inside a hollowed out torpedo roll. First time coming here today for lunch. I loved my Swiss & Shroom Burger SO much! The crunchy onions and spinach and the brioche bun brought it to another level. The mushrooms were big and tender, not soggy and shriveled. And that pickle on the side?! We got a mac and cheese...why does it taste so good (and it's also not soggy and mushy)?! So many amazing textures and flavors that worked so well together. It's been at least a year since I ate a burger and I'm so happy to have had such a tasty burger made with quality ingredients. Absolutely love The Melt. One of the few places nearby with late hours. The space is always clean and cozy, with excellent and easy service. You can order at the counter or via a touchscreen kiosk and seat yourself. Everything I've tried here has been worth writing home about - the Italian Job grilled cheese, Melty Mac, and Spicy Mission MeltBurger are my top three faves. Parking can be tricky in the shared lot if visiting during peak meal times, plan accordingly! read more

Incredibly unsanitary. Who are they letting 'cook' your food?? Came in Sunday, 7/27 around 11:40pm. Three people working; two ladies cleaning and one guy in the kitchen. The ladies were polite and had a nice attitude. The guy (sagging, little arm tattoos) KEPT GOING ON HIS PHONE WHILE TOUCHING THE MEAT/FOOD. Not just once; repeatedly, without changing his gloves. Touched the bun and meat, went on his phone, put the phone back in his back pocket, grabbed the bacon and cheese, grabbed the phone again out of his pocket, pulled his pants up while on his phone with food cooking, and then repeat. Right back to touching the food. I know this is a big DoorDash/Uber Eats spot. But if this is how they cook in front of people, please imagine how things are run when customers aren't looking. I've never seen anyone do this while cooking your $15-20 burger. It says quite a lot about management that they're letting someone go on their phone while handling your food. Of course they'll reply to this and say it's unacceptable and they're sorry that was our experience. Maybe that they'll 'talk' to the guy. Just words, no action. Go somewhere else. Someone barely qualified to clean the bathrooms is going on their phone and pulling their underwear up while they cook your burger. read more
