Worse experience ever. I was waiting in the drive thru line for an hour and when we got to the speaker to order, a worker told us that they aren't taking any more orders because they are backed up. She said 'order online and come back' we couldn't leave the drive thru because there was a long line. She was very rude and when we did try to order she said 'Okay order then' with an ugly attitude and she said we can only order 2 things on the menu and it was going to be a long wait. When we got to the window she was very rude and told us ' You can come back and talk to my manager tomorrow morning' and didn't even apologize for the inconvenience. The least she could've done is go outside and tell everyone else in line 'Hey no more orders sorry' and everyone could've not waited in line like us. They offer discounts when ordering through the Android app. But starting in about March or April of 2025, I can no longer find this Del Mar location listed in your Android app. I can find other locations like the one in Encinitas, but that is farther away. On May 13, I finally saw Del Mar again in the app but it failed to accept both my credit cards. But since May 20 I can't find Del Mar in the app or on the website. We were at 2690 Del Mar Heights Rd trying to use mobile app, but would not accept any of my payments, even though all of my cards were good. I had a 20% off offer I wanted to use expiring that day. We then went to the website and the restaurant would not even show up. We wasted 20 mins trying to get one to work. We finally went in the restaurant. There was no one at the counter, but there was a kiosk. We waited 10 min, no one came to help us so we put the order in the kiosk, thinking that a team member would come to help us and be able to put in a coupon for the 20% off. That never happened. I called to a lady and explained. She dismissively said the website hasn't worked for months and I won't be able to use my coupon there. She said "go to a different location," and walked away. So rude and unprofessional. Even if she had no way to apply the coupon, she could have been more polite or tried to do something for us. I had the Croissant Supreme breakfast combo with a coffee and a hash brown for about $4. The supreme came with bacon and ham with the fried egg and cheese of course. It was a good breakfast sandwich but it was smaller than I remember. The croissant was fairly moist and tasted good. The fried egg was properly cooked, the bacon crisp, and the ham savory. The hash brown was crispy and the not oily to my surprise as I experience at other places. I ate it with their package taco sauce which was okay. The coffee was fine. I liked that it was not bitter and came hot out of the container. Service at the counter was friendly and in good spirits, even though they were working on Christmas Day. This JIB is clean, convenient and has good quality food and excellent service. Among hamburger chains, JIB is very consistent with their food, facility and service quality. This one was excellent because the cashier and the manager were very helpful in ensuring our order was taken correctly and very quickly delivered a forgotten beverage right to my table. The new White Cheddar Bacon Burger was very good. The fries were hot and they have the best ice coffee among the major fast food chains. It was nice they were open for a quick pre-Thanksgiving lunch. Please keep the fish sandwiches! I love them! The fish deluxe sandwich meal with curly fries are my jam. The fish filet inside is panko breaded, the ideal way to make the fish. The deluxe fish sandwich has 2 full slices of cheese! Compare to McD's half a slice in their mcfish sammie. There's also veggies in your fish sandwich (tomatoes and lettuce). As I entered the shopping center, the drive thru was super long with about 5 cars waiting. Decided to hit the bank first and return. Come back and it was the same amount of cars. Decided to park and go inside to hopefully to have better luck. Walked in and there was only 2 people ahead of me. Nice! JBox has always put out crazy and cutting edge food items but in recent years the focus has been toward big flavorful burgers like the Buttery Jack. The Del Mar Heights JBox is a little different because the cashiers chat you up a bit if you dine in. They also seem pretty active on busing tables and mopping up the floor. Some people would debate a 4 Star review for a JITB but I add the extra star for consistency and this is coming from over 30 years of frequenting JITB's. I grew up in SoCal and while JITB isn't my "go-to" place, it's a great place just for a quick bite. Thinking back over the years, I honestly can't say I've ever had a bad JITB experience. I do miss ordering from the Clown Head in the drive-thru (1970's). Recently we had a craving for the JITB tacos and nothing else will do when you have that kind of craving. Don't believe me? The Wall Street Journal did an article all about JITB tacos and stated Americans eat 554 Million JITB tacos each year! We also got a Bonus Jack and iced tea. This store, like many others, is conveniently located right off a main road in a small strip mall. Fortunately, they are right at the entrance to the strip mall so you don't have to deal with the mall traffic. The menu is easy to understand and they are quite prompt at taking your order when in line. If the line is full, it moves relatively quick. The pick-up counter in the drive-thru is for some odd reason a bit far away and no matter how close you pull your car up, you're going to need to reach to hand your payment over and get your food. The staff are always friendly and courteous. I've never had a wrong order and the food is always hot. Back to the tacos. It's hard to explain the craving for these tacos because they are somewhat unlike any other. Clearly not a traditional Mexican taco but also different from the Americanized version. It's a corn shell stuffed some kind of beef filling (I don't want to know what it really is), shredded lettuce, a slice of american cheese and hot sauce and the whole thing is deep fried. Their burgers are not my favorite, but they are good. And years ago, they introduced the Sourdough Jack which is similar to a patty melt with bacon and they are quite good as well. Different from the other drive-thru burger places of this caliber, they offer onion rings. And absent from the Breakfast Menu, something they started serving back in the 1970's but you can still order, is the Breakfast Jack. A fried egg with Canadian bacon and a slice of American cheese on a hamburger bun. Growing up, I remember we would get these before school or after a morning of surfing. Compared with other fast food restaurants, JITB has average to good food and they have been unquestionably consistent throughout the more than 3 decades I've been frequenting them. They provide a clean dining room, fast drive-thru service and reasonable prices. Half a billion tacos sold every year! And keep in mind, JITB is not located in all states. read more

The result was food poisoning, details of which are well known to anyone who has traveled to countries with street vendors who practice minimal sanitation standards. Since I had not eaten at another restaurant within 72 hours, it appears likely that my illness was caused either by improperly stored or improperly cooked chicken, for which there simply can be no excuse!!
