Hard and dry
Helena S.

I got a full rack of ribs to go because the previous week I got a half rack with two sides and it was good. Falling off the bone maybe a little too much but decent. This time however it looks like they included some inedible hard burnt pieces and since I did not find out until I got home.... I won't be going back.

The food is eatable but not that great. I had turkey and brisket with Mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese was watery. I've never eaten Mac and cheese like this. Their bread is good. The turkey was dry. The brisket needs a lot of flavor. The pictures look amazing when you walk in. It made me want to east. Bur the flavors not enough. The place looks clean. The customer service was ok. Could be more welcoming.

Classic Sandwich Beef Brisket Chopped. Mighty delicious, mighty small.

The brisket was incredibly tender and packed with that classic smoky flavor, and the ribs were fall-off-the-bone good.

My rankings: Soy Garlic (The clear winner) Yangnyeom Classic Crunch (This was surprisingly good!) Spicy Korean BBQ The interior was clean and service was fine. I don't really like the sausage since it was too salty in my opinion, but this tteok is actually kinda insane since it is just crispy enough on the outside and qq on the inside. The caramelized spicy/sweet sauce pairs quite well with the rice cake. This was maybe $5. Wings and Drums - 5/5 - I got the Yangnyeom and Spicy wings. I like how their wing/s drum's quality is consistent and they have this crispy skin and spicy sweet sauce with different level of spice (I think koreans like to add sweetness to most of their foods). I think Boncho is probably my top 3 fav kfc (korean fried chicken) spot. Overall Thoughts: Best Thing I ate: Everything here is pretty solid but the big drums is textually my favorite. Something to Improve: Make the sausage less salty there is plenty of flavor from the sauce alone but keep up the quality!

This place is low key the best fried chicken I've ever had. I prefer boneless so I got the chicken…read moretenders, and the meat quality was great (I hate tendon-y weird bits which is why I avoid dark meat) and it was the most moist chicken tender ever too. And somehow so hot that it nearly burned my mouth (this is a good thing, as so many fried chicken places bring out lukewarm chicken). This place clearly fries to order (it does take a bit longer to get your order because of it, but it's absolutely worth it). And the size - these are the biggest chicken tenders ever! My husband and I could barely finish 8 pieces together, and he eats a lot. The generous serving size makes this place the best deal in town, in addition to being the best quality and best tasting. We got the Gold King which was the perfect sweet-garlic-soy flavor, and the spicy chicken (can't remember what it's called but it's one of the "basic" non sauces options). The spicy wasn't that spicy (and I can't handle very much spice at all) so some people might not think it's spicy enough. Definitely flavor over heat. The batter is so light and crispy, great texture. You can't get the special flavors when you order a 4 count unfortunately, you have to choose between "plain" fried chicken or spicy, but then they give you a free sauce to go with it (but the sauces are different than the special flavors that are available for the larger count options). I wish I could get any flavor in the 4-count orders. Service: Everyone is SO NICE here! Super friendly, and when they found out we wanted to watch the basketball game, the manager logged into his own personal Amazon prime account to stream the game for us (and brought out cheese balls for us too!) This is our new favorite fried chicken place. Well done all around!

The soy garlic was my favorite flavor. The chicken was crispy, juicy and well seasoned. The original was not far behind with an equally good crunch expected from a good spot. My least favorite was the spicy variety as I found it a little bit off-balance between the sweet and spicy favoring the sweet side. I would certainly return and get the original and soy garlic varieties again and I think this is one of the top Korean fried chicken places in San Diego. The staff was attentive and friendly, and the restaurant has inside as well as outdoor seating with a cool new modern vibe. Prices were reasonable for the current market, and chicken pieces itself were bigger than some competitors.

This one has soysauce flavor, with a hint of sweetness. Honey garlic (7.5/10): Pretty good but I was shocked from the STRONG garlic taste. I really like the sweetness of the honey but I think it was overpowered by the garlic. Spicy Galbi (8/10): These tasted really meat-y, like kbbq. It also had a lot of soy sauce and was a little salty. Secret sauce (7.5/10): These tasted just like sweet and sour sauce was poured all over, but still pretty good tbh

But my friend kept raving about it so I finally checked it out. 7pm on a Wednesday night, there was no crowd. Walked in and there was plenty of seating. While the dining room was empty, our entire time there, we saw so many people coming to pick up "to go" orders. There are several flavors to choose from on the chicken. We opted for the original and the honey garlic, which are 2 of the most popular. WOW!!! The honey garlic was by far the favorite, but both were equally good. I definitely want to try the other flavors now. In addition to the chicken they also have several different ddeok-bokki bowls. The Rose ddeok-bokki had a little bit of spice, but not to bad. You can go hotter if you can handle it. Overall, this place was great. They do not have a soda fountain. Everything is bottled or cans, which is disappointing. Only because I need a lot to drink when my mouth is on fire. So I had to take it easy with my canned coke. But I will definitely be back again soon to try something new.

And I was happy with the results. The wings are great sized and had really good flavor on all their sauces we had. My fav so far was the dirtyblue. I do however wish they were a lil bit crispier. Was disappointed in the mac and cheese balls though. Good flavor. Just a ball of soft mush though.

I love the whole concept: crispy tots, seasoned chicken, ranch, and all the good stuff loaded together. It's messy, flavorful, and exactly what I crave when I want comfort food. I'd give those fries an easy 8.5/10, and honestly, they're the main reason I keep coming back. Now for the rest of the experience: I first visited Dirty Birds back in 2022 and tried their wings. I think they're often listed as a local favorite, but they just weren't it for me. Maybe it was the flavor I chose or just an off day -- not sure. Unless someone else gets them and I try a bite, I probably wouldn't go for them myself. Customer service was just okay. Not rude, just kind of... meh. The workers were young and It didn't feel like anyone was especially engaged or welcoming. On the bright side, the signs around the place are actually pretty funny (especially the water one), and there's plenty of seating, which is a big plus. One thing I didn't love was the shared restroom setup. Even though the door closes, I personally didn't feel super comfortable using it. If you're into sports, this is probably your vibe -- they had games playing and a group fully tuned in when I was there. Prices are fair, and I'd still be open to exploring more of the menu in the future. Bottom line: If you're gonna try anything here, make it the Dirty Chicken Fries Tots -- they're 100% the star of the show.
