This was actually my first time ever eating at a Denny's, so I went in curious to see what the experience would be like. First impressions: the parking lot could definitely use a little TLC, and the exterior of the building looks like it has seen a lot of years and a lot of travelers passing through. That said, when we arrived on a Tuesday morning the place was surprisingly busy, which is usually a good sign for a breakfast spot. Walking inside, the restaurant had that classic old-school diner feel. You could tell the place has been around for a while. The interior could probably benefit from some fresh paint and a little updating, but it also had that nostalgic charm that diners sometimes have. It wasn't dirty at all--in fact it was clean overall--but everything felt a bit worn and dated. At one point I even noticed one of the registers was missing the credit card scanner, which gave the whole setup a slightly "held together with experience" vibe. My wife even joked that the place made her a little nervous and said she might prefer Waffle House instead--which is saying something! But we decided to stick it out and give it a fair try. And honestly, we're really glad we did. We went all in on the breakfast menu. I ordered the Lumberjack Slam, which is basically the "everything possible on one plate" breakfast. My wife ordered a breakfast burrito, and the kids went with pancakes and a waffle. The food ended up being surprisingly great. The coffee was excellent--exactly what you want from a diner: hot, strong, and constantly refilled. The pancakes were actually better than the ones we've had at IHOP, which was a pleasant surprise. Everything else on the Lumberjack Slam was solid too. Bacon and eggs are hard to mess up, but they were cooked well. The sausage links were great, and the ham was fantastic--a really nice, thick slice that stood out compared to typical diner portions. The real surprise of the meal, though, was the waffle the kids ordered. It was absolutely amazing. Somehow it was crispy and soft at the same time, and it had a subtle sweetness to it that made it stand out. Honestly, it's easily one of the top two waffles I've ever had, which is not something I expected to say walking into a random diner. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and they kept everything running smoothly even with the restaurant being fairly busy. They also did a good job keeping the dining area clean and organized. So overall, here's the honest takeaway: The building definitely shows its age and could use some updating, but the place is clean, the staff is friendly, and the food was genuinely excellent. Sometimes the most unassuming diners end up serving the best breakfasts, and this felt like one of those situations. If you're staying at Great Wolf Lodge and want a solid, satisfying breakfast just a minute away, this Denny's is absolutely worth stopping by.

We finally decided to come here on our trip to NOVA because we figure it would be good because it was away from major highways and it was one of the highest rating out of all the ones we were looking at. It looked nice when you're outside the restaurant. It's located in a strip mall so there's plenty of parking. When we got here, the place was empty so we were able to pick any table we wanted. The place looks like a typical fast food place, with white tile walls, counter seating in the middle, and light gray booths that line the walls. We came here in the morning, so we had the whole place to ourselves. The booths had plastic red cushions that were mounted to the seat backs, while framed novelty pictures and framed restaurant rules adorn the very back wall. The kitchen is also outside and behind the counter, so we can see and hear all of the sizzling. We ordered the following: Daughter ordered Sausage, egg and cheese in a hash brown bowl. She substituted hash browns for grits and thought it was pretty good and it hit the spot Hubs had Waffle with 2 eggs and thought the eggs were ok but he wasn't impressed with the waffles. He felt that the waffles were undercooked and under crisped. Lastly, I had two egg breakfast with smothered hash browns. This was ok. What turned us off this place was the ants. We didn't notice until we sat down and saw ants on our table. We switched to a table that didn't have it but most of the tables had it and it was gross. That ruined my excitement at trying this place and we were worried about ants crawling on us. Daughter is more aware of ants and was hyper vigilant and I was thankful for that. Though service was quick and friendly, we won't be returning to this place. I guess this experience was enough to turn us off from coming to one in the future!
